1st Track from Neil Young Archives Volume II: "Come Along And Say You Will"
The first track from Neil Young Archives Volume II "Come Along And Say You Will" is now streaming on NYA.
The track "Come Along And Say You Will" is with the Stray Gators from 1972, Sometimes titled variously as "Lonely Weekend/Politician/Lonely Politician". The most likely source is a studio recording from the Time fades Away/Last Dance sessions/tour rehearsals.
Recorded at Broken Arrow Ranch with Ben Keith, Tim Drummond and Kenny Buttrey.
Folks may recall back in 2016 that we posted news that Neil Young Archives Volume #2: "Nearly completed and should surface in 2017".
As they say, you know how time fades away.
But it does seem that at long last Volume #2 is getting close, coming only 11 years after Vol #1 as covered last month in the ARCHIVES VOL. II: 1972-1976 - Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set will be released on November 20.

I really like this song. I’ve listened to it twice and it’s a really catchy melody. Does anyone know when preorder is for Volume 2? There is no mention of it on NYA. Looking forward to finally hearing this wonderful collection. Eleven years is a long wait, but I’m optimistic about Volume 3 not taking that long. Fingers crossed 🤞

Thank you Neil, for heading the call for non U.S. fans who want to ore-order the Archives 2 box set, there will now be a UK based store (&one for Canada also) which will be open in time for pre-ordering the box set tomorrow.
I was already quite familiar with the song through various bootlegs from the TFA tour, but never really absorbed the lyrics for some reason. It's funny how a song like this is still current after almost 50 years. Why walk a round a sinner, with a nail through your hand? I think me might have a great lost album on our hands with all the late 1972 outtakes.
Thank you Thrasher, so tomorrow’s the big day. I’m hopeful that the price won’t be too prohibitive, but after eleven years, at this point I just don’t care.
And yes; lyrically this old song is predictably timely at this particular moment. Neil certainly has a gift in that regard.
As for the bootleg trade, I have ( for the most part) resisted purchasing them through the years. I only own three; two of which were shows I attended and the other is the Dorthy Pavilion show (which was a gift). I always felt that buying bootlegs was betraying the artist in some way, so I never got into it. I know I missed out on some great stuff though. But it looks like some of that great stuff is coming in November.

Not related to the Archives and I'm a few days late on this one, but from Willie and Sons to John....
I acquired my bootlegs through peer to peer networks, where people shared them free of charge, the more recent ones being shared by the very people that recorded them. In the beginning I burned them to disc, but later I started streaming them, alas my hard drive crashed so I lost a few hundred GB of shows. Such is life.
I wonder though, why was Lookout Joe omitted from vol. 2? Recorded during the same season as Come Along and Say You Will. Probably the same train why Out on the Weekend wasn't included in any form in vol. 1...
Waiting is to pull the trigger on the Archives II. Didn't "Come and say you will" wet the appetite even more. thx Trasher long time fan Zejt

I do think Everybody's Alone (V2D1) could have been a stronger set with the addition of Lookout Joe. Since you asked, though, I will speculate. It's possible that Neil felt that the Tuscaloosa version of Lookout Joe was more the definitive version. That's one guess. Another possible guess is that Neil didn't think that Lookout Joe really captured the feeling of the time. Thirdly, maybe there is a deliberate aim to eliminate one track from each album from the Archives set. I am happy that a chronological play is possible on NYA.
