"Long May You Run" Covered By Crosby, Stills & Nash - 3rd July, 2010, London on YouTube

"Long May You Run" by Crosby, Stills & Nash at the Royal Albert Hall, London, England, Saturday 3rd July, 2010. They introduced this song and said they felt they had to include at least one number from "that tall, skinny Canadian"!

Neil and Nash (more or less) sound vocally now the way they did 40 years ago...Crosby and Stills do not...it's inevitable...

Seeing Stills nowdays is very sad because it reminds us what is life. Once an augustus musician with a remarkable piece of work spanning '67-'74, now a man who fails to convince us that he's the one who wrote, sang and played on all those classics (and brilliant obscurities). Crosby admitted in Uncut interview that he's now doing it only for money. More worst than that is seeing lack of any communication between him and Stills today.

It's the whole CSN(Y) irony, from the summer of love to the winter of discontent, from playing Woodstock to playing Las Vegas casinos.
The only thing left to do is to sit on the balcony, crank that first CSN LP loud and enjoy. Life is fine, even with the ups and downs...

Cheers!

I don't understand the comments
about AARP or that these guys are trying to convince us that they're 24 years old. Everyone grows old, unless you're James Dean..so everybody lay off the age thing.Reggie Jackson can't run the bases anymore & Jim Plunkett can't throw the pigskin anymore either. Just let CSNY play & sing as long as thet want, they'll always have an audience...

@ Rick - Thanks. yeah, I don't get it either.

maybe same folks who complain that Neil's newer songs aren't as strong as his earlier work?

Very sad indeed... Hate to say it, but that is a geezer fest at the RAH.

Nowadays, they should call themselves, CSN&Why?

Sorry Rick. I really wasn't trying to be negative. Hell, it was MY AARP magazine I saw it in! It was just sort of shocking to see what they are doing compared to what is happening with Neil's career. Sandy Horne

before I played the clip, I was thinking NASH was gonna sing it...*I* think he shoulda...Stephen has apparently lost his singing voice--again that's inevitable...but he's gotten better as an electric guitarist, that counts for something...

I remember decades ago this started with malcontents calling the band "Crusty,Stills,Trash and Dung".
I don't think any readers here are old enough to remember that. At the time I thought it was funny and inventive, but like these guys, my skin is thick. Words are not going to influence my heart and soul.
Ringo just turned 70! He's still out there touring because he loves the MUSIC! It's all about the love of music! Sure the money's good, but that subject just brings up JEALOUSY, and that my friends is just ONE of the seven deadly sins.

I hope you all live long enough to enjoy your retirement years.

Peace and Love.

I love CS&N but that really sucked. The most entertaining part was watching Crosby trying to take his hand out of his pocket.

The thing is that I don't think the air around CSN is healthy today... David and Stephen aren't speaking to each other, David's in large financial debts and Graham acts like a mediator between the two. That's why I think they're in it for the wrong reasons

At 7/09/2010 09:58:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I watched youtube videos with David and Stephen speaking to each other on this tour. WTF are you talking about? Same old stale gossip.

Long may they run! There are many youtubes out there from RAH. Watch them all and then decide.

Thrasher, I'm sick of the childish assholes that post here. Most of them couldn't tune a guitar properly let alone play.

I saw Neil on the current tour and he didn't come across as a 64 year old man. Just the opposite. He's still sharp as a knife. CS&N sound like they're headlining at an old folks home. And I love these guys. If that makes me an asshole because I think that, then I'm an asshole! Long may you stroll you old stubborn geezers. Damn.

Check out ALL the youtubes from RAH before making a comment. Picking the worst one and putting up here so people can take pot-shots at CSN is CHICKENSHIT, IMHO. This is a great tour. They've been doing amazing stuff. Great vocals, guitar work by Stills. To put up the worst youtube of the bunch doesn't do Thrasher's site justice or CSN. This is petty nonsense and beneath all of us. I'm sorry to see such desperation here. Anything to get people to post on this site?

@ 7/10/2010 10:43:00 AM:

Couple of points. 1st, LMYR is the only video we've seen from the tour. So whether its representative, we have no idea.

As we said, we're just glad to them still up on stage.

Obviously, we're not posting just to provoke comments. Frankly, we think a lot of folks post inflammatory stuff to get a reaction. So we don't see this as simply an opp for folks to "take pot-shots at CSN is CHICKENSHIT, IMHO. "

If you feels this is "desparate", well. whatev. walk on.

if you've got a better vid, bring it on. Happy to post.

peace

I saw them in Antwerp yesterday and they were great.

Stephen Stills still rocks.

David Crosby can really sing.

Graham Nash looks fitter then ever.

So I don't see the problem. They also played LMYR and I liked their version.

It's good to hear this video doesn't represent their current work. I love these guys but I don't follow them like I do Neil. Or they don't command my attention like Neil does. Would still like to see them sometime but they don't come around here much. Dallas, TX that is. Neil coming to the Meyerson just dropped out of the sky, same as Greendale, Thank God!

Hey, one of the greatest moments at a concert for me was watching Stephen and Neil crank out "Treetop Flyer" in 2006. Stephen can still put togther some great guitar work -- and his gravely voice works on certain songs - sadly, LMYR isn't one of them. I guess you could interpret this as a bit of a distress call to Neil - "Hey Man, we NEED you!"

Seems to me that some fans, perhaps myself included, can be harsh on these guys cause Neil at times was harsh with these guys, for example the way he described CSNY '74, songs like hippie dream, ect... that said, it seems like over the years Neil's gone past all that stuff and in some ways even looks after these guys, and it seems they've come to look up to him. True to contrast between them can be a bit shocking but that's much more because Neil has managed to buck the trend of aging rock star whose milking a greatest hits collection, rather he's as relevant as ever and these guys are doing their best to keep on keeping on and I'd argue their doing no worse than James Taylor or the surviving members of the Grateful Dead or any other act from the 60s. The fact is all those acts lived hard and they've all become old ... the fact that they're out there in their late 60s and 70s is sort of unprecedented. Yes its a shock to the system to see how old our heros have become and most aren't what they used to be but its great to see them out there and I wish em all the best.

I THINK YOU HAVE HIT THE NAIL ON THE PROVERBIAL HEAD.WHEN CSN FIRST STARTED OUT,THEY WERE THE SUPERSTARS & NEIL WAS STILL THE UNKNOWN COMMODITY.WHEN CSN BECAME CSNY, NEIL WAS THE YOUNGEST MEMBER OF THE "BEST SOUNDING LAW FIRM IN POP". UP UNTIL 1974,IT ALWAYS SEEMED TO ME THAT CSN WAS LOOKING AFTER YOUNG BECAUSE FROM 1973-1975
NEIL WAS RIDING IN THE DITCH AFTER
DRIVING DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH "HARVEST". MAYBE NEIL HAS SOMETIMES PUT CSN ON THE BACK BURNER & LET THEM STEW BUT I DON'T THINK HE HAS EVER FORGOTTEN WHAT THEY DID FOR HIS CAREER...

I saw CSN in July 2008 and they were amazing. Just blew me away. Even my cynical friend, who was expecting the worst, came away absolutely awed by their performance. Their vocals were spot on, and Stephen's guitar work was brilliant. As someone who's actually seen them relatively recently, THEY'VE STILL GOT IT!Just my two cents worth.
