Maybe Neil should work more closely with the pressing plant then. A well-pressed vinyl is great, but the sound quality suffers when pressings are rushed or substandard materials are used. "Psychedelic Pill" and "The Visitor" were great. "Hitchhiker" I returned twice due to warped records. The third record sent to me was also warped, so I gave up on trying to find a decent copy. The reissue of "Harvest Moon" seemed like another cash-grab in that there were mastering issues and distortion on some tracks. That may be due to the digital recording of that album, however Neil shouldn't make such bold statements of vinyl being "king" when he can't even put out a consistent product.
Great news for me as I prefer vinyl over everything else.
Looks like ROXY Tonights the Night Live will be four discs...
Can't wait. Neil hasn't lost touch with what's really important.
I'm relieved and excited for more vinyl from the Archives.
Peace
I must admit that after playing around on the NYA web site, it's very intuitive and easy to navigate. Now that it appears that physical products will still be an option for us RUSTIES, I can relax.
Peace
I love the vinyl. I love the consistency of his product and the above-standard materials. Always props to Gary Burden for the iconic Neil imagery.
Can anyone zoom in on the track list on that Roxy disc? I can't make it out
I have had very minor issues with pressings from Neil in the recent passed, but for the most part his records have been outstanding. That being said; the box sets of the Original Release Series has dropped noticeably from the first one. I wish Neil would work with Pallas Pressings as they have been doing all of the Zappa re-releases and every single one has been pristine. The prices would go up, but the quality is unsurpassed. I'll happily to pay more for quality.
Peace.
..... and Quality Pressings in Kansas has been doing all the Hendrix pressings right here in the U.S. of A, and are doing meticulous work with everything they press. They even have their own label, Analog Productions that feature AAA pressings on 200 gram vinyl by numerous artists that frankly blow everyone else away for sound quality. They've done CCR, The Doors, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and selected titles from Grateful Dead that are out of this world..... again....they aren't cheap, but then why settle for anything less than perfect.
Peace.
4 LPs seems like too much for Roxy. Those shows weren't that long. 10ish songs per?
Hard to see how Roxy fills 4 Laps. Those shows were about 90 min iirc
I wonder if Alchemy will get the 4LP treatment too - walk like a giant will take up one whole by itself!!
Ps
Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real are touring Australia next month - including 4 sets at bluesfest!
Maybe it’s all the sets in their entirety? That would be amazing, like a mini version of Bob Dylan’s live 1966 box set!
Actually the recent Zappa's Roxy (December 1973) is a 7 cds set. I think that Neil is also slowly losing the copyright on the unreleased performances here in Europe.
Bad-ass, I never expected more than one ROXY lp, but it was a multi-night stand, so it is possible.
I would be happy if they included more than one show.
