Aretha Franklin: An Appreciation
Somewhat like -- and very unlike -- some of those years of Neil Young past -- 2018 was one of the most "newsworthy" ever -- in terms of quantity and quality -- years of all. While 2018 was the year "Triumph & Tragedy", it nears completion with the career milestone of "Neil Young's Archive being "the biggest archival site dedicated to and operated by any major recording artist in history.".
The triumph of the announcement of Bob Dylan & Neil Young co-headlining concert in London in 2019 and the tragic loss of his home with newlywed wife Daryl Hannah in the California fires. Such is the duality of Neil and the surreality of that duality.
All in a dream...
We began 2018 an epic post -- even by TW standards -- on A Happy New Year for 2018's "Children of Destiny" , yet here we all are -- both irrevocably changed -- and yet still much the same as we ever were.
2018 had many amazing highlights as noted above for both Neil Young and Thrasher's Wheat.
We here at Thrasher's Wheat say thank you so much for all of the love and support over the past decades from the rustie fan communities.
Once again, we ponder that age old question: Is Neil burning out or fading away? We argue that he is neither. Neil Young is the quintessential survivor.
We had our moments here on TW in 2018 as you can see both above and below. And we must be doing something right here at TW. Afterall, Facebook suspended our account back in 2015 and we continue to be blocked on a number of fronts when trying to exercise our freedom of speech. So much chaff (fake news). So little wheat (truth). Even Neil Young declared: FACEBOOK UNCOVERED: How They Lied To You | Neil Young's Archives (NYA) Times-Contrarian .
But we've got a job to do. This is our journey, our self-appointed task. And we won't quit.
Nonetheless, we celebrate the music, achievements and all the good folks at Shakey Pictures. Onwards to 2019!
As for us? Well, Thrasher's Wheat will continue to celebrate Neil Young, his music and the fan community. So stay tuned for some hopefully exciting announcements in the months ahead as we celebrate our remarkable little milestone as the longest running music blog on the internet. So we'll see you down the road in 2019.
peace & love,
thrasher & thrashette

ps - Again, thank you so much for reading our articles, sharing them throughout the web, and contributing your own thoughts through comments and messages. Today, more than ever, we need independent thinkers like you folks out there in the rustie-village that rely on a solid moral compass – not a pre-determined agenda – to understand this circus, to speak up, and to fight for what is right.
Our work is far from done. See you in 2019!

FYI Neil's Solo shows in Chicago were on June 30 and July 1, 2018, at the Auditorium Theatre. I was there both nights and it was mesmerizing! Thanks for this exellent recap of an amazing amazing year.

Happy holidays to everyone and especially to you TW
Thank you Thrashers (both of you) for your hard work and commitment to this Neil Young sit. Thank you to the community that continues to visit here and contribute such varied and insightful input. I appreciate all the diversity of opinions and information that finds its way home to Thrashers Wheat each day.
May we all enjoy this holiday season with family and friends, and perhaps this coming year will not only bring new and unreleased music from Neil, but perhaps even more important, a turn in the tide of our human experience here on our fragile planet.
Peace to all and God (or Buddha, Alllah, Krishna, or the Universe) bless our beautiful home we call EARTH.
Happy holidays to all no matter what you celebrate. Thanks Thrasher for this amazing site. And don't know if you alm saw that Neil is playing with Crazy Horse for the Winnipeg shows. And streaming one.
You guys are amazing!! Thank you for all that you do!!
Although I'm in disagreement with some folks here when it comes to politics and other generic stuff, when it involves Neil news of any sort, this is an absolutely wonderful site. Thanks Thrasher, for all that you do.
My favorite memory of 2018 was seeing Neil and POTR at the tiny Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara in June. Like An Inca, baby!
@ Richard Siciliano, Your statement that politics is generic made my day. Thank you with all sincerity.
Thanks to all for your support in 2018 and over the years!
It really means a lot to us to be able to share the joy of Neil, especially this time of year as we curl up by the homefires with a wintry beverage.
So all the best and we'll catch up in the new year!
Happy Holidays!
thrasher & thrasherette
Merry Christmas Rust-Eyes. Wishing you a nice Holiday.

Keep your eyes on the NYA Hearse Theatre guys
Neil is playing the film of the 'Hometown' concert (Dec 2017 solo in Ontario) for the next week,
...till New Year's.
@ romat73 - thanks for the news on 'Hometown' concert. definitely worth a repeat view. Although we don't recall the intro opening scenes in the original broadcast? Wonder if that was added after broadcast?
@ All - just updated 2018 highlights and realized this was a 3 release year. Definitely one of the more prolific release years for Neil.
wonder what 2019 will bring?
Pegi RIP

Thanks for putting this together. It was a very packed year and 2019 is off to quite a start already.
