Great show last night in Chicago.

Homefires, Birds, Love and War all special. Neil was in great mood and told many stories. In particular, the story of the piano that Amber painted.

The audience yahoos didn't seem to phase Neil.

Great seeing everyone at rustfest last night. Thanks Timmy and Mary for organizing. See you again tonight!

I agree. I thought all things considered the audience was just fine. I am 39 years old, my 18th Neil.show but was able to bring my father and step mom to their first Neil shows. They are not huge fans, but have always appreciated good things. My step mom was brought to tears a few times and my dad's quote " I wanted to see Neil Young just to say I had seen him. I had no idea how spectacular it would be" Neil was funny and very vulnerable . This is a show like no other I've seen. Thanks Thrasher for all you do btw .

Thrasher, your photos are incredible! A guy sitting in front of us was caught for the third time video recording and was removed! I thought they’d just make him delete everything and let him come back, but he never returned. I could not get a decent picture to save my life; I was way too shaky. I got one snippet of video of Ohio and that was it. Bill and I loved this show and had a great time at Rustfest. So glad I ran into you before the show! ~Liz

ya know what?
It's a concert.
You are NOT in control.
If people yell, they yell.
SO what....people are having a good time.
it isn't church, people.
Enjoy the experience for what it is, warts and all.
And I tell ya, some large woman behind was really rude as my friends and I whispered to each other our excitement over the show and song selection.
WE weren't bothering anyone. But she kept tapping my friend's wife on the shoulder to shush her...notice she wouldn't tap on a male's shoulder....wonder why?
I'm glad she didn't do it one more time because I was about stand up and tell her some rude shit.
But, in reality, after the show, I turned around and addressed her very nicely: Hey, I'm sorry if we disturbed you. She replied she was sorry for being a bitch. I gave her a hug and said no worries.

So it all worked out in the end.
Again, it AIN'T YOUR concert....it's ours.
Some like to be boisterous.
It is part of the game.
Etiquette, my eye. ENJOY YOURSELF AND DON"T LET PEOPLE BRING YOU DOWN>

just my thoughts, but next time, and it's out of my control but my good friend Mothyham will slap the shit out of a bitch if hands are laid on his mates.

Check Neil's comments on the Contrarian. It sounds like something momentous might be announced
after tonight's show. A NYA solo tour maybe?

ahhhhh. Auditorium Theater. It always takes me back to my freshman in college days, and the trip from Lincoln NE to see Neil for the first time. Thanksgiving vacation. November, 1973. Tonight's the Night, baby. Wish I could join you all for these shows. Jealous in LA. I hope the audiences STFU!

Was fabulous to see hope relaxed Neil was... walking around the stage, picking an instrument, and then singing whatever came to mind with that instrument...so honest and moving!

From where I was sitting, the crowd was shockingly quiet at the times when it mattered. Neil's instruments and voice all sounded amazing. Great show! My first since '99 and third altogether.

@Unknown: Don't think things are quite so spontaneous as he makes it seem, considering the setlists were nearly identical for St. Louis and Chicago night one (except the latter was a little longer). Would expect more of the same tonight, though he might mix it up a bit more the second night in the same city.

Seeing Neil in concert IS going to church. When you are in the audience for any concert, you sit in your seat, you STFUA, and you do not draw attention to yourself or infringe on others' freedom to watch a brilliant artist in silence. PUT THE PHONES DOWN AND GIVE THE PERFORMER SOME RESPECT.

@Adam2 - Thank you! Well said. Neil Solo is a different animal from tours with The Horse or POTR.

Near perfect confluence of artist, architecture, music, and acoustics; Neil Young performing under Louis Sullivan’s tympanum arch. The theatre wasn't named the Auditorium for nothing.

I thought show #1 calmed down after someone yelled "Powderfinger" and immediately was told STFU by another fan.

Last night in Chicago was sublime ... from the pre-show Rustie meet-up and opportunity to meet Thrasher for the first time to the warm up act and the show it was all fantastic. Thanks to Neil's ticket policy we were up front and hanging with a bunch of hardcore fans, folks who mostly all flew in some from as far away as Europe. There were a few gems he left out of the set list (Birds, Cowgirl, War of Man) from the previous night but we got the debut of One More Sign and everyone said Neil was looser that the previous night ... have never seen him so loose and talkative and he took all the obnoxious yelling and requests in stride ... Musically an amazing experience, every song he played with deep feeling and soulfulness ... looking forward to the livestream tmrw night and then to Boston on 7/11.

Timmy & Mary here. If NY makes a stop in Chicago on the next tour leg, you all can count on us hosting another RustFest. Great to meet you Thrasher and thanks for the lapel pin.
