A Message From Neil Young To "Thrasher and grains"
Yet again, we interrupt our "unplanned/forced sabbatical" here at Thrasher's Wheat, with an update on Neil Young news.
From A Message From Neil Young | Subscriber News | NYA:
12-12-21Dear Thrasher and grains:
I really appreciate all you do, your support through the years, your comments on my music.
Re how long it takes to write a song, it only took a couple of quick minutes to write ‘After The Gold Rush’. It’s not about time. It took 3 months to write ‘Don’t Forget Love’. Whatever you are doing with your new or old life, keep pouring yourself into it.
And thank you for being there.
neil
Most humbly, we also say, thank you Neil.
And -- once again -- stunned and speechless here.
If wasn't for all of the love and support during our own challenging times here @ TW, we're not sure we'd make it thru the days.
It is most touching and most gratifying to have these notes and acknowledgements from Neil over the decades. (See here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.)

What a wonderful Honor and all around shot in the arm for the Thrasher's Wheat Blog! Neil Young likes TW! He reads it.
What tone would you take if you were speaking in the presence of your favorite Music Artist or a roomful of his fans?
What compliment or insult would you give? Would you value or undervalue his latest album, or this decade, or that decade?
Neil can see how we treat each other. Let's not squander the moment. Nobody's perfect but we can all be decent, right?
Neil doesn't need to make more albums. What if your words would convince him to continue or quit?
Still grainin' still Alan in Seattle

Proud to be among the grains and happy that Thrasher reaped us all!
@ Alan - as you suggest, "let's not squander the moment. Nobody's perfect but we can all be decent, right?"
for a very long time, it has been known that neil's folks keep an eye on the rust list and TW.
and folks may recall some of the pushback when some became not just overly critical but downright cruel.
the point: you say it, you own it.
and generally, here, that has been the case. not that we're looking for apologies, but we have seen recently a number of commenter's walk back comments made in the heat of the moment.
we get it. we understand. we appreciate.
@ Cees - many thanks. and likewise, wishing you & your family a most happy holidays & good health in the new year.
@ LRR - thank you. proof again that we reap what we sow.
"And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love
You make."
ps - over the years, on various occasions, someone will forward over to us the following passage. while we know many appreciate the words and their meanings, others less so.
scroll on or read on ...
today, for us, we find the passages more profound than ever.
Matthew 3:11-12
"As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
"His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and *He will gather His WHEAT into the BARN, but He will burn up the CHAFF with unquenchable fire."
Matthew, Chapter 13, verse #30:
"Let both grow together until harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say
to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles
to burn them: but gather the wheat into my BARN."
be the gRAIN...
be the gRAIN...
be the gRAIN...
Good to know that Neil is always near by on Thrashers Wheat. I find it comforting because he is a genuinely good person, and he cares about everyone here….there…. and everywhere. Rare is the man who can see we are all one, and care enough to speak out for all. I’m glad to be part of this story.
Peace 🙏
Good job Thrasher. It's good to know Neil appreciates your efforts and the support of the grain.
