In other random tour news...
In the recent interview with Shepard Fairey and Neil Young in Rolling Stone by Steve Baltin, an interesting comment was made regarding future Crazy Horse tour plans and Fairey's art:
"The art will be the backdrop for this short tour that we’re doing," Young said of the upcoming Americana dates, which he described as "really a very short tour."
So. A "very short tour."?!
That news may come as a disappointment for fans hoping to catch dates around the Americanas and elsewhere around the world.
And if that's not puzzling enough, how about this other news nugget from Rolling Stone by Andy Greene where Neil Young explains Buffalo Springfield's aborted reunion and possibly touring again:
"That could happen," says Young. "But it's not happening now. I'd be on a tour of my past for the rest of fucking time, which I can't do. I have to be able to move forward. I can't be relegated. I did enough of it for right then, but there is this seed of something great still there. It's worth exploring again."
So Crazy Horse tour? Short.
Buffalo Springfield tour? Maybe.
The plot thickens.

In the meantime, enjoy the Americana release!

I just hope these marvelous musicians have enough great times on that tour to decide a European tour next year.
Here, we haven't seen Neil and THESE boys since 2001 !!!
WOW, thanks Neil &CH for coming back to Calgary! We love ya!!!! Can't wait to hear Americana Live, baby!!
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.
Bill in Calgary
The Horse is back in full for the first tour in what, eight years - I'll be back in the US for the first time in three years for a week in November - and I miss the New York gig by three weeks.
Sigh. Guess it's back to hoping for a European or Asian tour next year...
Oh Hell yes!!!!! One more ride with the Horse. Note the talk of the other new Crazy Horse album!! A 26 minute jam!! The concerts will be old, new and present!! I love Neil Young!! I love Crazy Horse!! I can't freakin wait!! God Bless Neil Young. A true original. We're so lucky!! Every day I look for tour news. I had about given up. And BAM, there it was!! I screamed in joy!! So guys-- how do we find out pre-sale passwords? Specifically I'd like to get MSG tickets...thanks!!
Does anyone know if the GA floor seats are the expensive ones? There's a huge gap between $70 and $200.
From Rolling Stone "They have also recorded an album of original material, which should surface sometime later this year. "There are lots of instrumentals, lots of excursions," Young says in the next issue of Rolling Stone, on stands this Friday. "But they're real songs. It has one that's 26 minutes long … [the tour] is going to be [songs from] the past, the present and the future."

Sounds good to me!! Two Crazy Horse albums in 2012!? Don't think I could've ever imagined that in my wildest dreams!! Neil is on fire!!
Steven James
Will all these shows have GA floor seats?
Amazing. The short tour Neil is talking about might be the Red Rocks and Outside Land dates. That could be the Americana tour with Shepard Fairey's paintings? The next tour starting in October will be The Past, The Present and The Future tour? A crazy Horse song that clocks 26 minutes. How cool is that.

Anyone have the pre-sale password yet for the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA?
Thrasher?
Anyone know anything about the Dallas show?! It's not on neilyoung.com tour schedule. The rest of the shows are now. Damnit.
Holy cow...20 comments and not ONE about how stupid we are to pay $X.XX for the show? Brilliant!

