In response to one in the latest batch of letters, Neil says “The Volume II solution will be announced in 2 days!!!!” Get ready for some comments....
The story makes Geffen seem like a moron
@Abner: seems a bit odd that he won't allow a re-release. Did he make that $1,000,000 per album back yet? Hopefully Geffen will allow 82-87 songs to be included in Vol III (and/or IV). Only outtakes from this era and no album tracks would be too big of a gap. I can't imagine an archives without Transformer Man, Sample & Hold, I Got a Problem, Get Gone, Hippie Dream, Misfits, Inca Queen or Mideast Vacation.
Quick question re: Vol 2: Lookin’ over the track listing for the new set, I’m seein’ Lookin’ for a Love listed on both the Dume disc and the Look Out for My Love disc. Neither is denoted as a new unreleased version. Any predictions as to what this will mean (almost certainly not the Zuma album version twice)?
Tomatron, I think the second one must be a Typo; should be Look Out for My Love.
Typos happen, Queen of them All is listed as Queen of the Mall in the file cabinet...
Harm, that is the obviously correct answer right under my nose. I guess if one must typo, then go big with the title track of the disc! Thank you, the universe has returned to order and all is well :)
The announcement has hit the Times-Contrarian front page: “NYA Volume II Lives!” I think I’ll go with the retail version: more appropriately priced, takes up less shelf space, and I can support my local record store who needs all the help they can get.
Harm, good points! I love Trans and I agree about those specific songs. I have to admit I have some issues with Geffen. I never liked him, thought he was a blatant opportunist. He sued Neil Young, once I heard him say- "in order to save Neil's career." What a total joke. Guy is about money. But I am used to this now. Maybe I should just join the club, drop those things that matter to me, sell out, become an administrator.
