Neil Young: "ICE cold here in America"

"While looking out the window, I see the biggest mess I've ever witnessed, right here in the United States, this great country I have believed in for decades. It's right here. Right now.
Wake up people! Today The USA is a disaster. Donald Trump is destroying America bit by bit with his staff of wannabes, people with no experience or talent, closet alcoholic wife beaters, inexperienced leaders who only know how to lie to keep favor with the Trump falseness so they can hold their unearned positions in his inept government, a Congress full of Republicans acting like idiots with no conscience… Yes. He has divided us. How did we elect these creeps who have no spine, no values, no conscience, no way to save the USA.
We need to take Trump at his word. Make America Great Again. It won’t be easy while he is trying to turn our cites into battlegrounds so he can cancel our elections with marshal law and escape all accountability.
Something has to change this. We know what to do. Rise up. Peacefully in millions. Too many innocent people are dying.
It’s ICE cold here in America. There was no ICE before Trump. No soldiers in the streets before Trump. Every move he makes is to build instability so he can stay in power.
He knows nothing about love. He does not know who you are. Use your love of life, your love of one another, your love of children, yours and theirs and ours. Peacefully. Now."

Looks like we are guaranteed another lame plug in and play protest record from Neil this year
Looks like we are guaranteed another series of lame comments to be plugged in whenever during this year Neil Young decides to go on record with his protest.
For this year one can expect the release of "Mirror Ball Live" (supposedly a double album), another album covering the recent "Love Earth World Tour" supposedly also a double album. It's not unlikely that the ORS Box Set series will be continued with vinyl albums which are increasingly hard to find at reasonable prices. The other day Neil Young mentioned to be working on a vinly release of the late Ben Keith's Seven Gates / Christmas at the Ranch (supposedly an effort to rectify, at least posthumously, the neglect with which this recording was treated). Most of the songs of his most recent album "Talking to the Trees" did not have any live exposure, but maybe this upcoming tour in Europe will see for that.
As for now:
"nothin' was still, all was movin'
then the cameras found the gun
an ICE man pulled the trigger
in a split second tragic blunder"
Meanwhile instead of babbling in this here direction
Americans could take some time to clean up their act.
We are and we will. Nazi Nero is out. We have “had it up to here” with the Idiot King. His cruelty will not be checked until millions are in the streets. I am so glad that I care, because otherwise one could be considered a sociopath.
Like Trump himself. The vain spoiled child cannot ever become satisfied because he has never earned anything in his entire life except 34 felonies & rape charged, paid off with cash.
The US will never be the same, & we will never submit to this unjust clampdown. Trump is the one who has brought all of this on. Now the good people are going to show him how we throw out kings. We are gonna send him straight to Hell, which is conveniently very near. Join us or be an obstacle. Your choice.
Get offa that couch! Turn off that MTV.
We got a king to lose & he’s been troubling me. To Hell with DT. FDT

@ Brother Alan - your passion indefatigable. thanks for sending the image for this post.
please be careful out there during the "Winter of Love".
@ Dionys - again thanks for being here with us in 2026. Regular folks are dropping off. We haven't seen Dan or other TW regulars for a long while. We know we have disappointed many by our attempts at impartiality and trying to walk the line.
Many feel this is wrong to stay centered. It has worked for us for the most part as we have swerved from ditch to ditch. To be clear, just because we do post on a subject or not, does not necessarily mean that we support or reject a particular cause, etc.
Lastly, thanks for the 2026 preview. We'll work on developing that as a future post.
All the best in 26.
peace
Yeah, I see where you are headed mit impartiality, staying centered and all, but as it is with these metaphors nowadays: "you can't have a cupboard, if there ain't no wall" transforms into "you can't stay centered, if there ain't a middle ground". When these shots hit that good woman in Minneapolis they reduced the few feet of ground that were still left to nada.
"It's okay dude, I'm not mad at you."

