TRACK LISTING: Psychedelic Pill by Neil Young & Crazy Horse

A Psychedelic Pill
(NOTE: This is not the album cover)
(Click photo to enlarge)

The tracklisting for the upcoming Neil Young & Crazy Horse album "Psychedelic Pill" is now up on Amazon.com.

Disc: 1
1. Driftin Back
2. Psychedelic Pill
3. Ramada Inn
4. Born In Ontario

Disc: 2

1. Twisted Road
2. She's Always Dancing
3. For The Love Of Man
4. Walk Like A Giant
5. Psychedelic Pill (Bonus Track Alternate Mix)

So an 8 song double CD?! Sounds like we're getting some long songs. "Driftin Back" is reportedly over 26 minutes.

The Amazon.com listing has a Oct 30th release date for the CD but no artwork as of yet.

So let's see what's in store for us in October...

  • October 2 - Waging Heavy Peace book release
  • October 16 - Journeys video release
  • October 30 - Psychedelic Pill CD release

Plus, the 2nd Leg of the Neil Young & Crazy Horse tour kicks off in Canada on October 3. And of course the Annual Bridge School Benefit Concerts on October 20 & 21.

And that about covers it. Although probably a few more interesting events will pop up this Fall.

Lucky us.

Looks like 6 new songs, 2 old songs (For the Love of Man and Twisted Road). Wonder what happened to "Love + Wall". Although, when I talk about Love and Wall, I don't really know what I'm saying...

Yes, it will be a legendary Neil October. Boo!

I have been disillusioned with Neil since his absurdly high ticket prices ($100s for a seat, fuck him) and his price for his Archives. I'll buy the book buy download his cd.

Well anonymous 12:04:00, when you have produced art of the caliber of Neil young's music and given it away for free or made a huge loss on every product, then you can criticise.

But since you haven't, shut up.

Twisted Road is an old song?

Is it from Le Noise sessions before LaNois switched up the concept?

Anon - All concerts are high priced these days. It's a systemic problem with the entire industry, not a deliberate money grab on Neil's part. So chill, bro.

I looked at amazon.ca and it has Psychedelic Pill being released on Oct. 16th which would be the SAME day as Journeys. Either way, what a great October!

I'll be seeing NY+CH for the first time (3rd time seeing Neil) at Roger's Arena in Vancouver. I'm still pinching myself, I can't wait.

@ anonymous 12:04:00: Where are you getting your info for the statement:"absurdly high ticket prices ($100s for a seat, fuck him)"?

That's just wrong.

Tickets start at $35.50 for some venues--
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/200048ED8855369E?artistid=736511&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=1

Sounds like a deal to us to see The Horse.

And of course with a GA ticket you can be literally be in the front row.

We've long argued that having GA for the best spots upfront and high prices for premium reserved seats seems like a reasonable compromise.

As always, what would you suggest?

Let the scalpers make the profits? Or the artist?

At 9/10/2012 04:14:00 PM, Anonymous LRR said...

Michael- Yes, "Twisted Road" was a song taken to Lanois and not used...IMHO it would have been a killer album had the original acoustic concept remained.

At 9/10/2012 06:04:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Those aren't the on;ly two options ya fan boy bitch. It is a money grab as evidenced by the many bands who keep prices reasonable. Safegaurds have existed for over a decade that eliminate the possibility of scalpers getting tickets. It's little suck up douchebag fanboys like you who don't know what they're talking about that helps keep things the way they are. GA almost never means being able to get front row. Where do you get your info, your ass?

At 9/10/2012 06:20:00 PM, Anonymous Alfonz said...

Here is some info that my ass told me ...

Funny how I saw Neil five times several years back (when touring with Wilco), paid ~$90 for a GA ticket, and was in the front 5 rows every time. I would have been right at the front if I could have been bothered getting to the venue a bit earlier. I rocked up to MSG about 5 minutes before the doors opened, and was 2nd row and center.

I also didn't have any problems buying 3rd row center tickets for Red Rocks a month ago. Though it cost $160 or something, it was worth every penny.

I think you'll find that artists of Neil's pedigree all charge similar ticket prices (or more). One example I was just looking at, Leonard Cohen in Austin ... charging $254 for front section, $150 to Row V, $90/$50 for the rest (before booking fees).

At 9/10/2012 06:27:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Americana sucked ass and was completely hypocritical to boot in that he charged full price for it while it's supposed to be, in large part, songs in protest against greed. And then look at that douchebag hypocrite Shepard Fairey's greed almost lying his ass into federal prison this week. The Grateful Dead (ever heard of them ya moronic fanboy?) is probably the best example of how to get tickets into fans hands at reasonable prices although it's been done by many bands over the years using many different approaches. That bands, especially the ones with the clout to do so, like Neil, don't utilise these approaches is solely due to apathy laziness and greed. Neil's latest comments on money saying he spends it as fast as he makes it shows he's either lying or doesn't know what's going on with the people he has running his money. Either way it makes him sound pathetic. And why do all the press he;s doing if he won't answer questions lucidly? Just to shill the piece of crap products? He's turning into a bit of a joke.

