No big amp set because outdoor venue.

Just up a set of stairs that would make an aerobics instructor on any stair master real proud……. Stairs that took us deep into the heart of our 2nd day in Berlin and first evening with Neil Young and Crazy Horse in Europe. We charged into this rather overcast day as if we ourselves had been plugged into the 220 grid - without the converter!

Los Lobos
Los Lobos opened…..and answered. Rather bizarre space to hear a band from East Los Angeles ripping Mexican based classics here in Germany. Refreshing as this is the Alchemy tour….the coming together….the glue……so we’re real glad to report – as David Hidalgo (Los Lobos) sang so beautifully, that yes indeed the wolf has survived! Absolutely jubilant!

In fact the day stayed with a haze of gray so deep into the evening that Neil himself commented during the show: “Does it ever get dark here…” It mirrored the feeling that we couldn’t turn off - that glow we felt on the inside….in our very soul…. The hope and joy of hearing those first notes of “Love and Only Love” from “Ragged Glory” so grounding and affirming….3500 miles from home but the message consistent….the spirit among the people - identical. Here, just next to the Olympic stadium track where Jesse Owens so proudly ran his best past the Reich, the message of East and West, from Berlin to Istanbul and beyond was clear: ROCK AND ROLL EQUALS FREEDOM!
"Walk Like A Giant"
"Heart Of Gold"
Well we’re off…..blown away……and this is what I’ve gleaned….. that it’s our daily job at WBKM…..our job being the entrusted as hosts of the Thrashers Wheat Radio Hour is to create that somewhere….that special someplace safer that Neil sings about in his beautiful encore on this very night in Berlin – where the feeling stays! This is family…..In RUST we TRUST!

BRING ON THE HORSE!!!
Blowin' in the wind. Acoustic & solo. Pure magic. For the rest: same awesome artist as earlier in the your, hurricane with ultra-feedback for encore. A perfect night in Berlin!!!
Forgot to mention: psychedelic pill back in, born in Ontario out.
Twisted Road gone, too
Traveled from the UK to see this opening night. Blew us away. Shame about the odd prick who does not understand you should not scream comments to friends during the acoustic set but hey Neil rules. Great venue.
What a great start to the European tour! Thanks, guys, for representing Sandy and me (The Arkansas Girls)!
Tami C. (SandCowgirl)
Thanks, Thrasher!

Within 2 days will see the old man in Amsterdam, can't wait.....
Thanks for the report! Did Neil forget his gigantic amps or do they only use those props indoors? In Europe we never had the chance to see those things... Anyway wednesday Amsterdam and Saturday Brussels.... Love and only love!
A big thank you to TW....wonderful pictures....how good is it to see our RUSTIE brothers and sisters in the photos, wooohoooo!
Lukas Nelson : "Me and Neil at Farm aid! We co wrote a song together calls "Song She's Living", that he plays live sometimes! Go see him live to ear it!!" [facebook.com - May 31]
So, shouldn't we change
"Singer Without A Song"
by
"Song She's Living" ?
Neil's setlists say "Singer Without a Song." When Lukas plays it, he can call it what he wants.
Updated with new information,

What a magnificent version of LAH :soulfull, heartfelt rendition. Once again re-inventing his own song.
Thrasher! Eric! Tony! Howell! Thanks for bringing it home!!

Great show! The setlist was varied and the band was in a good mood. So glad that I finally got to see the horse live!
Two questions that arised:
1. What the hell was the deal with the woman who walked around on the stage? Just another of Neil's little ideas?
2. Where was Larry Craig? Does Neil have a new Guitar Technician?

Thanks TW, it was good to see you on the *other side* of the pond... hangin' and jammin'... peace and love and only love from Berlin through Paris!
What a night! I was stunned and thrilled by Neil's and Crazy Horse's power that blew away the audience on a rather cold evening. Nevertheless we loved that show - can't we be sure that Neil will come back after that summer?
Looking forward to the Dresden concert in August and I hope the weather will be better and the venue won't be flooded like last week!!!!
Keep on rockin' in a fee world
