Just another reason to be a subscriber on NYA. Neil just keeps on giving. There isn’t another artist out there with a better platform to honor their own legacy.
Peace 🙏
Rest In Peace Peter Green. You were one of the (very few) truly remarkable guitarists of any generation. Your unique gift will live on into the future.
Peace 🙏
I'm sure they'll be out around the same time as Archive Vol. 2... Speaking of, where's the article on the postponement of all this year's releases?
@ Dan - Peter Green was the REAL Mac as we used to say before Rumors, etc.
And most folks always thought Black Magic Woman was a Carlos Santana song, as well. The was always one of those conversation raps back in the days ...
@ Derek - Neil said in LTE just the other day:
"Please check the timeline 2020 for release dates. Some have slipped a little because of the pandemic. But all are still in 2020 except ‘Young Shakespeare’."
None of Rust Bucket, Return To Greendale, Young Shakespeare or Archives Vol. 2 are on the timeline. They were all removed, with no explanation, on the date Return To Greendale was due to be released. It's hardly a surprise that they're delayed, but it's a shame that subscribers aren't getting any information.
More more more....how d'ya like it, how d'ya like it...?
Neil's got a busload of things going on, some are gonna get delayed.
Inconsistency is his most consistent trait!
Stay with it folks, it'll all be here before ya know it!
I mean, it ain't like you gotta wait 46 years for it!
sorry, that last one was me
SONY
Neil related don't skip it!
I have some logistic troubles with my 93 old mother; somehow usual, but hard to solve anyway.
This is in my mind since hours, announced by a phone call.
My mind was distracted only by Zuma, start to finish. Thanks Neil for succedeeding where work, wife, daughter, wine have all failed.
Not the first time, neither the last one for this power.
As far as I'm concerned, the release of Homegrown signifies a promise kept. Certainly can't say that all the releases scheduled for 2020 have fallen by the wayside. Homegrown was pretty much at the top of my Archives wishlist. #2 for me is Toast, owing to my notorious (some would say inexplicable) fascination with AYP?. Also, some good quality recordings of the Horse 2001 tour, beyond what I've found online thus far, would be welcome.
For that matter, what about Neil & the MGs shows from '93? There's a thread here connecting SWA to AYP?. If my understanding is correct, what became SWA started with Booker T. before turning into one of the Horse's most experimental records. Conversely, AYP? evolved from Toast, the only trace of which on the final album is the take of Goin' Home (and possibly the lyrics of She's a Healer: "without that woman, I'm toast"). I've previously referred to AYP?, the album, as grunge-soul, and in some regards, I still think it as the one that got away: a fantastic musical idea at its core, met with difficulties in the execution.
Maybe, when Toast sees the light of day, folks will look at AYP?...differently.
~Through the keyhole in an open door.
About the albums whose publication is delayed, Neil says in LTE that the new dates are in the timeline ... But I don't see anything.
By the way, does somebody note all the NY announcements in LTE about the next releases ? Here's what I've noticed these last few weeks:
- 2020 :Return To Greendale, Rust Bucket and Archives vol.2 which would include at least Tuscaloosa and Roxy + Dume (Zuma's outakes?) + a CD of Homegrown's outakes + maybe Odeon Budokan.
- 2021: Early Daze, Alchemy, Mirror Ball Live, Ragged Glory Extended, Eldorado extended, Island In The Sun and Shakespeare postponed from 2020.
He talked about Toast, live with the Ducks, Boarding House 1978 but no dates.
He mentioned the possible release of Bottom Line 1974, Chrome Dreams, Bootleg Dorothy Chambler 1971.
He also said that the Buffalo 1991 released on NYA would be the subject of a DVD for the subscribers...

Finally, he put forward the idea of an album compiling unreleased songs and, in a letter dated July 26th, he talked about the unreleased album "Summer songs" which would include a first version of For The Love of Man. It's the first time I've heard of this album! Unless that's another name for Island In the Sun.
I may have missed some other announcements... In any case, I bet a lot that everything will be delayed, very very delayed... If we get another release this year, it'll be a miracle.
Thanks everyone.
@ Phil - good run down of what's in the pipeline.
we haven't checked timeline for updates, but we know now there's a new EP coming.
Certainly understand the Uncle Eddie dilemma, but when push comes to shove and Neil has something he wants out now, then that's the way its always been. Look at Homegrown sitting on the shelf for 45 years?! Uncle Eddie should be pleased. Sure hope he's still with us.
@ Uncle Eddie - are you still out there?

So here we are a few months later and they've all been released. What more information do you want?.....:)