I guess this confirms my suspicions that there won't be any extra Austin shows around the ACL Festival.
I thought there was a very small chance they might do an ACL Live taping (e.g. Arcade Fire and Coldplay did so last year as headliners). Which would have been amazing in the venue.
But I can't see him playing on the 12th and doing 4 nights in a row.
Looks like I'll have to take a trip to MSG. Too bad, I was hoping for a return to the PNC Arts Center in NJ. Eh, who cares, the Horse is out of the barn!!!!!
Any help on MSG presale password would be great. Planning a trip over from the UK.
We'll all sing hallelujah when she comes! Thanksgiving in Canada and then Christmas comes early to the Northeast.
This band was made for you and me....
Madison Square Garden
tickets $ 288 !
Think I'll take the whole family !!Love the music Neil, but at $ 288 for arena sound, you gotta be F-ing kidding.
Greed has overcome so many businesses and people.
And now Neil Young too.
These prices repesent GREED.
I know, I know, there's cheaper seat 2 miles back.that doesn't take away from the greed of $ 288.
I know, I know, I don't have to go.....you're right Neil..... I definately won't be going.
I know I will be attacked here and all the excuses made, but the level of greed is obvious to anyone not possesed with "Neil Young is always right" disease.
The buses, the fuel, Crazy Horse, Neil doesnt make the prices......keep going.........
This One is missing:
10/26-27-28 Voodoo Fest, New Orleans
Nice to see Patti Smith is going on tour with Neil and the Horse. She just recorded a very nice version of After The Gold Rush for her new album Banga.
I agree Anon, $288 is highway robbery.
But it appears they range from the $68.00 range, and also include a free copy of Americana.
I'll buy a pair of the $68.00 tickets. I'd much rather see them on a lawn somewhere than crammed into seats in Madison Square Garden, personally, but you don't always get what you want.
Four inches of rain this weekend and the Saco is high and grand. Deer are in the fields. There's a stream in back of my place that comes down from the mountains. Yesterday morning it was loud as I've ever heard.
That's what the Horse will sound like when you hear them this tour. So don't worry about paying for the seats in back...you'll hear just fine and so will I.
What a great tour schedule and openers with Los Lobos and Patti Smith. Hope to see a show or two.
Speaking of great tour schedules, I see where First Aid Kit is playing Europe this Spring, opening a bunch of shows for Jack White. Then they come home to play Newport Folk on Saturday, which is shaping up to be one of the major days in Newport history with the Guthrie Family Reunion. Any chance some major Woody fans might also be on board for the day?
Should be a great time for the girls, who are getting the attention they so richly deserve. Congratulations and great job Klara and Johanna...have fun storming the castle!
Seriously hoping "A Vinyl Evening with Neil Young & Crazy Horse" isn't a play on words... Sounds almost like "A Final Evening..." :-(
I'm seriously hoping for a Euro tour next year... PLEASE Neil!
Davie from Scotland
Just received a text that Neil is being interviewed by Terri Gross tomorrow. I'm sure that she'll do a great job and should be one for the ages.
This week is turning out pretty good, huh?
dude, the cheapest ticket gets you in the front row? what's the problem?
Get a GA ticket, arrive early and you'll be on the rail for the HORSE!
Save some $$'s. Don't cough up the buck$.
"Neil Young and Crazy Horse have announced that they will hit the road in North America this fall for their first tour together since 2004 for "A Vinyl Evening With Neil Young & Crazy Horse."
Amazing, they are going to play some old records!
Bummer about that Dallas show vanishing...
Americana in the mail box at noon today...right on time.
North Americana tour AND another new Crazy Horse Album???
I had a dream the other night...THIS WAS IT!
So....Horse Back?! I wouln't be suprised if that 40 minutes he laid on us a while ago comprises alot of the upcoming new album.
Horseback.
A tour.
Another record in the can.
And Patti Smith.
--Thankyou, God!!