Unfortunately the reason we ended up with Trump is because they offered us Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz. The DNC needs to be real careful who they put forth in the primaries.
If somebody in all seriousness believes that Harris and Waltz would have committed the crimes of the current government, threatened allies with military action, breaking international law, organize state terrorism and shitting on the American people, now that intellectually desperate somebody truly deserves the present racket posing as government.
This comment has been removed by the author.
And that's not to say, that these democrat candidates were a dream team that could do no wrong.
I’m Almost as tired of hearing that b/s argument of a Harris/Walz ticket as I am of still blaming Biden. A Year into this fukn nightmare of THE WORST PRESIDENT AND ADMIN OF MY LIFETIME!
Wrong! Even MAGots are gonna be done with this tool soon. And the DNC can roll out the usual dim bulbs to light the way…
Please note that the top photo of this post has been updated with an image of Our Brother Alan in Seattle wearing a Take America Back t-shirt.
As we have said to Alan publicly and privately, his passion is indefatigable.
And we've urged him to be very careful. We can report that Alan has returned safely after a weekend of activism on the streets .
Last year, we questioned the waving of signs as an effective tactic against TPTB. This is a hotly debated topic of which tactic is more effective: direct action/protest vs fundamental personal behavior change.
At the rate of acceleration of the Big Shift, it looks like we may actually find out during in our lifetime on this EARTH.
peace
I was at the protest yesterday in LA. My sense, which may or may not be based in any real objective reality, is that there is increasing anger and fear among those demonstrating. Understandably, and yet simultaneously, unnerving.
To the debate over direct action/protest vs personal change (inner work?), I'm very much a Both/And. If you want to approach the direct action without anger and fear (to harness the power of "love and only love", if you will), making fundamental changes in the way you interact with your community and your environment seems essential. And if you want the fundamental changes you're working towards on a personal level to have systemic impact, you have to take action. That doesn't mean you have to be in the streets protesting (though I would argue that is important and effective), but it does mean working towards persuading others of how we can live peacefully in community with one another and the environment.
I was listening to M. Gessen and Ezra Klein discussing the week's events, both domestic and foreign. Gessen is an astute observer of how societies slide into autocracy, having been raised in the Soviet Union and then later fleeing Russia under Putin. I highly recommend the whole episode (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/10/opinion/ezra-klein-podcast-m-gessen.html) , but in a relevant passage to this discussion Gessen, says:
"So the stage has been set for this execution for nearly a year. It’s almost surprising that this didn’t happen earlier, but now that it has happened, what happens as autocracy establishes itself is that the space available for action shrinks very rapidly.
I talk about this a lot when I do public speaking and people ask me: What should we do? And I say: Well, do something. Because whatever you can do today, you’re not going to be able to do tomorrow. So act where you can act."
This echoes, of course, Dionys point.
Thank you for posting the pic, Thrasher. I have strong principles about civil rights, etc. We are in a whole new chapter. Like Dionys said, the middle of the road is gone!
The DNC got Trump elected the 1st time in 2015. By screwing the popular Bernie & handing the primary to HRC, they handed the election to Trump.
The DNC works for the 1% like the RNC. But lately the Republicans have been able to show contrast between the 2 parties. Both pro genocide, under Biden & Trump.
But the Right has now inspired everyone to hate them. By lying so fast about the “terrorist “ BS & doubling down on it, they have forced our hand. We can no longer wait to act. The hour is getting late.
Trump is a monster. I don’t hear any of our old Republican friends defending his actions.
The people will save our country despite the cowardice of the Republican Legislature.
After we force Freedom on the US we will demand health care for all. There is an issue the Dems should embrace. They have passed up the chance before. Mamdani is hope for better from the DNC!
It’s now time to protest every day, it seems! 1/20 walkout? If you can?
Neil Young’s setlist on tour was inspirational. Hey Mr Clean. You’re Dirty Now Too!
My own morality inspires action in areas civil rights, which we hold dear as Americans.
Trump pushed it too far. This is the final chapter.
People by the millions will steer democracy, with direct participation.
Also note to self: build a garden!
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
If I may risk a comment as a European who loves the good AND the bad sides of 'merica.
All my life I've heard terrifying accusations of authoritarianism, fascism and all-around pure evilness thrown at Republican presidents. And yet every one of their presidencies ended with no significant violence, democracy intact, and a new shiny Democrat president doing nothing meaningful for the next 4-8 years but pampering to his billionnaire donours.
Also, the current figurehead for whatever coalition of lobbies happens to be ruling DC right now, WWE hall-of-famer Mr Trump, while certainly not someone I would have voted for, is the only President in my lifetime who hasn't yet started a foreign war. For that reason only he stands orange head and shoulders above Reagan, Obama and al.
Peace to you all.
Well you get a pass for your opening line. While he may not have started any wars he is definitely fanning many fires of war, internally and externally, while simultaneously falsely claiming to have ended many wars. Unfortunately, like everything thing else, those “accomplishments” exist only in his small, distorted mind. It is horrible that Any citizens of Any nation are executed in plain sight, and “Dear Leader” sees it differently. My eyes don’t lie to me. Those who were blind may now see…
Another one, who did not pay attention.
The doings of the present gang in the WH sending an hitherto unseen fleet to the Caribbean killing boat crews without even knowing who they are, sending special forces to kidnap the head of a foreign government (no matter whether this is another crook), those are not acts of war? Bombarding Iran is a symbolic act? Maybe you wanna call all of this "special operations"? Are those your friends having fun illuminating the Ukrainian sky?
In my youth in Germany the eternal yesterdayers always said "that at least Hitler built the Autobahns and was a vegetarian". Speak about whataboutism.
Not whataboutism here, bro. More like whatthefukism. As in what the fuk next? The bad news beat.
I agree. If yer not paying attention you will surely pay in other ways.
As another European could not disagree with VIP more. Trump is an evil fascist determined to enrich himself, his family and cronies at the expense of the American people. He has subverted the legal system, is a convicted felon, pardons his chums, and uses threatened lawsuits as a way of bringing his opponents into line.
What is particularly saddening is the lack of strong opposition from the Democrats or Republicans who have no moral fibre at all. They are all scared of the consequences of standing up to this bully. Even the European governments tread softly in case they upset him.
Given Trump's age and health issues one can only hope that he will depart this life sooner rather than later. That will be a day of rejoicing. But then you have JD and all the other Trump wannabees.
Let us fervently hope that the mid term elections correct the dreadful situation that your otherwise great country is currently in.
Let's impeach the President for lying.

