With Farm Aid 2012 a few days away, here's a look back at a highlight from Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America. Neil Young performs "Hitchhiker" in Milwaukee on October 2, 2010.

With Farm Aid 2012 a week away, here's a look back at a highlight from Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America. Neil Young performs "Down by the River" in Milwaukee on October 2, 2010.
Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers.
Learning from Neil Young: Nearly all of the acts paid lip service to supporting family farms, but Young spent nearly half his time on stage talking up the cause. Ultimately, it was the lecturing that earned him a standing ovation. 'Maybe you don't realize what's really going on with factory farms in this country, how they are displacing family farms at an alarming rate,' Young said. 'Factory farms are the reason why we have food alerts. They are the reason why we have dying people and disease. Try to buy something from a family farm, something that's sustainably grown. You deserve the best. Your children deserve the best.'
Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America will be held today in Milwaukee, WI.
Farm Aid 25 will be broadcast live in HD on YouTube and DIRECTV starting at 6pm Eastern on Saturday, October 2.
In the meantime, Farm Aid board members Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson talk about Farm Aid and its 25 years of inspired music, taking action and total commitment to making a difference.

It was well worth the trip for us prodigal fans as Neil delivered a spirited and diverse set that featured tunes from throughout his 40+ year music career ranging from old classics like “Down By The River” and “Cinnamon Girl” to very recent tunes like “Love and War” and “.” In addition to the diverse timeline, Neil also took advantage of all the instruments on stage, which included numerous acoustic and electric guitars, the piano used by opener Allen Toussaint, his “Hurricane” pipe organ and a tack piano.
And speaking of Allen Toussaint, the New Orleans music legend owned the crowd with a charismatic opening performance of songs like “Happy Times,” “Whipped Cream,” “Working In A Coal Mine,” “Yes We Can Can” and a version of “Southern Nights” that included a spoken poetic recounting of Allen’s memories as a kid leaving the city to visit relatives in the country whose houses were “built old” and were all a “shotgun apart.” Unfortunately the mesmerizing narrative was cut short when Allen ran out of time, but the crowd had already been given more than enoguh to justify a rousing standing ovation.
After Allen left the stage, brother Neil Young took over wearing his Panama-style hat and matching light-colored suit. The crowd roared with applause but as soon as Neil hit the first note of “Hey Hey My My (Out Of The Blue)” the crowd was instantly silent. The rest of the evening was pure bliss.

UPDATE: Lots of rumors flying around now prior to tomorrow's official announcement. It seems like the much hyped speculation of a Buffalo Springfield reunion may be possibly true. At least with respect to Stephen Stills and Neil Young.
Obviously, several other original Buffalo Springfield members will not be able to make the gigs, sadly.

From everything we're hearing, this year's concert acts will be TOTALLY MINDBLOWING! And no, we are not saying that to just hype it up. We really think folks will fall on the floor when they hear the acts performing.

Neil Young performed "Long May You Run" for the Vancouver Olympics Closing Ceremony: Winter Games 2010. Snow drifted down from ceiling as Neil strolled about with harmonica rack and Hank Williams' Martin D-28 guitar.
Following Young's performance, the cauldrons were extinguished and the torch arms retracted.
Many, many 1000's of instant mini-reviews on Twitter indicated that Young's performance was highlight of closing ceremonies. Many felt that what followed Young's performance was a travesty and embarrassment to music fans and Canada's heritage.
