And speaking of Buffalo Springfield, over on Sonic Pollutions, a review of the Buffalo Springfield at Monterey. The Buffalo Springfield did not appear in the original "Monterey Pop" film by D.A. Pennebaker. But the footage is available on the newly released DVD. From Sonic Pollutions:

"In spite of their short career, Buffalo Springfield were much loved and retain quite a following today. Undeniably the fact that it featured Neil Young and Stephen Stills helped toward the legend of the band. The music stands up extremely well as being a melange of melodic folk rock, psychedelia and country.

They were introduced by Peter Tork of The Monkees, an old mate of Stephen Stills... legend has it that Stills auditioned for The Monkees but his thinning hair and bad teeth made certain he didn't get the gig... Bryan MacLean of Love definitely auditioned and thankfully failed the audition and it is still being debated whether Charles Manson really auditioned or not!"