I've been attending local protests in CT and Maui almost weekly for the past 11 months. The resistance is growing, but not fast enough. Most of us are bone tired from trying to get our representatives to act. But we'll keep doing it.
I am with you 100%. Thanks.
My impression is that the resistance by now is way too much focussed on quantity instead of quality. The horrible incident in Minneapolis resulting in the murder of Renee N. Good teaches several lessons. 1. The state terrorists can handle large groups of protesters (after all what did they invent pepper spray and tear gas for, if not crowd control?). 2. What they cannot control is many smaller groups of determined and tenacious people confronting them individually. 3. As it sadly turned out, confronting these windegos in a non-violent way (!) as suggested in #2 is coming with an extremely high personal risk when these death squadrons are "on duty".
4. But they are not on duty all the time and in all places of their shabby and desperate existence. They have to eat, sleep, buy groceries, drive their car, take care of their families (if they have one and know what that means), they need to see doctors and pharmacies, somewhere they have to relax. Oh, and don't forget, behind their masks they have an identity.
There is / was a mobile phone short video on NYA with a statement of a legitimate law person in Philadelphia. She threatened to arrest any masked state terrorists making their way into her city. While that might be a rather steep announcement it points in the right direction, I think.
@VIP In addition to the "kinetic" (Orwellian speech for killing people) strikes mentioned by Dionys, let us not forget the war on the planet. By propping up coal and other fossil fuels while simultaneously attempting to undercut renewable energy sources, this administration is killing the planet, irrespective of borders. The greatest crime the Biden administration committed was its failure to adequately champion and institutionalize the great strides it made in getting the US on course with helping to solve the climate crisis, all of which is now being dismantled by the short-sighted robber barons now in charge. The damage will unfold more slowly than that from dropping bombs, but rest assured it will be more all encompassing in the aggregate and it will include all of us.
Woooo hooooooo! Got my ticket to Particle Kid, thank you very much, wsanjose!
We heard it here first! Particle Kid, aka, Micah Nelson.
The last show 2 years ago was spectacular! Micah is not interested in fame. He is a humble & talented artist. You all ought to go see him play!
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
Agreed. That is why he must go.
We have reached the end of anything even resembling a rational discourse. Think about how JD Vance and that incredibly evil moron Kristi Noem "interpreted" the episode in Minneapolis: both interpretations have no relation to objective reality but they have swallowed hook, line, and sinker by the same ignorant ridiculous fools who made it possible for these nihilists to gain power.
But in my neck of the woods? Who cares? I have a Ford 150 and I can watch football, stream on Netflix, everything is ok! No worries about the very mist basic ideas and mechanisms that hold a democracy in place. But wait! America is not a democracy! It is not "majority rule" but is instead a "republic." Holy shit are we paying for all this egregious ignorance. America is most likely dead.
Hard to id the evil doers/Proud Boys of ICE when they’re masked in action & unmasked in gen pop. Assimilating.
Impeaching lawlessness is useless. As further proof the Smithsonian just removed ALL REFERENCES TO DJT 45 Two Impeachments.

