Some thoughts on the Paris concert of Neil Young & Crazy Horse on June 6 -- our 4th and final show for the Thrasher's Wheat Radio crew.
From our roadtrip partners Eric & Tony @ Wbkm Dot Org:
The Last Show for the Thrasher's Wheat Radio Hour Goes to Europe Tour 2013!More on Wbkm Dot Org.
2nd day in Paris, France......close to 90 degrees.....love, love, love in the air today. The heat adds a fantastic dimension to the experience here. So exciting to see the fashions.....feel the desire.....and immerse myself in the very heart of this beautiful city. Again noticable everywhere....in the architecture, the clothing, even in the food- how Europeans bolster the arts....being polite is of up most importance always when visiting someone else's home....and maybe here moreso....as there seems to be a general lack of enthusiasm or patience for the typical American.......much quicker pace here than in any city we've visited yet....
Real happy to report that Neil Young and Crazy Horse brought the heat last night. Coming off -what felt to be an absolute nuthouse gig at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam- it was great to see the boys riding wild fire all over again here in France....Great crowd....arms waving and packed.

wanted to thank CSNYGuy for the warm up shows in Pillar Point Harbor. Old Princeton Landing, what a friggin dive. But a great setlist 1996. Just before I moved to Montara. Great stuff. and Roots ? where are you ?
Awesome show. Being within the floor audience, and even better on the rail, was a total bliss.
I also joined my first Rust Fest after the show, where I met friends I 'knew' via FB or the RustList, plus Thrasher himself!
Lifetime memories...

Way to slam Americans with your self-loathing comment there Eric & Tony..."typical American" huh?
I'm sorry but please elaborate on that...
I realize Thrasher will not post this because it dares to challenge his pre-conceived view of the world, but I'll gently remind Eric & Tony that Neil wouldn't be playing in France if not for the "typical Americans" who bravely began saving freeing their behinds from Hitler 69 years ago to the day that the Horse played Paris.
Yes it was a passing comment but it speaks volumes...and the volume is sad...
When we all comment about how remarkable ole Neil is, the 69 year anniversary of the D day landings remind us of all the remarkable men who saved the world from the Nazis. I love Neil's music but let's keep it in perspective.
Hey....self loathing I think not...love the principles on which my country was founded on...courage to stand up plenty of times along the way...yet, the States have been consumed by the corporate monster...wonderful to see and feel cultures not completely shakin outta their own skin by the computer and a hungry corporate beast. Just drive I95 through Jersey, Maryland, Philadelphia, Richmond and such....rusty trash...abandoned buildings.....crap everywhere. This is not what we fought for brother....we simply don't even have the time to pick up after ourselves....disrespectful in every way to mother Earth....this to me is the greater sin as it influences everyone/ everything else. Now I realize no place is lilly white....Heck Amsterdam has deep roots in African slavery back in the day....incense wars...no place is clean....but as far as quality living....much deeper than any fuckin' wal mart, subway, mcdonalds, driven culture here. Europe they leave big spaces for people to gather....and play.....here we get a friggin' new bank and security cop.
Hey Mr. Clean.....your dirty now too! Eric

If "typical americans" didn't help Hitler in his rise to power, France would have never needed their behinds freed. lol
I'd like to gently remind Anonymous that the French bravely saved America's ass during our Revolution. Without French aid and their blockade, we would have remained a British colony for perhaps a hundred years.
And the arrogance of "typical Americans" might be more tempered, which I suggest would be a good thing.
Is not the subject of this post supposed to be 'thoughts on Paris concert'...?
