The latest issue of Broken Arrow Magazine, published by the Neil Young Appreciation Society just arrived and we're now finishing up reading the issue. As always a nice read -- especially as we look back while looking ahead.
And -- thanks to the generous support of NYAS and editor Scott Sandie -- we're pleased to be able to offer a copy of the latest issue of Broken Arrow Magazine to a Thrasher's Wheat reader. Details follow below.
Issue #120 (November 2010) of Broken Arrow Magazine - as usual - has some fine articles, commentary and nice photos.
In particular, a very detailed appreciation of the life and music of Ben "Long Grain" Keith by Pete Long. With many rare photos and memories of Ben's work, this is the definitive piece on Neil's legendary sideman and a must read.
Also, a most excellent Scott breaks the setlist of the Twisted Tour into a series of acts and scenes in framing the concerts as a cohesive statement of themes on love, loss, and change.
Also in the issue:
- NYAS 2010 Convention Report by Lauretta Hobson
- Concert review and analysis of the Twisted Tour by Mark Golley
- A most unusual survey of Neil Young's releases in Africa
- Bridge School concert reports
So check out the Neil Young Appreciation Society page for more info on how to join.
Don't be denied!
Thanks Scott and everyone who is supporting the NYAS & BA!

This is a really special issue. Words are not my strong point, but have to say the past year Broken Arrow has given us some great issues , with articles about Neil's childhood by Sharry Wilson. (Sharry has the enthusiasm; does the research;and has a talented pen).
This issue #120 is just excellent. Superb production. Great article on Ben by Pete Long, followed by "Memories of Ben".
Well written reviews of all recent events, and with Neil there's always events! directly or indirectly. Ah, it's a fine issue as # 120 should be.
ps Sharry's articles are in # 117 & # 118.
#120 high point for me is the excellent tribute to Ben.
Totally agree Crris, Sharry`s articles are always very good and well researched, and Pete long`s tribute to Ben is astonishing. So much I didn`t know about the man!