The “Idea” of America & Democracy may be dying. Not. Dead. Yet.
In case anyone was wondering, I had a great weekend here, enjoying my life peacefully in the greatest country in the world. Beautiful weather here in the Bay Area after a long stretch of essential rain.
Saturday, I worked. The store was full of locals enjoying a beautiful day, everyone seemed pretty happy to me. Hung out with some family and friends after and all day on Sunday. Watched a ton of exciting playoff football. My team lost, but still a lot of good action watching the best sport in the best country. Really, a wonderful weekend all around....
Except, of course, for finding out about Bob Weir passing on to the next stage. Kind of unexpected, and really sad to know that the 'front line' of the Grateful Dead is now gone forever. I was hoping to hear something about that here, but I forget that we don't talk about actual music here on this sight anymore.
I saw some highlights from the Golden Globes show. Pretty brave for the Hollywood stars to rail on about ICE agents, as security guards who are dressed like ICE agents guard the building. Apparently the beautiful people are encouraging folks like our brave Alan to show up at protests and potentially get their brains blown away, but don't try to get into the awards show, right? That's for the important people, only.
Anyhow, somebody mentioned something about wanting to hear from a Trump supporter, so there you go!
Have a pleasant day and RIP Bobby.
Actually, the passing of Bob Weir was mentioned in a different thread, but whatevs.
As you enjoy the lovely Santa Cruz region, maybe a little Martin Niemoeller poem will inspire some humility (something in very short supply these days):
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
Actually, I've looked through the last five threads and I haven't seen any mention of Bob Weir, but whatever. Reality isn't really the strong suit of you folks.
Nice poem, though.
@ Everyone, thanks for being here at this critical time in a new year as Americans celebrate our 250th anniversary.
Whether we're commenting back directly or not, please don't assume anything.
We’re trying to be as absolute on freedom of speech and 1st Amendment rights as possible.
@ Richie - As always, we accept counter narratives unlike most open forums.
Regarding Bob Weir. Our approach has always been if there's a direct Neil connection, we'll run an obituary. Are we missing anything?
We can only think of the Bill Graham tribute.
If someone wants to submit something, be our guest.
Otherwise, our hands are full working to avert The Winter of Love.

