Songs by Neil Young For Weddings: "Rachel Getting Married" | Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Song "Unknown Legend" by Neil Young (Sung by Tunde Adebimpe)

There are many songs by Neil Young that have been performed at weddings over the decades.

"Unknown Legend", from the 1992 Neil Young album Harvest Moon is a frequent wedding song. Here the song "Unknown Legend" is sung by Tunde Adebimpe in the Jonathan Demme film "Rachel Getting Married" released in 2008. For the wedding scene, actor Adebimpe skips the vows and sings directly to his new wife (played by Anne Hathaway) an a cappella version of Young’s “Unknown Legend”. Also, Tunde Adebimpe is the lead singer of the band "TV on the Radio."

Another perpetually popularly appropriate wedding song by Neil Young is "Harvest Moon" from the 1992 album.

For us here at Thrashers Wheat will always hold a special place. Many may recall in 2008 when a couple in love requested "Harvest Moon" in concert while Neil Young performed in Brisbane, Australia. And by some extremely wonderfully little miracle, Neil Young performed "Harvest Moon" that night and it brought a tear of joy for many around the world.

Or the time A Wish for "Harvest Moon" is Granted for Liza at the 2009 concert in Köln, Germany.

The Thrasher's Wheat Song of The Moment is "I'm Glad I Found You" (Solo version) by Neil Young from 2014 album Storytone .

Song of The Day is a new feature here on Thrasher's Wheat. The very first Song of The Day was "Married Man" by Neil Young & The Bluenotes. All of which was inspired by the Neil Young Song Of The Day -- running on the Neil Young Archives site -- which also contains Neil's messages along with song, such as August 24th's "Heart of Gold" and Neil's touching comments on his memories of innocence.

Neil Young's Song Of The Day: "Heart of Gold" + 1971 Interview

Neil Young's Song Of The Moment for 8-24-18 is "Heart of Gold".

The "Song Of The Moment" feature on Neil Young Archives site also contains Neil's message and the video above.

The video interview of Neil Young is from what is known as the 1971 Dutch documentary unreleased film by Wim Van der Linden which has circulated over the decades. Shot primarily on Neil Young's Broken Arrow ranch shortly after it's purchase by the "rich hippie", the film contains the famous scene which inspired the song "Old Man" about the California rancher who can not fathom how a 25 year old musician could make such a purchase.

Neil Young's "Song of the Moment": "Are You Ready The Country?"

Neil Young's "Song of the Moment" is "Are You Ready The Country?" with the Stray Gators from the "In the Barn" footage shot on September 26, 1971.

The "Song of the Moment" is a daily feature on the Neil Young Archives. Neil seems to be digging into the "Barn Sessions" recorded on his Broken Arrow Ranch for the Harvest album. We posted recently on Neil Young Remembers "The Innocence": WORDS with a playback of the "Words" song in a field on his ranch Broken Arrow filmed by cinematographer David Myers.
