Unlike some of those years of Neil Young past -- 2016 was one of the most frustrating -- yet perversely gratifying -- years of all. 2016 was the year it all got REAL and became "The Year of The Wheat".
So much chaff (fake news). So little wheat (truth).
But we've got a job to do. This is our journey, our self-appointed task. And we won't quit.
We began 2016 as the looming "Big Shift" rolled on, yet here we all are -- both irrevocably changed -- and yet still much the same as we ever were.
2016 had many amazing highlights as noted above for both Neil Young and Thrasher's Wheat.
2016 is the year that we here at Thrasher's Wheat celebrated our 20th anniversary of archiving Neil Young news music and rustie fan communities.
Once again, we ponder that age old question: Is Neil burning out or fading away? We argue that he is neither. Neil Young is the quintessential survivor.
We had our moments here on TW in 2016 as you can see both above and below. And we must be doing something right here at TW. Afterall, Facebook suspended our account in 2015 and we continue to be blocked on a number of fronts when trying to exercise our freedom of speech.
Nonetheless, we celebrate the music, achievements and all the good folks at Shakey Pictures. Onwards to 2017!
As for us? Well, Thrasher's Wheat will continue to celebrate Neil Young, his music and the fan community. So stay tuned for some hopefully exciting announcements in the months ahead as we celebrate our remarkable little milestone as the longest running music blog on the internet. So we'll see you down the road in 2017.
peace & love,

ps - For all of you who help us wage heavy wheat and made contributions of support recently, thank you notes have been going out and we hope to get them all completed by the end of the year. Apologies on delay and we truly appreciate your support.
It means that much to us, to mean that much to you.

Thank you Thrashers Wheat for your passion and heart. You handle the news with dignity and grace, even when a few of your guests get snarky. I really appreciate the site and visit daily, and although I don't always comment, I'm always here. I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful new year.
The same wish goes out to all the folks who visit here.
Peace to you all.
the Neil Young fan clan. we are not so much the most aesthetically pleasing group ?lol No Offense. I include myself. Merry Christmas Rusties. Thank you for the site Thrashers Wheat. HNY 2017
Thrasher,
Thanks for the exceptional service called TW that you provide for so many of us … wishing you and yours a warm and Happy Holidays and wonderful 2017!
Dan
Ditto what Dan just said. I enjoy and thoroughly appreciate your work thrasher and this site!
2016 was a terrible year for humanity but wonderful year to listen and view Neil's inspired work.
It was a special year for us and my partner and i were fortunate enough to see him in concert in Belfast, telluride, desert trip and bridge school. Also the LANHM Earth release listening party and Stephen stills' rock autism event.
A few thoughts: Neil seems younger and more invigorated playing with POR. We saw him with the band live 5x in 2015 and they sounded so much tighter and blow me away with their ability to play just about anything from Neil's immense catalog.
I personally loved Earth and been listening to peace trail every night this week. His lyrics may be less evocative and more literal on the new songs but for me his music is more relevant than ever.
Peace to all, indeed.
Thrasher, I hope the holidays & new year provide as many smiles for you & the Mrs as this site brought me in 2016. I'm grateful for what you do here & I've never met him but I bet Neil is too. Peace
Thanks to all for being here in the years. We could not do it with out you. See you in 2017.

I can't improve on Dan Swan's comments. Merry Christmas Thrasher and Thrashette, and to all.
God Bless- A Friend Of Yours
Happy HoliDaze
from TopangaDaze
may Neil show us Wayze
through the Haze
of our human Maze
as we listen while he Playze
though from a few, no words of Praize
but our negativity will not Faze
the new musical terrain he will Graze
or the flag of peace he'll always Raize
through new journeys he will Blaze
while the Archives waits as he Delayze
the creep of time and all it Portraze
Seriously, may everyone find peace, happiness, contentment and the greatest gift of all--helping others, and may we all continue to live in interesting times...
Take my advice
Don't listen to me
One of us, one of us, We will make you one of us! Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas.
Best of the Holidays to you and Thrashette! Thanks again for your unwavering commitment to Neil Young, his continuing artistry, and his political dedication. We all know, as this summary reflects, so much more about the art and artist through your focus and your excellent website. On a personal note, I was psyched to see the May 1 Jazzfest gig as one of the highlights of the year ( as well as those epic Telluride shows) as it was for me, but was a little bummed that you didn't reuse my review and photo of that rainy day. Oh well, I hope to have a chance for another in 2017. Cheers!
@ Greg - Thanks a lot for the kind words to echo Dan's. You guys make it all worthwhile.
@ TopangaD - Thanks for the Z's! And we are all living in interesting times. It is hoped that 2017 brings all the best to so many who deserve better times.
@ wsanjose01 - yes, yes, we are one of us!
@ BC - thanks for the reminder. Post updated to include your excellent Be The Rain report from New Orleans Jazzfest. 8/9 songs in 2 hours would be a dream concert for many. Others, not so much. Glad you guys toughed it out under the circumstances and enjoyed one of the more unusual Neil concerts of all time.
Thrasher
For all you do, this note's for you!
May Peace Love and Joy be yours always.
Here's to the new horizons that 2017 will bring for us all.