I didn't mean to apply that I expected a thread about Bob Weir here, I just thought maybe someone would have mentioned it before me. The Grateful Dead are talked about here at different times by different folks.
I do have to say that someone did post an RIP Ratdog comment. A bit strange bringing up one of Bobby's lesser bands as a tribute, but it was something. That would be like if Neil passed away and someone came on here and typed RIP Shocking Pinks.
The Ratdog comment was indeed what I was referring to.
The real accelerant for the real Big Shift.

Ahhhhhh, yes, Trios, of course. Forgot about. Thanks. Have it also. Just need to see if requisite photo of Bob and Neil exists?
Any clue?
FYI, we had planned to observe the passing of the dear Judy Greenberg until Neil jumped into fray.
Again, at this time, we seek the balanced perspective.
We realize emotions are running hot for those who can not see how the kaleidoscope operates.
Calmness brings clarity.
This isn't directed towards anyone here, but there are those out there that need to throw their hatred down.
Actually, Richie Rich, it was I who posted RIP RATDOG. But it doesn’t surprise me you missed it as you seem to miss a lot.
That tends to happen in the alternate reality TV TRumpverse. Kinda like I missed anyone asking for a T Rump supporters pov?
Nice try tho. Keep the dream alive bro.

No shame. No one needs to know…
Really? To you maybe. Here’s my deal. I saw The Dead reunion tour. Snooze fest. I saw RATDOG & it was a completely different show, vibe. Way more joyous. It was in a smaller venue, so there’s that. But still. Left a way more positive impression on me, so that’s where I was coming from. Nice side shot @ Shocking Pinks, btw. I also enjoyed that iteration of Neil. Sue me
@Thrasher: apologies fer not observing the unwritten codes ‘round here. Specifically my mentions of Judy (superfan. Was surprised @ non mention here, earlier) & Ratdog. Sorry, Bob Weir. The photos yer looking for are on reddit.

Peace.
Thanks herbsworld. Suppose we have all sorts of unwritten codes, but not sure what you're suggesting?
Yes, thanks for mentioning Judy, but don't get where you're coming from?
If there's a shot of Neil and Bob, can someone please share?
Well, I saw the GRATEFUL DEAD, and they were better than any of that other stuff. But glad you liked Ratdog. I'm not surprised.
And I like the Shocking Pinks too. Take a breath and relax.
BTW here are some lyrics by Neil Young related to Greendale or maybe Santa Cruz?

