I can't add up all the discs for 2021 and 2022 on my fingers and toes.
Do we have any mathematicians?
Rust Bucket. 2 CDs + DVD
Retail NYA vol 2. 10 CDs
Young Shakespeare 1 CD + 1 DVD
Bootleg Series. 6 CDs
Eldorado 1 CD
ORS 4. 4 CDs
ORS 5 5 CDs
Alchemy 2 CDs + 1 DVD
That's 2021 (so far) without Road of Plenty.
I THINK that's 31 CDs + 3 DVDs.
Crazy. Good crazy, but crazy.
Nice summary, can you confirm, what albums are covered in ORS volumes 4 & 5, and when are they being released.
And, as the “Eldorado” EP, is being reissued in vinyl, then i assume this will be included with volume 4?
It’s hard to keep up with them all
NY also spoke of, for 2021:
- an album of the 2019 tour with POTR: "Noise and Flowers";
- Mirror Ball (DVD and CD);
- Timeless Orpheum on DVD;
- Toast (which would finally be finished);
- and a series of concerts from the 1991 Weld Tour
Not to mention a new album (of which 4 songs would be written and one recorded).
It is obviously impossible that all this will come out in 2 years...
Especially since he may start new projects after COVID. Maybe the first album of the Crosby-Young band ? :-)
I hope it won't be limited editions that only the financially well-off will be able to afford. All these releases should remain accessible in the long term.
Hanlon says ORS 4 is
Hawks and Doves
Reactor
This Note's For You
Eldorado
Prevailing theory is release date is 5/28
Neil says ORS 5 is
Freedom
Ragged Glory Extended
Weld
Release date is 7/6
Dates and contents subject to change
@KenH,
Thanks for the recap.
No “Arc” ! , well it was always an addon wasn’t it.
I was thinking, “Weld” might be 3 vinyls, as the original 2lp version is really stretched, well beyond acceptable sonic limits on vinyl. The 4th side exceeds 30 minutes, and the other 3 sides are not far behind
Vast treasures! Mounds of music! Thank you Neil Young! Alan in Seattle
IIs the “45 mono mix” version of Cinnamon Girl included anywhere in NYA or the futures lineup? Love the different vocals mix, the “ok” fronm Danny, and Those Handclaps! Available, and easily found, on YouTube if any of you haven’t heard it. Seriously — worth your 3 minutes...
Classic picture of Neil in a warm looking animal hide ... Eh ? How Organic and real is that !
I hear some of you bluecoat Yankees are in the midst of a deep freeze ...... too bad there lads .
Your senile demented President Biden put the kybosh to the Keystone Pipeline , his choice dirty Saudi oil vs clean Canadian crude .
Let us know when you wanta warm up ... we'll turn the taps on to clean energy .
In the mean time huddle close and try and keep warm there green guru bluecoats !
Fort Mac,
A real Southern Man!
I noticed while reading the letters section yesterday that Neil mentioned two films that would be included in NYA Volume Three. The animated Trans film and the Berlin concert. Volume One included Journey Through the Past film, so who knows. Perhaps Volume Three will include more than just music..... time will tell.....
Peace 🙏
What great releases to look forward too for us fans...but it's a greater gift that Neil is still here on earth to have control and the vision of his legacy....unlike the countless post mortem releases from certain artist...like hendrix or elvis.
Dear Fort Mac,
Where I live, in the US, the average highs and lows in the winter are colder than many parts of Canada (Montreal and Toronto for example) and so we do not need any pity. Secondly, you should know that calling a person "senile" isn't just bad manners, it is unethical. Finally, your pipelines have resulted in gross environmental injustices. In 25 years we won't need your "clean" carbon crap, we will be solar and wind powered. Listen to "Someday" on Freedom.
@ Fort Mac : Why so angry? Come on friend, life is too short to be bitter. Cheer up.... we’re all going to die sooner or later so please try to be kind to your fellow rusties. At least we have that one thing in common, your anger is not needed here, nor is it necessary. Thanks.
Peace 🙏
Fort Mac,
Have you conveniently forgotten that Texas is also having it's coldest spell for 30 years? Or is that Biden's fault also?
Why not just be nice to people?
Tar sands Canadian oil is way more polluting than any other kind. It is the dirtiest. Get your facts straight. Trump is a more dangerous idiot sociopath planet wrecker.
You are instigating with simpleton musings and insulting jabs. It is you who are the angry one. Why visit this page just to lift you leg? Throw your Hatred down. It’s an Angry world in ruined Fort Mac. It looks like Hiroshima. And you want to export that?
Weird weather is the new normal. You should read more science news. The polar vortex is caused by mid latitude winds in the Arctic failing, due to warming. You have been breathing to much air tainted with tar sands. Dirty, dirty tar sands oil is 30 x more pollutive than OPEC oil. We are going to stop burning it anyhow. Why build a pulp Elaine to Canada can ship the dirty stuff overseas for refinement?
