Are you sure about the YOTH DVD? Videos and DVDs are subjecto to frequent repackaging, sometimes the inner paper inlay (is that what it's called in English?)can be turned around to make for a different outside.
Someone bought me the Bottom Line 1974 Broadcast CD as a gift on Amazon last year. I have never bought a Neil Young bootleg before. I used to trade tapes when the internet and I were young. The bootleg is a high quality FM Broadcast.
On a Separate subject...Are you all watching and enjoying the live shows popping up on Movietone? Like An Inca is an amazing opener with PotR in Santa Barbara 2018. New shows are popping up lately. I am probably the last to notice. More value at NYA. Rust tier membership: It’s worth a lot to me. Alan in Seattle
@ Alan: I never bought a Neil Young bootleg either, but a friend of mine gifted me with a copy of Dorothy Chandler several years ago on vinyl. I did purchase several Beatles studio recordings on the Yellow Dog label on CD. They were actually taken from the original tapes at EMI. I have no idea how anyone got away with that, but now they are all being officially released through Apple. Bootleg recordings were always a tricky proposition, and always fairly expensive too. I’m just happy Neil is doing this series so he can make some money for himself since it’s his work.
Movietone is definitely a wonderful addition to NYA. The shows just keep coming, it’s awesome.
Peace 🙏
Glad you are enjoying the Movietone shows, Dan! I am intrigued by the Beatles recordings you mentioned! Alan in Seattle
Yes, I wish they had continued the 1963 Beatles releases to following years. That was to beat the copyright expiration, but unfortunately (for fans), they passed legislation (EU?) to clear up that loophole.
Bootlegs, the dilemma, I wanted everything DYLAN in 1963, so bought Great White Wonder, then everything after, some of the material was fantastic and should have been on the albums but for DYLANS peversity.
SAME now for NY I chose not to purchase Bootlegs at record fairs both for fact NY not benefiting and, as mentioned ,RIP OFF prices but as result coudn,t replace my VHS of BERLIN get UNPLUGGED or WELD and there seem no logical reason why these weren,t put out here in uk,
Not that Logic and NY are acquainted.
Last year had opportunity to, and took, to buy job lot of 20cds, mainly dbl, Warpath 4cd,1971>2003 and have to admit don,t regret, lot of stuff that that,s scheduled plus TRANS etc.
If only NY had got his act together 10 years ago to start off a slow, controlled regular release program we all, including him, would have benefitted, and he would have had better control of his heritage and funding model for NYA and his family.
He has left things so long he has lost so many of us to old age and now the flood of releases puts a high cost on the dwindling remainder, and I suspect most will have to be selective to there regret.
You cant get in life what you want when you want it. all the best.mel
True Fact: the 1974 recording of the Bottom Line did not originate as a broadcast. Someone may have broadcast the bootleg tape -- widely in circulation in cassette form -- and then someone else may have recorded that broadcast.