OK...I was hoping we'd make it a bit further, but it took *27* comments for people to start bitching about how much the tickets cost.
Stay home.
SMELL THE HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still room for a Portland date in there before Seattle!
Neil in Saskatoon!!!!!!!!! Just hope he doesn't save too much for his hometown two nights later. And the "Gordie Howe of Music" can even pose with a statue of Howe outside the rink! Ok, maybe not but WOW, Just WOW!! Is it November yet?
where did the "vinyl evening with neil young and crazy horse" come from? and what is the significance of the word vinyl here?
*****
MDB - It was a good run!
I'm diggin' the overload of endorphins all this Neil news is causing my gulliver to release! And as I'm listening to "God Save the Queen", I'm thinking is Neil a genius, or what? the album, released today with the song, THAT song, while the Queen's diamond jubilee is getting world-wide coverage. Brilliant!
It all totally works for me. It is all one long song. The horse is back!
Yipee!
If anyone sees any pre-sale info please post. Given that MSG tickets go on sale this Sunday perhaps no pre-sale?
Is this a great time to be a Neil Young fan, or what ?
... a new record gets released
...... Neil gives the records away for free if you come see him,
....... the new record streams for free over your computer, or phone
..... and the Horse is gettin' saddled up for a Fall trip.
....... is this a great time to be a Neil Young fan, or what ?
.... see ya'll @ Red Rocks on Sunday.
Folks, we have two choices: pay for recorded music and attend affordable concerts; or get free music and pay through the nose for live shows. But I need help with the following tough decision: as an Ottawa resident, do I hit the montreal show on the friday to prep for the ottawa show on the saturday, or do I stay home and take the kids to see Bieber on the friday show here in ottawa to earn extra points from the wife to spent over the winter. hmmmm. that didn't take long: another back to back with Neil - third time around. Too bad the internet and cell phones have ruined live music forever - remember the night you saw the 1986 third best garage band tour with no youtube - just the shear enjoyment of being surprised - pleasantly surprised....
Can't wait for the MSG! Anyone have pre-sale password?
Does anyone know the price levels for the Boston show? I see tickets start at $54.50 and go up to $254.50, but I'm guessing there must be 2 price ranges in between, right?
Currently, the seating chart for the show looks like it won't be GA floor but that could change. His Worcester show a couple years ago with Wilco was GA floor & those tickets were $75.
OK how/where do we get the presale code for these shows?
Presale code is "Amplify" for Patriot Center show.
Thanks you, Michael! Now my guess is that the general admission floor tickets are the less expensive ones? I'm in a state of paralysis as to which tickets to get. It isn't the money at all - I just want to be right up front - duh.
Thank you - not 'thanks'
any info on presale for Toronto ?
Password ?
I saw a bumper sticker yesterday:
"THE BEATLES DIDN'T NEED A WEBSITE!"
Hmmmmm......
"...I feel like goin' back.
Back where there's no place to stay."
So i guess the question now is THE PASSWORD. Is it going to be posted on Neil's page? Where should we be looking??
Does anyone have any idea about the setlist this time around? I know he might structure it around the latest record and Crazy Horse material.
But what I'm saying is would he dig any deeper in the vault or maybe more deep cuts or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
it's The Past, The Present and The Future Tour, so...it's gonna be everything.
as overheard at the Bridge show
NY: Folk music
DM: Something old, something nobody writ
How about a show in Hawaii ?
Just heard the interview podcast on the KLOS website (URL link in peter d's comment above). Kind of surprised to hear that the digital format Pono being worked on will require new hardware for playback. I'm all for improving audio quality (I buy almost exclusively vinyl these days - though regrettably not Neil's vinyl b/c it's overpriced), but a new format that requires new hardware sounds like a losing proposition. Seems like that's part of what was responsible for DVD-A and SACD (which I invested in) never catching on.
Does anyone have info on the Philadelphia presale? Tix are thru Comcast rather than Ticketmaster, so don't know if it works differently.
Comcast website shows there is a Live Nation presale for Philly tomorrow from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Live Nation password is "amplify."
Can anyone tell me the presale password for Seattle on Nov 10???
The Live Nation Facebook page has Cleveland, Seattle, Fairfax and Hollywood Bowl as "amplify"....if anybody finds the Boston pre-sale password please post!

Please... anyone know the Bridgeport CT Presale password?!!? Thanks
Would love to know how to get a pre-sale password. Thought it would be via an e-mail from neilyoung.com.
Please someone post the presale code for Bridgeport CT as soon as someone knows.
Also will need it for Friday morning for the Garden show.
I do wish Neil made this easier for his fans for Elvis Costello I got emails for every presale code for every show.
THANKS!
No artist/fan club presales for this tour, unlike the last few. Presales are through Live Nation/venues/radio stations etc. Live Nation password is "amplify," which should work for all U.S. dates EXCEPT Boston, Bridgeport and Madison Square Garden (though some folks insist it will work for MSG as well). Good luck to all.
The only mention of an actual password for Boston so far:
Presale: Thu., June 7 @ 10AM – Thu., June 7 @ 3PM
Use passcode: crazy
Unfortunately there's no way to verify this before pre-sale begins.
Password for MSG is "amplify."
Good luck!
Chris

Can`t honestly believe it. Not even one Tour Stop in either the American Airlines Arena in Miami or the Bank Atlantic Center in FT Lauderdale, FL, what they hell is that all about? 2 Years ago he performed at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood FL with a seating capacity of around 5000 Seats or Less?

expensive "I wanna love you but I'm getting blown away" by ticket prices at Patriot Center which is a sub-standard venue. Why not play Merriweather Post Pavilion or Verizon Center in DC and rock on? We love Crazy Horse but "Pardon My Heart" but will have to skip this one.
can barely wait for South Shore Harveys, 08/09. woo hoo, camping and NY&CH, sheeeet MF, what could be better ?
Tomorrow Night's the Night!!!! Tomorrow Night's the Ni-i-i-ight!!
