LincVolt Damaged in Fire: Long May She Run!
UPDATE: Rolling Stone | Three-Alarm Fire Severely Damages Neil Young's Warehouse
Photo by Peter Mootz - Belmont, CA Patch
All day long news feeds, Neil Young News reports , fan news aggregators, and rumors and even posts of grief and mourning have been circulating about the fire at Neil Young's warehouse earlier this morning.
First, we'll just say that nothing has been officially confirmed about damage as of yet. And there's been lots of speculation... The Archives went up in flames... Ol' Black is toast... LincVolt scorched?!
What we have now are only fragments of statements by local fire officials, property owners and reporters on the scene with wildly varying claims. Some early reports of $1 million in damage do not cite a source for figures. News footage below has someone shouting "It's only smoke damage".
There are statements such as "most equipment saved" because it was in road cases and was "foamed".
In this video news from KRON4 | Fire Damages Rock Star Neil Young's San Carlos Warehouse, reporter states that "guitars and songs were burned".
And we do know and see "vintage car damage". The LincVolt license plate is clearly visible in the news footage.
Put out every fire in town
Put out anything smokin'
But when I put the hose down
The judge sent me to prison
He gave me life without parole
Wish I never put the hose down
Wish I never got old.
There's crime in the city... and fire in the 'burbs...
Whatever the fire loss, we may never really know. it is after all, "just stuff".
But here's the thing. Neil lost L.A. in January, then Ben in the summer along w/ the Lanois accident.
LV -- in her own special way -- is/was family.
this much sadness is too much sorrow....

Is this for real! LINCVOLT?! Damn, what a blow.
RIP LINCVOLT
that is just so sad ...
This is unbelievably bad news, poor Neil, poor Lincvolt........why???
Been burned and with both feet on the ground,
I've learned that it's painful comin' down.
No use runnin' away, and there's no time left to stay.
Now I'm finding out that it's so confusin',
No time left and I know I'm losin'.
This plain sucks. I guess only the good die young after all.
Neil and all - our deepest sympathies on your loss.
I still haven't seen any confirmation on this outside of Thrasher's video posts. Is AG around to provide any clarity for us about what's happened, how bad it is, how bad the damage is to LV, etc.?
I'd have expected to hear from him by now.
Hello Rusties,
There is much speculation about the fire yesterday, mostly based on internet
news reports.
Here are some facts.
1-despite the damage, most everything of real value survived.
2-the archives are safe and not there.
3-some video and film was onsite and is ok.
4- Lincvolt was parked over night there and did not fare well in the fire.
5-no precious guitars were on site.
6- I foresee a yard sale in our future and imagine that you will hear abut it
thru me or other official channels.
7- everyone is ok
We thank you for your ongoing support and kind thoughts at this time.
-your friendly neighborhood Archives Guy

Well how 'bout that. Ask and ye shall receive.
This is truly unfortunate for LincVolt. Good to hear the other points.
Oh no, what a sad new, again ! Even if it’s not comparable with LA Johnson and Ben Keith
recent loss, it’s a dirty trick for Neil, again… Is it going to stop one day ?
Most of us here know how important LincVolt was for Neil and how passionate he is by his project.
It’s been a shock to see her completly burned on this video and I can’t even imagine how difficult it must be for Neil to see it for real.
It’s true that things can be replaced, but I guess LincVolt was much more than just a car.
As ShittyHorse said, LV is like a kind of good friend for some of us, we used to see her and to hear from her so many times since a few years, all these great video clips
Get around movie, songs, The LV gazette, the web cam and more …
She was just back from Las Vegas, how could we have imagined that would be her last trip…
That’s sad. I would love thinking that someone could bring he back to life but looking at
the videos doesn’t make me optimistic, it’s like her « eyes » are closed forever. Hope I’m wrong.
After the terrible loss of two of his best friends, Neil really didn’t need that, sometimes life can be so unfair.
All my sympathy to you, Neil, to Pegi and to the LincVolt team, I wish you all the courage you need.
PS : Thanks AG for the update.

The sad fact is that those lithium batteries used in LV and other hybrid vehicles are quite dangerous.
This sucks, but I'm praying that Neil will pull through eventually.
The ordinary insurance policyholder now has access: basic rights and vital information—even footing, equality—the security of knowing what to expect in terms of disaster preparedness/recovery—fortitude. You would think that's already part of the bargain. If only that were true! Thanks to advertising that is a world-wide myth.
