The Damage Done - OFFICIALLY UPDATED
UPDATE: Archives Guy reports:
Hello Rusties,
There is much speculation about the fire yesterday, mostly based on internet news reports.
Here are some facts.
1-despite the damage, most everything of real value survived.
2-the archives are safe and not there.
3-some video and film was onsite and is ok.
4- Lincvolt was parked over night there and did not fare well in the fire.
5-no precious guitars were on site.
6- I foresee a yard sale in our future and imagine that you will hear abut it thru me or other official channels.
7- everyone is ok
We thank you for your ongoing support and kind thoughts at this time.
-your friendly neighborhood Archives Guy
Thanks AG. All in all, aside from #4, this sounds much better than we feared.
courage, our friends, courage...
From Mileage Quest | Your Mileage May Vary - for the better:
Neil, Team Lincvolt;
You've lit a candle for where we're going. Absolutely no pun intended. You've opened eyes and minds and caused many to think differently about powering our vehicles. You have demonstrated there is indeed something ahead worth looking for.
We learn from it all -- even this.
Thanks Randy.
Laura Marling, 'The Needle And The Damage Done' by Tim Chester NME
Don't ask us why, but somehow this cover of Neil Young's "The Needle And The Damage Done" by Laura Marling seems to feel right just about now.
Produced by Jack White, of the White Stripes, this is helping a bit given yesterday's fire at Neil Young's warehouse.
in so many words, can YOU tell ME why?

Thanks for the update! Pity about Lincvolt but other than that it sounds like it was a largely lucky escape.
Indeed. This is terrible news, but things can always be replaced. People cannot.
Thanks Thrasher and Archives Guy for the updates. Neil will rise above these ashes like the phoenix he is.
OMG -All the hard work and imagination that has gone into the LincVolt- hope that it is able to be restored to prove that Big and American Cars can be fuel friendly.
Hope that the fire is a blessing in disguise.
Thanks for the report, Archives Guy.
I'm still sorry for LV, but I want to quote Neil and say "Walk on, Walk on" ...
Love, Liza
The person that started the fire is half way back to Detroit by now.
Why not sell pieces of the current Linc-Volt to raise funding/awareness for the reconstruction?
Archives Guy and Thrasher:
Thank you SO much for the updates!
I am so sorry to hear about all the damage done.
Will they be able to save LV? I have grown so fond of her over all this time, and have spent so much time watching her restoration and transformation on her website. I've always enjoyed Neil's visits there as well.
As always, Neil and his family are in my heart and in my prayers!

Big Oil really, really don't like alternative energy.....
Of course Big Oil doesn't like alternative energy, but is now really the time for conspiracy theories? The batteries in LV are quite dangerous and my hunch (worth about zero) is that the fire started there.
Whatever the cause, I'm praying for Neil and hope he pulls through yet another tragedy.
Peace and love (Lennon's good-bye)
I knew his all his guitars were safe, only an idiot would store vintage guitars in a warehouse.
