This one is for the Gulf of Mexico.
We think we're sure that when Neil wrote this song, an oil gusher disaster wasn't on his mind. Or maybe so?

I live in Salzburg and when this concert happend, i was only 5 years old.
I wish i would have been older 95'
and had joined the concert...
This is the best Version of I'm the Ocean i Know....
I was there at this great show and it was my second Neil concert. I'm always there when he comes to Austria and I hope he will come again soon.
There are top quality recordings from this tour that are hiding in both Neil and Pearl Jam's vaults. Come on - no one outside of Seattle and Europe got to see these shows!!
Some of us (like me) got into Neil Young through his association with PJ. And I'm not embarassed about that fact either since in 1995, I was 22 and devoted to PJ.
I realize that there was a show in San Francisco in June of 1995 where Eddie Vedder became ill and Neil stepped in. And I was at the DC shows In January of that year. But The European tour is where they really became a cohesive band and kicked ass every night.
Jonathan,
yeah, the Euro gigs were awesome.
And that day that Neil stepped in for Eddie on the SF Polo Fields was really one for the books.
Here's a blast from the past:
Pearl Jam & Neil Young Concert Review - Polo Field, San Francisco, CA - June 24, 1995
this song grabbed me the most off Mirror Ball. I then knew that Neil really was the "Giant Undertow"
Had they been older, Pearl Jam would have been Crazy Horse...
Thanks so much for the link, Thrasher. Ya know, it must have been really hard for David Briggs to follow 'Mirror Ball' that year - if he followed it at all based on what we can gather from 'Shakey'.
The fact that so far, that album remains a one-off makes it even more special to me when reviewed in the context of what things were like in 1995.
'Those were the days...bring 'em back' - FITR
It was my first Neil show.
It was/ is my birthday.
It was the third show he did in Austria. ( 2 in 1987 )
Remarkable: Neil played "Broken Arrow" It took me some years to realize what a rare moment.
