RIP Steve Cropper. One of the artists who tore down racial barriers in music with Booker T & the MG’s.
That band became Neil’s band in 1993 and they played Dock of the Bay, Neil on vocal, a stellar song written by Steve Cropper. Made famous by Otis Redding of course.
When they played Southern Man in LA in ‘93 I got an icy chill up my spine. It was so powerful, spectacular, heavy!
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He rocked the world and made it a better place, like Neil Young.
He is rocking with Jimi, Otis, Stevie, BB, Petty, & all at the great gig in the sky. Every day it’s a new tour & all-star jams endlessly rocking.

Neil first performed with them as his band at Bobfest on an incredibly intense version of All Along the Watchtower.
Otis Gibbs is a treasure. If you ever get a chance to see him, do it.
Definitely a loss. Cropper was top class. Always solid guy in whatever band, lineup. He must've played with hundreds of the greats including Booker T & Neil. Glad we caught him on the road w/ Donald Duck Dunn too.

I've seen Neil, in many different incarnations, over 30 times. My favorite concert of his that I attended was Concord in 1993 with Booker T and the Mg's, one of the warmup gigs before the tour. They were great in Santa Cruz, but the Concord show was truly amazing. Cropper, Dunn, and those legends really kept Neil focused and tight.
The Blues Brothers, all those classic Motown songs. Steve Cropper was a part of some serious music history. RIP for sure.
