Neil Young's "Fireside Sessions" Resumes
Late last year, Neil Young announced that he planned to stream another "Fireside Session" concert during the Christmas season.
As 2024 ended, Neil Young posted a video of the song "Silver & Gold" that his wife Daryl Hannah recorded in front of their Colorado home fireplace. "Silver & Gold" was originally recorded during the 1985 sessions in Nashville and remained unreleased until 2000, when it appeared as a solo version on the album of the same name. The song had not been played since Farm Aid 2007.
In the 2nd "Fireside Sessions" installment, Neil Young pulls out "Pardon My Heart" for the first time in 50 years.
Neil plays the song before a crackling fire and a sleeping dog. "Pardon My Heart" was originally released on the album "Zuma" in 1975 and again in 2022 on the "Official Bootleg" series from New York's "The Bottom Line" club in 1974.

Somehow somebody has to make a start and post a comment to this first post of the year. So although this might be a bit off-topic here are my two cents on the up-coming Neil Young year:
"Some are building monuments
Others are jotting down notes
Ev’rybody’s in despair
Ev’ry girl and boy
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
Ev’rybody’s gonna jump for joy"
Since we write 2025 here’s a list of expectations:
* Talkin’ to the Trees (the new album)
* Oceanside Countryside (the vinyl version)
* Tennessee ( The Int’l Harvesters rediscovered 1985 tape)
* The next ORS set (with Mirrorball, Sleeps with Angels closing my vinyl gap)
also possible release candidates:
* Mirror Ball Live (in the early days of the current NYA there was a poll which one of the unreleased projects the fans most urgently would like to see released, remember?)
* Homefires
And then there will be a tour in Europe with likely a number of shows within the no-fly zone of this particular fan. It’s so huge it’s going to be bad (for my savings account).
Quietly, a new single has arrived. The proper Oceanside Countryside version of Field Of Opportunity landed on streaming services such as Apple Music on Friday. This is the mix with Neil’s original harmonies, before Nicolette added her voice to the track. It’s not on NYA yet, so a nice treat for the non-subscribers who are still waiting for the widely streaming NYA III set.
I saw a video of Neil playing Mirror Ball music in Europe? I need to find it. The reviewer said: "the best rock and roll in the world, right here, right now." These are big songs with big ideas. Many critics in the US did not, as usual, understand a damn thing. How can anyone be blind to the riveting brilliance of "I'm the Ocean," "Song X," and "Scenery"? Well, so it goes.
Thanks for the "informed speculation" Dionys!
That pretty well tracks what we're seeing as well. Obviously, all eyes on tour planning.
