Release Date: September 28, 2010
The BluRay edition of Neil Young's Le Noise is now available to pre-order on Amazon.com. The BluRay edition features the complete Le Noise film by Producer Daniel Lanois.
Apparently, this is an Amazon.com exclusive. (Just a reminder, purchases thru Amazon help support Thrasher's Wheat. Thank you!)
Also, see Review: Neil Young's "Le Noise".
FYI: For international (non-USA) readers, please use your country's Amazon link in the right sidebar for purchases. International (non-USA) Amazon orders clicked through the US link above will not generate a small commission back to TW. Cheers!
ps - oh, and no sorry, we don't know when Trunk Show will come out. But it'll be on afull moon, probably. there's a rumblin'...
12 Comments:
From checking Amazon, it appears that the DVD version (which is the one I'm concerned with, personally) is also available for preorder, to be released on the same date (why no mention of this...?).
A couple of questions come to mind. Both DVD and Bluray versions are displayed on Amazon in what look like standard DVD/Bluray cases, and are listed as containing one disc. So will these be just single-disc releases, as distinct from the traditional CD/DVD pairing?
Also, will there be any extras along with the film?
And also it appears to be Region 1 encoded (US and Canada only).
I wonder if Archives Guy can confirm if this will be the case, or if it will be region-free like the Archives DVDs are.
Cheers, Thos.
Another ? for AG (or whoever knows): will the audio be the same hi-res quality we've come to expect from Neil with the Archives? I held off on the vinyl in hopes the blu-ray version would offer excellent fidelity.
This is good news!
Neil is known for his innovativ releases... it would bee very nice if the disk contains a sourround mix of the album!
I also hope for live material...

Re: Le Noise Blu-ray
The Le Noise DVD and Blu-ray are both region free.
Amazon put the wrong info in their listing.
24/96 audio on the DVD
24/192 audio on the Blu-ray
both are stereo.
Please pass on to Thrashers Wheat where the same questions have been asked.
I got to get back to 1976 for a few hours today,

Archives Volume V will come out before 'Trunk Show'. What the hell happened to Warner Brothers and Demme's roll-out of the film? Why do I have a feeling that it won't be released on DVD?
Perhaps the passing of L.A. and now Ben this year has affected the release somehow - I'm just searching here for possible reasons...
From the Rust List:
I believe that Trunk Show will be making another round of theatrical showings
before it goes to DVD.
There are no scheduled release dates for this and Toast...at this time.

If it's regio free, all the better, they are ripping us off here in Europe as far as CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays are concerned. I've seen the Blu-Ray listed for 20 Euro, that's $26.75; whereas its $14.49 on amazon...
in related news, end of year best of lists are starting to come out. le noise is a no show.

Amazon bumped their price up to $18.99 - and like a twit I bought then, with shipping to UK. Now down to $13.99.
And they're still showing it as a Region 1 only release, though I contacted them to clarify.
