That version of Cortez mentioned here in Episode IV also perfectly blends with the Dead Man recordings: slow guitar mirage.
Interesting on the Dead Man connection here Dionys.
The sound on this Cortez is really unique. Of course the solo is a big part. But when Neil has done Cortez solo is was previously always acoustic. These are the 1st solo electric Cortez's.
A whole new sound from Ol Black! love it.
The only electric guitar that Neil had with him on the Twisted Road Tour that I could see was his white falcon. When we saw him in Austin he played an incredible version of Cortez on the white falcon. That Gretch tone is unmistakable. This version from the Timeline Concert is absolutely brilliant as well.
Peace 🙏
@ Dan - we stand corrected. Thanks so much for pointing out.
The White Falcon soars ! Long live ol Black!
How about that Bluenotes concert just uploaded?!
At least something gets better in life everyday ... NYA.
btw, we had a few glitches on this upload. So another edit has been uploaded to replace.
the soft launch shakedown continues ...
Just watched the Thrasher's Wheat Podcast #4 and enjoyed it a lot - just had to leave a comment about the Twisted Road concert from May 2010 - I saw Neil on that tour the week before in Worcester Mass at the Hanover Theater, another historic old theater - the stage was set up almost like a living room, with a big old-fashioned lamp with red fringes on the stage on top of the oriental rug and right next to Woodie - I'm a long time Neil fan but even I was kinda jaw-dropped when he did almost the whole show "electric solo" with the White Falcon - my son and I were in the front row of the 2nd section, about 12 rows from the stage - Neil was in top form and yes did lots of Le Noise, and as you noted, when he hit the low notes you could feel the Rumblin lol - I still have the Twisted Road tour booklet and t-shirt I bought on the way out of the venue - ah, memories....
