well, it is possible that I may have missed certain commentary cuz I was chatting with a friend on-line while we were both listening to it, but I don't recall them saying what albums the songs they played were from??? Did I miss that?? It would be cool if they could do that, maybe along with the year, and who he was playing with, to put it into context. I don't know though, that could take a lot of time and the hour FLEW by!!
Whatever you decide, it is just such a great idea. I enjoyed every minute of it!! Wondering what songs were going to be played, if Thrasher himself was going to be on, etc.

I suggest all of you stop listening to Neil for a while. Move on to other artists for a good LONG stretch of time and then - when the time is right, come back to Neil's body of work.
It will be very rewarding to do this believe me. We all know that Neil himself has taken many twists and turns throughout his career. His most recent and current outing with Crazy Horse is so awesome BECAUSE he took such a long break away from them to do other things. We as fans might consider doing the same type of thing.
Granted, that would be very difficult right now with another album about to be released this year - hopefully.
Anyway, here's a short list of wonderful things in life that are even better when returning to after a lengthy abstinence :
1) Sex
2) Marijuana
3) Alcohol
4) Steak
5) Neil Young
actually, Jesus should be #1 but I've tried to hold onto Him & not let go...

Thrasher, thanks so much for the podcast, great for all of us who weren`t able to tune in on the night. I really enjoyed listening to the excellent variety of songs, and how lovely to hear them in their entirety without the endings being cut off. And how nice to hear your voice too! Thanks so much, looking forward to the next one...
What I enjoyed most was hearing what Neil's most dedicated fans would pick to play. Very nice mix! Barstool Blues was a suprise, not known by the average listener.

Thanks Thrasher...I did a mobile listen last night. Enjoyed the mix and the commentary. Question: The news was clearly pre-recorded as it was slightly dated. Did you do it over the phone? It reminded me of when I lived on Brook Street in Providence just a few blocks away from a fire station :-)

I agree Sandy...2, 3 and 4 are sometimes yes and sometimes no. But 1 and 5 are constant companions. I also agree there's lots of other great music and art and literature and film and life in general that we all have to enjoy. I'm listening to lots of early stuff in the car right now, with a big emphasis on Link Wray and especially Ricky Nelson. Also listening to the 2nd Strokes album--almost ten years old now! Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

could we get some new announcers? the one dude is too loud and sputtering his "P's" all over the microphone. Someone should leave him alone at the microphone or turn it off.
Me too Sandy, hopelessly addicted! I gave up 2 and 3 years ago, don`t eat red meat so that rules out 4, I`ve forgotten what 1 is like it`s been so long...thank goodness for rock `n` roll! And all the other good and wonderful things life has to offer, of course..
Well fair enough I guess to those of you who at least gave a little thought to the idea I was attempting to present in terms of abstaining from wonderful things in life, so that they are enjoyed even more when the abstinence ends.
I really just fired off those five items quite randomly, although I am struggling to give up both 2 and 3.
I'm not struggling to give up listening to Neil for a while, nor do I really want to.
I just know how good it is, for example, to finally catch a buzz after a LONG break from it.
And I imagine Neil's vast catalog would be re-inspiring and exciting if I could just get away from it for a while. I don't listen to much else anymore BECAUSE I always turn on Neil...
But yes Mr. Henry - who knows what tomorrow will bring? Or today? Or even our next breath?

@ anon 9.47 am, actually I think you made an interesting point about appreciating something much more after a long break. That`s one of the reasons why Neil doesn`t play with Crazy Horse (or any other band) all the time “you can`t wear it out”. It`s how he keeps the music fresh and exciting, and it`s easy to see just what a buzz he`s getting from playing and reconnecting with them again now. A change in routine can be a stimulating and creative catalyst for us all.

Cortez The Killer by Govt Mule is an awesome cover.They first covered it 5/13/98 in Pittsburgh, and many times since then.Their live album from 12/31/98 Atlanta With A Little Help From Our Friends has Marc Ford on guitar/vocals former member of the Black Crowes. Keep On Rockin'
Episode 22 doesn't seem to play past 18:10.
I've downloaded it about 4 times and every copy stops just after Cortez starts.

Hey Thrashers.
I'm an enormous Neil fan, and a financial contributor to Thrashers Wheat. So I feel I can say this, hoping you all know that I mean well, and not just being a jerk. Though my Neil bootleg collection is quite large, I do listen to Thrasher radio from time to time…. And it makes me crawl under a chair. You guys make this whole Neil Young super fan thing embarrassing. Inserting little Neilisms and wordplays on song titles or record titles into the conversations yer having… it’s just makes me uncomfortable to be a fan. And you gotta know Neil would be so turned off by the lengths you guys go. It is very similar to the Dead channel on Sirius radio. Turning “What a long strange trip it’s been” into some BS catch phrase, or telling everyone they will be “see trails” during the jam they are about to play. Is his music or a frigin Happy Meal?
I know I know.. don’t listen if you don’t like the show. I got it. But folks, do you really think the shtick is cool? If you think Neil is cool, how could you?

Stoffel1979 - Not cancelled. Just dormant for the time being but hope to be up and running again before too long.