At 9/10/2012 06:34:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You're a stupid ass fan boy when it comes to this subject, Alfonz. Almost the only venues that sell GA tickets are outdoor amphitheatres and they are lawn "seats". The trend away form open GA seating started with the death by stampede of fans at The Who in Ohio 30 odd years ago and has become almost exclusively non GA, for insurance and safety reasons, since then.

Anonymous, you're the one making a complete ass of yerself. Pretty obnoxious. If you're not a fan, and just want to rip on Neil, why not yell at your neighbors? I guess it's less personal to rant online, where no one sees your name or your face.

As far as outdoor amphitheatres being the only places that have open GA seating is completely wrong. Been to any concerts lately? For instance, have you heard of a guy named Bruce Springsteen? He's been playing arenas and stadiums all over America for the last 10 years, and at ALL of his shows, the entire floor of the venues is general admission. He's not the only onee either.

Before you go spouting off like an expert, you should probably get your facts straight!

Thrasher, you say "we're" not here to defend his business but then go ahead and do just that right after saying it, followed closely by a chorus of lackeys. The truth is the price point you quote is for a miniscule amount of(shitty)seats. The truth is he could do something about it and hasn't. The truth is you won't respond to the points I've made because you can't.

Dan, if you want 'thoughtful dialog', which I doubt you're capable of then respond to the specific points I've made.

You can always tell the anonymous trolls - never putting a name (just a nickname would help) to their trolling, never citing any sources or facts for their inane ramblings.

Neil's ticket prices are right in line with other similar performers. If he's not, provide your list of similar artists who are charging significantly less for tickets.

Neil's tickets range from around $40 - $100.

Bruce Springsteen ticket prices range from $68.00-$98.00.

Van Halen average ticket price is $100.

Bob Dylan tickets range from $47 - $86

Rush tickets range from $58 - $112

Jack White, who I wouldn't consider similar (age, etc.), ranges in price from $53.00 - $106

The average 2012 ticket price for concerts is around $60. Neil's prices range from below to above this number, and based on Neil's history, you're very very likely to be treated to an above average concert experience.

In conclusion, his prices are right in line with what big name current and older acts are charging for tickets (not even including people like McCartney who charge significantly more but isn't touring at the moment), and typically gives you excellent value for your money with an excellent concert experience.

I'd say you'd be embarrassed, but you can't even put any sort of name, even a nickname, to what you write so who cares about how you feel?

Some very angry boys polluting this blog! Not very clever ones neither. I just bought my GA ticket for Tulsa for a measley $61. Now I read Mr Angry telling me there aint no GA anymore and even if there was it would be vastly overpriced. There is some music I dont like. Solution: I dont listen to it. There are websites I hate. Solution: I navigate away. There are things I believe are overpriced. Solution: I don't buy 'em.

Easy isn't it? Keep up the Thrashing and ignore the Trolling.

Nothing on this site provides more amusement than people bitching about pricing. We can debate the relative merits of the Artist's creative output endlessly and achieve a pretty good blend of passionate opinions, but the pricing complaints are utterly pointless. As has already been stated, but can never be overstated- if you think it's too expensive, don't go/buy. Neil Young does not owe you a ticket/album price that fits your budget. So please shut up and clear some space for the blood battles over Psychedelic Pill.

Yay, a fun angry troll. It's been awhile.

And I agree with no one.

Clear out, Anon, we have much more important angry battles to conduct than over whether you are satisfied with concert ticket pricing.

I mean, my god, we've got a whole album of new material to announce our high and mighty opinions about, plus the book is coming out, so no one and I will get to revisit our argument about what constitutes quality writing. Which should be excellent fun!

So peace out yon troll. Or better yet, if you want to vent, about 30 or so posts back in the archive you'll find some a thread where ticket prices were already argued about. So you can add your ad hominem blustering to that dusty shelf.

Matthew

sd, not a good comparison citing jack white. he's touring with TWO bands (one all girl, one all dude, and he decides which one he'll play with the day of the show).

At 9/11/2012 08:15:00 PM, Anonymous SD said...

I don't see how Jack White touring with two bands, one of which he will perform with any given night, makes a comparison of his ticket prices invalid.

He was used as a comparison point because he is someone who is a more current (i.e. wasn't putting out albums 20-40 years ago), as a counterpoint to some of the older acts I cited.

I've never thought that most neil fans were all that intelligent and you all sure are confirming that. Kind of in the vein of the guy who tells him to 'suck his dick' (is it o.k. to dis that fan, Gus? Don't break your brain) in the last CSNY concert video.

Matthew, there was more than one mention of ticket prices and gouging in this thread ya moron and that's what I'm responding to.

SD, that name really screams integrity to me and instills such confidence in your intelligence. Obviously you care or you would'nt respond so thanks for pointing out you're an idiot.

growl, claiming I said something I already pointed out was wrong, can you spell GED?

Thrasher, a guy who is scared of anger but loves rock n roll, which would'nt exist without it, you're not worth the effort.

Just because mosty everyone does something (ticket pricing) doesn't make it right. especially when you say your new album came about to decry such practises. Read Hit Men and learn how these artists you love so much went right along and gouged their audiences forever. Paybbacks a bitch and so are those who complain about it.
