Neil Young: After Facebook - "Days away from dropping social media platform" | NYA
In the latest development in Neil Young's long running battle against social media Goliath Facebook, Neil has announced that NYA is "Days away from dropping social media platform" on "After Facebook" | Times Contrarian | NYA.
In addition, it will cost nearly $20K to disengage from Facebook.
While no specifics were given, NYA will attempt to make the Facebook termination transition as easy possible for NYA fans.
As covered here previously on TW, Neil Young has been in a long running battle against Facebook -- most recently -- due to Facebook "screwing with our election".

Long time readers know quite well our own troubles here at Thrashers Wheat with Facebook, social media and Rust. But as we've urged Neil Young and many, many rusties, disengaging from the corrosive mega tech giants is the only option to avoid the brave, new dystopian Orwellian world and embrace the inevitable #BigShift.
In November 2019, Neil Young announced that "Facebook is Toast at NYA". And we said: "Congratulations Neil." Should've been done long ago. Facebook has been Toast to TW since 2015 and we could not be happier about it. (More below on the history of FB & TW. Short story: FB suspends TW and the long slide of FB begins. So note carefully Tech Giants like YouTube and Twitter.)
Writing on Times-Contrarian | NYA, Neil Young wrote that he will be discontinuing use of Facebook due to their "obvious commitments to one side of politics".
Again, this announcement comes as no big surprise given Neil Young's previous editorial statements about the Tech Giant's unethical and predatory behavior. (See Neil Young Calls Out Big Tech ... Yet Again) Just earlier this month, regarding "The Facebook Dilemma", Neil helpfully offered instructions on how to delete one's Facebook account. Likewise, TW helpfully offers a "How To" video on how to delete your Facebook account.

In 2018, on Neil Young's Archives (NYA) Times-Contrarian, author Phil Baker writes that Facebook's behavior is "worse than we had imagined".
The NYA Times-Contrarian article goes on to urge fans to delete their Facebook account and submit their experience to NYA for publication consideration.

Earlier this year, we covered Neil Young's Big Decision On Archives: Facebook and Social Responsibility. Reaction was significant, with many Neil fans reporting similar experiences with the Great Social Media Whorehouse (sorry to offend whores).
In the parlance of our times, "fake news" is a fake construct designed to deflect from the actual, REAL truth. (See The Illusion of The Matrix Shatters: Corruption, Fake News & The Big Shift.)
The NYA Dilemma?
We all know that "The role of the artist is to make revolution irresistible." So once again, Neil Young speaks truth to power as he faces a "big decision" on access to his Archives due to Facebook's lack of social responsibility.
In a recent posing on NYA Times-Contrarian, Neil Young writes that:
"Censorship is a big responsibility and the Social Media Giant is seemingly not up to defending democracy, at least not yet."
The issue of tech giants and censorship has come up previously and it appears to have reached a cross-roads -- not just with Neil -- but with virtually all things internet related. In February, Neil Young wrote that tech giants rip off artists, who are being forced to distribute their music in the digital world. (And this is just one more reason why we sing this song because we love the man.)
And our advice to Mr. Young?
Ditch Facebook.
Ditch Facebook before Facebook ditches you, Neil. You'll be glad you did.

Tech Giants, we the people, do NOT trust you. You guys have blocked us, shadow banned us, de-monetized us, de-platformed us, memory-holed us, and harassed/trolled us relentlessly. But all of your efforts have failed -- we're still standing. Enough.
Eyes Wide Shut, Mouth Closed
"They" have tried to take us down by canceling our advertising partnerships, or blocking our ability to run Google Ads, or hacking our Twitter account, or filing fraudulent transactions on our PayPal account, or disrupting the ISP service of our partner WBKM.org and Thrasher's Wheat Radio, or screwing around with our Amazon partner links, or jerking us around about Willie for a Nobel, capping our LIKES below 30K and unsub'g folks automatically, throttled our once robust reader comments eco-system suspending the Gigs for the Gulf page based on false copyright infringement claims, trying to make exposing environmental crimes a crime, disrupting freedom of speech and assembly, or humiliating and mocking our efforts when we try and stand up, algorithmic censorship to lower our rank off of Top 10 Search results or gaslighting us with "fake Neil news", sending in all sorts of trolls and spammers to disrupt the Neil community, or making exposing a war crime a war crime or blasting us with near Stuxnet-like levels of crippling attacks on our servers, dropped from Google News as a legitimate (non-fake) news source and on & on...
Is that the best you got? We're still here. Just remember, TW has been around longer than Google, Amazon or Facebook. The corruption on the highest floors will cease and Justice will triumph. The Truth and The Light will always prevail and overwhelm the darkest of the Darkness of Corruption.
Social media can often be seen as serving as the direct prophecy of George Orwell's 1984 novel's "Two Minutes of Hate".

I just checked the scripts that run on this page. Facebook.com is one of 12 different scripts associated with your page. Can you explain that?
I use an add-on called noscript, in Firefox, so access has been denied. Noscript operates as an opt-in, rather than opt out - so Facebook is not acquiring any data about me... here, as far as I know.
More commonly, I see facebook.net on sites. It too, is excluded by not opting in. It's possible facebook.com has been added to your site as a script without your knowledge. In any event, Facebook's spidery tentacles are more intrusive than many imagine. Thanks for keeping the flame burning for all things Neil.

I do find it ironic that this article came up on my google news feed.
I believe it to be true Facebook has hacked my iPhone And my font settings are all dimed out, my font settings are CalifornianFB and I can’t prove I not a robot. I believe in my privacy and have kept my search settings in private in my safari reader. I wish I never had joined Facebook! Ever since I got the Facebook video app for .99 cents I have had issues with my iPhone! They don’t respect your privacy! I use to always use google plus for my social media at least google respects our privacy, I always used google plus for my social media and was sad to see it go inApril 2019 Big brother is real!
Neil, God bless him, has always been a malcontent - he's unhappy with a lot of things, always. He doesn't like his neighbors, his band-members, musical formats, political leaders, and his fans, just to mention a few. Neil wants things done his way, and has pretty much zero tolerance for other peoples' points of view.
That's fine. Neil Young wrote Powderfinger, he wrote When You Dance, he wrote Ambulance Blues - and played and sang them like only he could. He's enriched the lives of anyone who has listened (and, through his influence, probably even those who haven't listened). I'll always be grateful.
Liberals sometimes think that political positions are broken up into two group - the ones they have, and lies. That opponents are "lying",and not just wrong, is not a possibility - the opponents lies (they say) are sitting right there, easy to see. It's not a mature point of view, but there it is. And Facebook should just "delete the lies", because we can all see the lies so clearly (imagine if we could, we'd never be fooled by them), and Zuckerburg must be some kind of evil person not to just snip those pesky lies away. That their political opponents would say that they are the ones who are lying is never a consideration.
Like all of us, Neil's not getting any younger, and it's a cinch to bet he's not getting any less cranky either. Thanks for everything, Neil, and long may you run (and all that).