Lyrics by Bob Weir (among other Dead Members) to be found on "Trios" (guitar and vocals contribution: Bob Weir & Neil Young)
"Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you"
Lyrics by Neil Young
"Might be going to Hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoying the ride."
Music by Bob Weir, Lyrics by John Barlow
Bob Weir didn't write many lyrics, Josef. I wouldn't expect a German to know everything about the greatest American band, just letting you know.
Interesting little tidbit I've learned recently. I saw a chart of countries who have arrested their own citizens over online comments. The UK is far and away the ruler of this category with over 12,000 arrests, followed by Belarus with over 5000, then Germany with over 3500. Far more than even China with over 1500.
The United States? The country with the "GREATEST DICTATOR OF MODERN TIMES"??? About 50.
Looking at this thread, you would think the USA would be in the millions of it's own people being arrested for online attacks on the Orange Man and his followers, yet the number is miniscule compared to England and Germany.
Maybe some of the folks from those places who post here whining about this country should maybe focus on their own governments?
The only war that is good for something is the war on drugs, and by that I mean the band The War On Drugs ;).
As an 80s child, their take on Springsteen and Nth period-Dylan captured my heart like rarely before. I have not been moved like this by songs in years, maybe not since I listened to 'Weld' on that one long night drive in the mountains. Go check their cover of "Like A Hurricane" and then their latest live album, I promise you'll forget the bleakness for a while.
What a load of nonsensical whataboutism: The sacred US cow of free speech isn't worth the dirt under anyone's fingernails when standing opposite a masked government thug. Neither in the UK nor in Germany people are arrested for online attacks for nothing. That's a typical fabrication of interested parties in the US. Who brought up this numbers? Show the sources. And while we are at it: Calling me a nazi in Germany would bring that someone before a court for good reasons, if I wanted it that way. Depending on the person's income as a first offender that cost him a couple of grand in Euro. Offending me in my official state capacity would cost some more. Wanna try, come on over to where the government and the judicial system of a working democracy hold up our laws as opposed to that near dysfunctional Federal US government.
On "Trios" the only Grateful Dead member who made a contribution was Bob Weir. Maybe Robert Hunter or Jerry Garcia wrote the lyrics, but in the context of this collaboration with Rob Wasserman and Neil Young that was his song and he sang and played it.
While the Dead originated in California it's quite ridiculous to claim some superiority of knowledge regarding this chameleon rock band as if Pigpen had been a close cousin, living next door in California. There was a Deadhead farm and many other related communities in West Germany, too. And they were just as far out as their original American counterparts.
As a furthur character invented by the Deads original entourage once wrote: "Never give an inch"
Footnote:
The aforementioned statistic is pure fantasy made up by someone who sent it around on many social media platforms three months ago, a fake news item which now makes the rounds, also on this blog. There is neither a German statistic on the number of arrests nor even court cases as a consequence of making hate speech directed at another person publicly available. If there were a Chinese statistic on this issue nobody in his right mind would touch it with a ten foot pole, because Chinese statistics have a known quality, since they are published in a country that never had an independent media. All numbers about China are government numbers. There are many more representations of this garbage, none of them indicates from where they have their numbers. Those numbers are not set in relation to population numbers either. If there were 5000 cases in totalitarian Belarus (pop. 9.1 million) and an alleged number of 1200 cases in Germany (pop. 83.5 million) what does that tell you? And how does this relate to a goverment currently going after a highly decorated and retired member of the armed forces, an astronaut and present member of Congress who stated in a video what is a self-evident principle of armed forces in democratic countries?
See for yourself for example at: https://x.com/stats_feed/status/1969227010510897541?lang=de
It's this kind of shit flooding that ruins the discourse.
I cannot participate in this any longer. The United States is in grave danger of becoming a failed state.

Sounds like I hit a nerve there, comrade. And if I read you correctly, I may be arrested for posting this in your country, or at least you'd be pushing for that to happen. Which kind of proves my point.
And officially, the song Easy Answers has lyrics by Robert Hunter and Bob Weir, so I was partially wrong, which I can manage to admit when it happens. But who cares, the song is considered one of the worst in Grateful Dead history.
Man, Ratdog and Easy Answers.... you guys do realize that Bobby did better stuff than that, right?

