As  the first exclusive announcement in a planned series of Neil Young related items, the Prairie Wind Poster Collection contains:

THIS WEEKEND: Neil Young Solo Concert - London 2008 | Hearse Theater | NYA

This weekend, Neil Young solo in concert at Hammersmith Odeon Theater (aka the Carling Apollo), London in 2008 will be showing in the Hearse Theater on NYA. (See full Hearse Theater Schedule.)

The concert film is directed by Tim Pope and the acoustic set premiered in September 2019. Recorded during the final 2 nights (of a 6 gig run) in London, England, in March 2008, the multi-camera film is stunningly intimate and features the "mic cam" for ultra close-ups. (see here for reviews of March 5 & 6, 2008 and March 8 & 9, 2008, March 14 & 15, 2008)

Presumably, the Saturday film focuses on the acoustic portion of set and the Sunday film focuses on the electric portion of the set. Both the acoustic and the electric sets are being presented entirely in the 2 hour and 25 minute concert film now streaming.

Bentley writes that: "Neil Young is a born filmmaker. The same sounds he hears in his head he sees with his eyes. He wants to share with those who want to join his journey." Here is the poster for the film PARADOX directed by Daryl Hannah with Neil Young + Promise Of The Real and Willie Nelson.

Netflix.com will stream the film globally on 23 March, the same day as the release of the movie's soundtrack.

In a statement, Hannah said,

"Paradox sprung up spontaneously and unexpectedly, like a peculiar dandelion, popping up between the cracks in the pavement. We were fortunate to find this brief window of opportunity to share the love for the natural world, each other and for the precious seeds of creativity and life. It's hand numbered #109/200 edition and signed by Neil Young , Russ Tamblyn and Dean Stockwell at the bottom
border, dated 3/19/1980. This poster appears to be an early version/promo that came out before the often seen movie poster.

What Would Neil Young Do?

“What would Neil Young do?” has that well-meaning, all-purpose flexibility that straplines like “think different” have. Its tone is a mix of the cheeky and the high-minded, serious but also a little wry.

I laughed when I first saw the poster because I recalled Neil Young telling his biographer James Mcdonough that when he was young he used to ask himself “…what would Bob Dylan do?…”

Ansel’s take was that Jeremy Deller was playing with the common US bumper sticker ‘What would Jesus do?”

I prefer to think that Deller is a Neil fan, has read the Bob Dylan story, has heard Neil’s trenchant ‘Living With War’ album and has conflated all the above with the Jesus bumper sticker thing.

After six hours of wandering around the Art Fair on the way home on a packed Underground train, an empty seat appeared.

I gestured to a woman with a handful of bags standing up beside it to sit down. She shook her head. I gestured again, she said “no thanks” so I sat down, wondering whether I should really have insisted, whether she was just being polite, and I’m sure it sounds daft, but in my self-conscious embarrassment I couldn’t help thinking, “What Would Neil Young Do?”

UPDATE: "What would Neil Young do?" is the punch line of an anecdote in the Canadian musician’s authorized biography, Shakey (2003).

Faced with any tricky business decision — whether to do a commercial or a TV show, say — Young and his manager Elliot Roberts would always ask themselves: "What would Bob Dylan do?" There comes a day, though, when the torch of cantankerous rock-star integrity must pass. 

Says Manager Elliot Roberts : "Years later I’m managing Bob Dylan, and some decision came up, he turns to me and says "What would Neil Young do?"
