Neil Young Concert Report: "I need one for Berkeley tonight. Anyone have an extra??"

A concert report from Neil Young Solo @ The Greek Theatre, Berkeley, CA – Saturday, July 15 by TW Tour Manager Hounds That Howell.

I need one for Berkley tonight. Anyone have an extra?? 

UPDATE Wendy is now an honorary Rustie. 

I was wanderin’ Berkeley campus after “swimming” (brought my goggles and cap forgot my suit just waded into my knees) and Sunning at pool looking for good spot to hail Uber.  

At an intersection by the football stadium I passed a Rusty old Volvo with a hippie chick at the wheel. She saw me looking at my phone Farm Aid bag on my shoulder asking “you lookin for Neil? I really want to see him but don’t have a ticket.” 

I said “I found him back in 1995. My names Howell and I’m one of Neil’s Rusties. I’m lookin for a ride to hotel so I can change for the show.  If you can give me a round trip ride I’ll get you a ticket, how’s that for a deal?”  

Long story short, in the best sense of channeling Berkeley Hippie 60’s vibe I hitched  a ride in this classic Rusty Volvo.  this cool Native American acupuncturist gave me a Lift to my hotel, waited for me outside while I changed, and drove me to back venue.  

We walked up Berkeley Hills to venue sharing personal history and stories including about her mom loving the Dead but not Neil we ran into our Besties the Italian Rusties on line. I bought her a ticket to the show at the box office, we bid each other a good show and then split to go find our attending friends. 

Hope you had a great first Neil show Sister Wendy.
