Thrasher's Wheat Goes On the Beach
Down by the Corner (Somewhere between The Land of OZ & Greendale)
We here at Thrasher's Wheat will soon be going On the Beach.
Just so our regular readers know, we will be offline for the next couple of weeks. Nothing to be alarmed about.
So while we have been planning the celebrations for Thrasher's Wheat 20th Anniversary: 1996 - 2016 , there is actually another big celebration here in the Thrashers household this year. And a far more momentous anniversary at that -- which would be the 25th wedding anniversary of Thrasher and Thrashette.
As humbled as we might be by running what is now the longest continuously running website dedicated to a single topic on the Internet, it is our long relationship with our soulmate and the unconditional love that matters the most.
So as we consciously co-create awareness of our separate realities, we'll see everyone on the other side of the Big Shift.
Lastly, the TW t-shirt orders are coming along nicely. Shirts ordered and logo printed. Now for the tie dye phase where each shirt will be uniquely created.
So we'll be back later on here in April with an update, and we will continue to bring you wonderful folks out there only the wheat of Neil Young news. No chaff.
peace & love,
thrasher and thrashette

musical hearts. Thank you.
"...watching you the other night. Dancing in the evening light. True love
conquers all...."
Have fun. Thanks so much for your dedication and love to our mutual man of interest, the rock and roll shape shifter known as Neil Young. Enjoy. Stay safe. They just found a body in an Australian ghost town mine wearing a Neil Young 2009 AU tour shirt, murdered, wrapped in a tarp. 50+ year old guy with false teeth. I saw it on Google news. Maybe some of us can help ID the poor guy. Sorry to bring this news. Peace. Alan in Seattle
Have fun!
Why am I not surprised Alan would leave such a comment? good grief.....
Congratulations to you both. Love and only love. Enjoy your time together and travel safely to your beach of choice.
Congratulations to you both!
Now that the holidays have come
They can relax and watch the sun
Rise above all
of the beautiful things
They`ve done...
Aw, that's great news - 25 years! Congrats & take all the time in the world.

25th wedding anniversary and 20th anniversary of Thrasher's Wheat? So after marriage you needed only 5 years to focus on the important things in life. ;-)
Congrats to you both!!! Ralf @ www.rusted-moon.com
Congrats Thrash, love you both! Have a great time away. Peace and love for sure!
Terri
Congratulations! Have a great time.
Congratulations and enjoy the holiday!
Congratulations you two! Enjoy your time off and long may you run.
On the beach is perfect. Sharing this perfect equinoxic moonshine with you and Thrashette.
Hope the Thrashers are enjoying their well earned time off, but hope they don't get "stuck in the sun" as there are still many rows left to hoe.

Hey, I'm missing my daily fix, so to get things rolling a little:
What's your favorite and least favorite "On the Beach" song and why?
Mine changes quite often, but today my favorite is Revolution Blues. I think it's very clever lyrically, and musically its solid straight charging no frills rock works well with the lyrics and vocal.
"I won't deceive you
I just don't believe you"
"I hope you get the connection
cause I can't take the rejection"
Virtually every other song at times has been my favorite....
Now, I have no hesitation in naming my least favorite song. It's always been at the bottom for me, and it is: Vampire Blues
It's just weak lyrically and musically. A wise man once said, "there's just no there, there" which pretty much says it all.
Otherwise though, a near perfect album. Always in my all-time Neil top five while some others rotate in and out.
Take my advice

interesting tidbit from wikipedia i somehow never heard before:
Originally Young had intended for the A and B sides of the LP to be in reverse order, but was convinced by David Briggs to swap them at the last moment. Young has said that he later came to regret caving in.
Dan1, that's interesting. Just shows that Neil should stick to making the music and let good producers produce!
"Vampire Blues" would have been an absolute all-time clunker as an album closer.
Come to think of it, I have a few problems with many of Neil's album closers. I'll have to check to see if Briggs produced them or not (probably not). We may be on to something here...

don't listen to me
Anyone know the source of that anecdote about the On The Beach sequencing? Not one I've heard before. Sounds a little odd.
Topanga: Agreed that Neil should let his "producer produce".
Scotsman.
After reading Dan1's post, I checked Wikipedia. The statement was there, but I believe it was unattributed.
Again, it would have been a catastrophic mistake to reverse the sides. As it stands, "Walk On" is a great opener and "Ambulance Blues" is the definitive closer.
Just listened to the song "On the Beach" and it always amazes me how easily it transports me into its world. It's an entity unto itself with slow and slower musical peaks creating an atmospheric bubble which I can't wait to enter and can't wait to escape. Brilliant!
"Though my problems are meaningless, that don't make them go away"
"I need a crowd of people but I can't face them day to day"
I'm just staring at the poster with a complete blank.
indeed the wikipedia claim is unattributed so I'm reserving judgement. Granted there is a lot of misinformation on the internet but would be mildly surprising for someone to make that claim up out of the blue ...
Nice story about Lukas, Neil and Promise of the Real just went up on the RS site:

interesting comment from Luke Nelson in an interview with Paste, seems to suggest Neil is working on some kind of live album from last year's POTR tour. Won't hold my breath but you never know, I wonder what will come out first, this or Trunk Show :) also a bit confusing because it seems that Nelson is at the same time rebutting the view that Neil and POTR have been recording another studio album ...
Paste: I was watching the Neil Young film retrospective a few days ago online. During the q-and-a section, he told Cameron Crowe that he was recording another album with you and your band and that the experience was effortless and like nothing he’d ever done before.
Nelson: I think he must have been talking about the live recordings from the shows we did together. He’s putting something together for release.
Good catch Dan.

Once again it seems Neil is the least reliable source describing his music (past, present and future). As always, I'll let the music do the talking if and when the album comes out.
Take my advice
