RUST BUCKET VIDEO PREMIERE: "T-BONE" - Neil Young & Crazy Horse, 1990 Rehearsals Video
As we have been sharing here @ TW for the past months, another song from the 3 set "RUST BUCKET" concert is being screened on Hearse Theater Screen #2 | NYA. Last year, Neil Young announced a major Archives discovery titled "RUST BUCKET".
This Friday's feature song is "T-BONE". Neil writes on NYA:
“Got mashed potatoes. Ain’t got no T-Bone!”
This song speaks for itself. A Horse classic from ‘Way Down in the Rust Bucket,’ coming your way later this year in blu-ray and vinyl, cd and high res . . .
Smell the Horse
nyThe complete concert setlist is 20 songs with a running in total of 3 hours. (See Sugar Mtn for more details). The RUST BUCKET tapes have been called "the missing link between Ragged Glory and Weld".
As noted earlier, a complete multi-camera video (6 cameras?!) was discovered in the NYA vaults. Produced and Directed by the late LA Johnson, the Neil Young & Crazy Horse concert was filmed on November 11, 1990 at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California. (See Sugar Mtn for more details). Consisting of 3 sets, plus encore, the video is titled WAY DOWN IN THE RUST BUCKET. Here's an update from Audio Engineer John Hanlon on the earlier announced Archives discovery of Neil Young "unearthing" a major 1990 Crazy Horse concert.

ha ha ha, I used to hum this song on the bus. Neil was all over the Reagan trickle down shit and maybe the lyrics are not exactly subtle but sometimes you need a sledge hammer. Of course many critics were baffled and dismayed. Re-Ac-Tor is grossly underestimated. As usual, Neil is a wrench into the machine.

Induct the Horse!
This particular performance of T. Bone is a magnificent example of exactly why Neil Young loves playing with Crazy Horse. It clearly lies in the vibe, and the camaraderie these four guys share. Poncho’s reliability and genuine warmth allows Neil so much freedom to explore his guitar tones and solos. Billy’s solid bass work remains exceedingly under rated, Ralph’s steady hand holds everything together with precision and authority. These guys are completely committed, and in this particular case the T.H.C. has definitely and completely kicked in. The obvious lack of concern for technique over feel truly elevates this performance into that sacred space where art transcends. Of all the songs from Way Down in the Rust Bucket so far, this one really exposes the natural beauty of Neil Young with Crazy Horse. Needless to say, I loved it. Wow.
