Exclusive Footage: CSNY at Altamont '69
Some ultra rare footage of the Rolling Stones and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young at Altamont in 1969 from The Observer.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Stones' infamous concert at Altamont, award-winning Guardian photographer Eamonn McCabe unearths his previously unseen footage.
Eamonn McCabe says: "If Woodstock was the dream, Altamont was the nightmare".
Thanks Yer Blog!
On a happier note, here's some memories of CSN & Neil Young at Woodstock.

Hey now Thrash...how 'bout some props for ol' Johnny Rocket!?
i put the CSNY / Altamont link up on your site a couple of days ago. You are correct, this is, indeed, ultra rare.
a few years ago, i saw photos of CSNY at Altamont, but never video. You have to believe that addl film (with sound) must exist somewhere, in someone's vault. Anyone ever check with the Stones or the Maysles Brothers - any Gimme Shelter outtakes?
Meanwhile, speaking of CSNY, Nash recently mentioned that Neil asked him to pull together usable tracks from the '74 Tour. Me thinks that will be a featured disc in Archives, Vol. 2.
Cough Up The Bucks!

This guy on guardian doesn't even acknowledge neil in this video. He says CSN.

You dont seem to be able to play the videos in it, but you can listen to all tracks and tracklist is further below. Had already ordered my bluray set anyway (plus a cd set) , but this just keeps looking better and better and even sounds ok on my crappy laptop with headphones. Cant wait to hear on my stereo. Studio versions of bad fog and JTTP are great, as well as live HOG. Love the "file cabinet " in the "Song Selection " area ...

If you click one of the yellow pins on the timeline a screen comes up that says Neil Young with the Stray Gators - Gator Stomp, but it doesn't play. I wonder what that is?
So awesome how it has the commentary from live shows... I can see why the blu-ray will be cool as you can play while you listen. Oh well, I didn't even have the money I shelled out for the DVDs. So glad I ordered this on Friday. I can't wait to see what other surprises are in store. Thanks Neil!
I accidently stumbled upon the link for the video of where Neil claims his own bootleg in a record store, although it doesn't work. You go to the more section and then click on an amp and that's where it is.
Sweet. Gator Stomp is an instrumental from harvest. I was always looking for it on the tracklist. Nice to see it's here.
I think there are a couple others too. Gator Rag and Gator Rag#2. Maybe they'll show up somewhere too.
