From Neil Young Films Alchemy Concert Movie In Melbourne, Australia | Live | Music News | Noise11 by Paul Cashmere on March 14, 2013:
Tonight, Neil Young fans got to see him up close and personal for one of his most ferocious shows ever, with thanks to his band of pitbulls, Crazy Horse. I challenge any musician even two thirds younger than 67-year old Neil Young to go a few rounds with him on stage. He would destroy you musically.
I’ve seen Neil Young on every one of his Australian tours and by far this was his most powerful. In total, three hours from head to toe. Neil Young & Crazy Horse were like a hurricane this evening.
Tonight he was totally switched to 11.
"Adventure # 3: We held off holding the sign “ Arkansas Girls ♥ Crazy Horse” that Tami had sent from Arkansas, till they had nearly finished playing “Cinnamon Girl.” Carolyn held it up & Ralph spotted the sign first, & then pointed a drumstick toward us & mouthed to me, “Are you’re Michael?” I nodded & mouthed back “Yes.” He nodded back at me... Then Billy spotted the sign & his face lit up like an infield fly. The biggest smile came over his face & the moment was magic & captured for all to see... Billy pointed the sign out to Neil, & Neil had this big grin on his face as well.. Job done Tami & done well... More on the sign later.... The best part.. — with Billy Talbot."

Yes! Super stoked for this. Alchemy was the only NY show I’ve been to, so I guess I’m doin alright. But I saw em at Austin City Limits Festival, which had to be a somewhat shorter set (still about 2 hrs though - epic Ramada Inn). Looking forward to cracking this one open on the Timeline!
I enjoyed the Melbourne performance rather more than the Hunter Valley recording from a few days earlier. The set list was stronger, and maybe Neil and the boys were more in the groove somehow.
My favourites so far have been:
1) Paris '89
2) Boulder '76
3) Belfast 2016.
This is such as great addition to the NYA service, I cant wait to find out what is released next. Hopefully something from a tour not yet featured.
Steve, Paris is my #1 as well. Such a unique presentation of Freedom Live!
I live in Brisbane and look so hard at going down...even brought a ticket but budget concerns and decided better not...the one that got away...Though I did go to Hunter Valley and Brisbane show...also the 2 New Zealand shows...Hurricane in Wellington with lots of close friend's from Nelson was very special. Opera star in Auckland was something nice
I've got a theory Venue... Neil and CH just goto another level when the venue is special or old classic. So I guess if you have to pick a gig or two to see then aim for the special spot. But will they ever tour again?
Great performance !!!!
I’ve been waiting for the Alchemy release ever since it was rumoured- this makes the wait easier for sure
Just finished listening to this epic performance and I must say, what an incredible show!!!! The Horse is really in the groove and Neil’s guitar work is just outstanding. And the set list is just perfect on every level. I just can’t believe how fortunate we all are to be able to hear these amazing Timeline shows, as each one is special in its own way. This Alchemy Tour was unquestionably one of the finest in Crazy Horse history. Both these Timeline shows from that tour could easily have been an official release, yet here they are just for us to enjoy here on NYA.
Neil is about to break all the records (I think) for the number of releases ( if everything goes as planned) in a single year by a single artist and I couldn’t be happier. We are truly blessed with how Neil is dealing with this pandemic and the amount of quality music he has gifted us with just in the past year. An embarrassment of riches just when we needed it the most. Thanks Neil.
Peace 🙏
