Neil Youpang's 2024 Year in Review: Crazy Horse Fades and The Chrome Heart(s) Burns
So, walk with us on a journey through the past year of 2024 ...
REVIEWS: First Impressions: Live at Fillmore East, 1969 by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Once again, as we conclude 2024, we ponder that age old question: Is Neil Young burning out or fading away?
We've argued that he is neither.
Neil Young is the quintessential survivor. So we here at Thrasher's Wheat say thank you so much for all of the love and support over the past decades from the rustie grains fan communities.

It is these note's for us that keep us going, such as this one from The Extraordinary Grain Man Dan on Thanks for Supporting Thrasher's Wheat.
Last year, we wrapped up 2023 with a post on Thrasher's Wheat's future on Where Do We Go Now ... or Where Did We Go From There?

At the moment, everyone can relax somewhat because Thrasher's Wheat will continue to celebrate Neil Young, his music and the fan communities. So stay tuned for some hopefully exciting announcements in the months ahead as we celebrate our remarkable little milestone as the 2nd longest running music blog in the history of the internet.
Maintaining a robust, healthy, engaged community that allows open, honest and free speech is paramount for us here in Neil / RUST & TW grain communities. There is simply nothing whatsoever which is more important to us and what we do and stand for. Again, thank you so much for reading our articles, sharing them throughout the web, and contributing your own thoughts through comments and messages. Today, more than ever, we need independent thinkers like you folks out there in the rustie-grains village that rely on a solid moral compass – not a pre-determined agenda – to understand this circus, to stand up, to speak up, and to fight for what is right.

What a year! What a website! Thank you for all you do TW!!!
This time of year is fairly hectic for most everyone, and there’s also a lot of stress and even sadness for many. But I would like to thank Thrasher, and Thrasherett for their patience and willingness to endure the responsibility of creating and maintaining this remarkable place for us Rusties. Thanks to you both for your hard work and dedication in keeping us all informed. And creating this safe space for us to share our thoughts and experiences.
Peace to all 🙏

Edited: Thanks so much to Thrasher, Thrashette, and all the people who post comments, and those who help support the blog by donating cash to Thrasher’s Wheat! Bandwidth isn’t free and Thrasher pays the fees, no advertising! See link above to donate. If you have not done so, please do!
Like Dan, I am so grateful for this great blog for Neil Young fanatics! It is a safe place & last bastion of free speech in the internet! Try criticizing the US funding of Genocide in Gaza on any other media! Yes, 2 parties guaranteeing one Genocide in progress. Remember I am part Israeli so I can talk the shit! Yes, because I am Anti Genocide no matter what! No matter who! That’s a “sticky wicket” Thanks for opening your mind and for listening to Neil Young music. Keep On Rocking in the “Free World” (wherever that may be, in our US Oligarchy). Don’t that trouble you brother? Don’t that trouble you pal? That’s life in the (modern American) city!
(Edited):
Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas. Let’s team up and stop the bleeding, the killing, the Genocide in Gaza. The Christmas color Red is supposed to symbolize something else!
Dear Santa, if it wouldn’t be too much trouble, I would like to own NYA3. Thank you! Thank you All! Your Brother Alan in Seattle
PayPal link not working...
@ Growl : Confirmed, PayPal buttons not working at the moment for making donations to Thrasher’s Wheat. Check back for update. I have alerted Thrasher. Merry Christmas Eve! Your Brother Alan in Seattle
So yes, the “Donate” via PayPal links are not working at the moment. Please do check back and follow up to donate. Thrasher pays our way, using his own money, no advertising. Thanks Thrasher! The Greatest place in cyberspace!
To look back on the year is incredible. That old hippie Neil Young has been active! I was lucky with the Love Earth tour, catching it at my Alma mater, SDSU. It’s still called the OAT (0pen Air Theater) in my mind. And what a show!
If the new Chrome Hearts tour is not blocked by some obstacle / etc, God willing, the mortal musician we love will take his band to Europe & hopefully back to the US. There are various places on Earth where the locals are hoping the band comes to them too!
2024 has been a year of, well, an embarrassment of riches once again. Lost love CSNY albums getting released, other lost albums being found (Castle Country, w 7 original unheard songs!!!). Tours planned, attempted, band members struck by illness, and a new tour planned. There has been so much happening it is hard to keep track of! I am grateful for all of you, & Our little place at the top of the internet stairs, with a pipe to share…..
But seriously, TW is so cool! The year end roll out was amazing! So much happened in 2024!
Right now, Thrasher is off flying a sleigh or something. I want to ask you to post your thoughts on the blog. If you have anything to say, to add. Got a story to tell about a Neil Young show or related item? Got something positive to say? Big Shift on the way? Could humans evolve into loving each other and not killing? Light a candle. There’s something ahead worth waiting for. What do you think? Your Brother Alan in Seattle
Title announced for new album of 80s Castle recordings: check out Neil’s story on T-C Music page!
Of course it's the artist's eminent right to name his or her creations. Still I would have preferred "Uncharacteristic", but then I also understand that the irony might be lost on most casual listeners and even might somehow point in the wrong direction. With a creative title like this one and all the songs with state names (e.g "Colorado") and other territories ("Mexico") stricken from the list as well, there is a catalogue of about 35+ options remaining for the future .
Thanks again everyone for visiting and dropping a comment!
Apologies on broken links all over the floor.
The TW PayPal donation link is now fixed. Please let us know if any issues encountered.
Per Brother Alan's suggestion, we do appreciate the support. We did not make our annual fund drive this year during Thanksgiving due to a variety of factors. And with this broken link, it looks like we missed our minimal fund raising goals. We do this only once a year, so for those less inclined to give and share, this was your lucky year.
We do look forward to 2025 and wish everyone all the best in the new year.
PayPal link now fully functional. Thrasher, thanks for keeping the flag flying for all those of us in the NY universe. I have been very quiet of late as had trouble logging in for comments (now seems to be solved) and got out of the habit. I no longer receive any emails from you, have these broadcasts been discontinued?
Hoping that Neil will tour UK in the summer, if not I will have to venture to Continental Europe or the States. My last gig was Berlin 2019 and the itch must be scratched soon.
Best wishes to all for 2025.