Do you care at all that ICE is murdering citizens on a whim, for no reason? You may be of the pathological variety, it occurs to me.
Bob Weir fan and a Trump fan? That goes together like tangerines & peanut butter. Did you ever go see them play live?
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
Right on.
Richie, you really like Bob Weir & the Dead, & Trump? Why are you always Throwin’ Stones ? Trump is a pedophile, I hear, & a real prick. Wait, maybe I do see a connection.
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
You old regulars on TW who hate hearing by Hate Speech: Don’t leave TW! We need you now more than ever. In community we have positive energy, and a feeding of the soul. Richie just has some words he likes to offer to get under your skin. Don’t let that guy make life here on TW stinky. We are above that. Speak your peace, be patient, even kind.
But we know there are millions of people who feel just like we do and we are going to squish the rotten orange. Mark my words. He is toast.
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
You ask people to "speak your peace, be patient, even kind" immediately after a post where you call me a prick, and perhaps even a pedophile.
How do you explain your obvious hypocrisy?
Your King is Pedophile, apparently. I didn’t say that about you. You must have mistaken me for Dan. I think you are an idiot for still going along with your love of this moron of a Hitler wannabe.
How many videos did you watch of Renee Good getting executed? Just 1?
Any law abiding police officer can easily see it was murder. An execution. And you think this is funny or that it doesn’t make you look like a monster?
Are you a fucking Nazi? Head injury history? Throw is a bone.
These untrained heavily armed morons are out there hurting citizens! Don’t you get that? And only in blue states? And cut funding to the blue states?
Blue states pay out way more than their fair share to support mass welfare in red states. That is a fact.
Richie Rich, the Trump loving hippie. You loved the Grateful Dead & you’re a Trumper? What kind of twisted psychology brought you to cheer on secret police? How many Grateful Desd shows did you go to?
Richie. Repent now. All will be forgiven. See the king for the idiot he is, the heartless cruelty makes him high in the running for Satan.
Dancing Bears in your Gun safe? What a good Deadhead you are, cheering on Fascim & all. I saw them 40 times with Jerry between 85 & 93. I even saw them play “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” at my last show. Had some good times.
Best rock band ever? I would choose Neil Young, & I did. Whatever band he is with is all right with me. Chrome Hearts import or old hero. He is calling out fascism, & we are all better off for it!
People need to realize it’s time to put millions in the streets.
Richie, You were the guy booing “Let’s Inpeach the president” at the LWW tour?
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
I was daydreaming about the protesters when I said those LJ es about patient and kind. More to the point, do not give ICE an excuse to attack because they don’t even need one!
My words might have been confusing, and I might have denied saying what I seemed to have said, but doesn’t your idiot king do that like every day?
While he is plotting ways to literally destroy the country. We are a pariah in the world, having cast aside our allies of 80 years.
Tourism is down. Nobody will come here for Good! Because of Good, being murdered for nothing in the street. She did not at all deserve any trouble for the psychotic closeted asshole that executed her. Richie, you’ve got blood in your hands.
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
“I was daydreaming about the protesters when I said those lines about patient and kind.”
Replying to myself for a special someone out there.
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
Let me be clear: Fuck Nazis!
Edited, apologies to the good people.
“Chrome Hearts uplift our old hero. He is calling out fascism, & we are all better off for it!”
Oh, ya, I meant the part about you being a prick
“You must have mistaken me for Dan…” about the positive statements, patience”
Little bit of daydreaming here & there. The hour is getting late.
Replying to clarify my intent, for an old friend.
“Throw us a bone.” Dad was an English professor.
Somebody calling me a nazi in Germany will be taken to court, if I, being the addressed person, want it that way, that person will not be arrested but will have to stand court procedures, not necessarily a full-blown trial. The person can get away with a fine. The fine would be going to a tax deductible organization dedicated to the support of social causes. Myself would not have any personal financial gain from the proceedings. What that offending person cannot do is hiding behind "free speech", that's for the court to decide, whether the offense is covered by that right. In this case it's simple: Calling me a nazi is not - period. Under EU and German coded law (laws passed by democratic majorities and not applied by appointed judges who happen to be convenient to the government) the platform providing the digital megaphone to the offender will be taken to task as well (Digital Services Act) and that's where this garbage comes from: The DSA provides for some effective protection of citizens against the business model of FAANGS to ever increase their outreach by ever increasing outrage through the hate speech they are publishing. Touting statistics of this kind is comparable to playing the useful idiot for an arsonist. (See, I do not call anyone an idiot or a political arsonist, I make a comparison, which is perfectly in line with the laws in this hemisphere...) All of that requires close reading and a minimum in language competence as instead of blaring out fake statistics, empty, false, and derogatory statements etc.
Whether "Easy Answers" is one of the worst Dead songs is arguable of course. But it appeared to be a fitting comment to the issue at hand: There is a not very fine line between the truth and and the oversimplified version of a truth, an easy answer, which is to be called a lie.
