REVIEW - First Impressions of Neil Young Archives Volume II (1972 - 1976) Boxset | Old Grey Cat
While reactions and reviews continue to gush forth for the Neil Young Archives Volume II (1972 - 1976) boxset -- released on Nov. 20 -- it does seem that at long last just about everyone has received their boxset by now, finally.
Here is an excerpt from a review on First Impressions of Neil Young Archives Volume II (1972 - 1976) Boxset | Old Grey Cat:
I’ve been holding off on writing about Neil Young’s Archives Vol. II, which was released on November 20, 2020, until I finished listening to each and every of its 10 discs.
For those not in the know, it covers the fertile period from 11/15/1972 through 3/10/76, when he recorded such classic albums as Tonight’s the Night, On the Beach and Zuma – and held back a treasure trove of audio delights, including the since-released Tuscaloosa and Homegrown LPs. Also recorded during the timespan: the ill-fated Stills-Young collaboration Long May You Run. In total, 63 of the 131 tracks are previously unreleased, though the bulk of those are alternate or live versions of known songs.
Twelve tunes are – theoretically speaking – brand-new to our ears. (I say “theoretically” because a few, such as the tender “Sweet Joni,” have been available on bootlegs for decades.)
Thanks for review OGC! You're right -- it’s time to saddle up the Horse and go for a ride!

Not yet received return to greendale from the UK Store.
Anyone ?
Thanks
Me neither. I had an email on 4th December saying there was a delay in stock arriving from the supplier
Hopefully
Archives vol II is in the house
Thanks for the information
I'm envious of many of you. Still waiting for my Archives II here in Canada.
Hi everyone, still eagerly awaiting my Archives II (in the UK, ordered from the UK store). Wondering if it's because I have a copy of Return to Greendale in the same order? So frustrating. And so disappointing that my messages to the Greedy Hand Store etc. just seem to be ignored. Is anyone else in the UK still waiting for theirs?

Hello, I finally received my box this morning, after 5 weeks and just in time to put it under the Christmas tree... The UK store had warned me on the 14th December that my package was on its way but I only received a tracking number yesterday Tuesday... I live in Belgium and the delivery was made by DPD.
The packaging arrived torn and smashed but the box itself is fortunately intact...
I received a 10% voucher for my next purchase from the UK store, valid for only one year. I'm not sure if I'm going to order anything from them again and I would have preferred a cash back... But hey, end of story.
The box is nice but I think that for the price we could have had some goodies, there is plenty of free space inside...
Otherwise, on the content of the archives, it's very rich and I play in loop the albums The Old Homestead and Dume (the CH versions of Ride My Llama, Kansas, Powderfinger and Hawaii are sublime) ... And of course Goodbye Christians On The Shore which is exceptional...
On the other hand, Walk On is a not very consistent album of unreleased tracks and Odeon Budokan is really too short, I expected much more...
NY says he will add outtakes on NYA but the concept of archive outtakes is beyond me !!!
Merry Christmas to all and take care of you and your loved ones...
Phil
Also, listen to the bootleg Paris 1989 on NYA's timeline... The sound is excellent and the performances great with rare accoustic versions like No More, Eldorado, F*** up... and even a few seconds of T-Bone a capella... This concert deserves an official release among the NYAPS...
@ Phil - so glad your box has arrived in times for the holidays finally.
Hopefully it'll bring much joy to your household.
and hopefully everyone else will be receiving their box in times for the holidays ass well.
in the meantime -- as Phil suggests - check out Paris 89!
enjoy