And by the way, what musicians do you like? Rhymes with “Take a hike.”
That’s “Why build a pipeline” , not Pulp or Elaine. No offense to Elaine.
We come here for Neil’s music. You come here to poke us with a stick. You are mad that moron Trump is out. I cannot sympathize. Neither can Trump. In his case, he is a sociopath narcissist. His fans are on a spectrum I don’t associate with much. If you must come here, just talk music. You are pretending you have good intentions. Save it, Fort Mac.
My replies were all intended for Fort Mac. I got a little carried away. Alan in Seattle
@ FT Mac Repliers - folks, pls relax on Ft MAC. Ft MAC has been dropping by every few months to drop similar non-nonsensical comments for many years now going back to about 2014 or so. About the time of Honor The Treaties tour.
best to ignore.
so one might ask, "hey thrasher, why don't you delete before allowing everyone to get their 2 cents.
well, good question.
1, we have an ever evolving Comments Policy here @ TW.
we are quite adverse to deleting comments except on the most egregious cases. As a hard core 1st Amendment supporter, we 're very interested in opinion diversity and an open exchange of ideas.
so by allowing contrarian thoughts, it gives us an opportunity to consider non-mainstream opinions, which is invaluable in the ever constricting public square of debate, where even the most benign assertions are attacked.
2. we think that our long time readers recognize Ft Mac for what it is -- a zombie troll-bot to be ignored.
@thrasher
While it is your blog, you make the rules and say what's fair and it's lots of fun to have you here, I disagree with regard to the reactions to FM trolling. I think it is necessary to stand up to these attempts to disturb this forum for our own sake. FM trolling gives you and us the opportunity to declare who we are and why we are here in the first place. That's a healthy thing to do every once in a while, I believe. It might be a burden to you as this site's owner. But I am interested in these reactions from Alan, Dan, Abner and other contributors. I have been extensively researching in Northern Alberta, been inside the tar sand operations and went to jail for blocking oil development in unceded aboriginal territory west of that area. All that happened in the late 80's and 90's and I am very pleased that all across North America (and Europe) there are human beings who by now know about these problems. Their opinions are the result of their own critical curiosity and the work of my friends (and a tiny, tiny bit of the efforts by people like me). Back in the 80's and 90's FM attitudes were the general or majority opinion and maybe in Alberta they still are. There is a reason why Neil Young went there.
@ Dionys - this is very good feedback and we appreciate your sharing here.
like everything, there's a fine line somewhere. as you mention, there is value in the exchange. maybe not for everyone, but folks hearing an alternative opinion and be allowed to debate is healthy, no doubt.
again, this is why Ft Mac wasn't summarily blocked/banned/deleted.
but it is a challenge to try and adjudicate comment forums. fortunately, it has gotten better year over year since the peak insanity around 2006 & LWW.
(for those curious, TW made Rolling Stone news & neil himself actually had to step in. see http://neilyoungnews.thrasherswheat.org/2010/08/vista-and-muse.html )
lastly, as always, thanks for keeping it clean here. afterall, we are talking about dirty and clean energy, which is very hot topic right now, especially in Texas.
sorry TX folks, stay warm and safe as you can. we'll be expecting much more chatter on merits of clean vs dirty energy in the coming months ...
Sorry Thrasher. He probably got the responses he wanted from me, but I allowed him to get under my skin too easily. I appreciate your free speech values. I am very glad this site survived 2008. Thanks. I will try to keep it positive and keep the good vibes flowing. Alan in Seattle
Trump has nothing to do with Neil Young Archives volume 3. So I don't really think much into it about some pro Nazi guy who posted a pro Trumpy comment. Now what interests me now and in the past decade,s is what will be on the next volume of the archives, and will we get a Blu Ray or DVD option to buy at least the video part of the archives? Because iff the power outages happen again or society collapses, then we can at least fire up our generators and be able to watch and listen to the Neil Young video and concerts, because the website won't work without internet. Even if there's a nuclear war and I survive for even one day after that, I want a hard copy, so I can pass the time with my Neil Young music collection.
You make a great point here and clearly your priorities are in order. I too want to by all the Archives stuff on Blu ray, anything I can get my hands on. I own all the NY Blu rays so far. Except Rust Never Sleeps. My DVD copy is good enough for that. Peace. Alan in Seattle
So far Neil has mentioned that Berlin and the Animated Trans films will be included in Volume 3. He did not mention what format, (BluRay or DVD 🤞
Peace 🙏
In 1971 / 1972 Dutch TV broadcasted a documentary by Dutch Wim van der Linden. It showed Neil on his ranch and during a live show. Has this ever been used or released by Neil? Just curious.
The idea is to GET OFF all fossil fuels ASAP. Why would Biden allow the start of a new contract,Limey? Trump is not only a moron he's a criminal. Remember that. FU
