Neil Young Announces 2014 Concert Dates

Neil Young has announced a four-night run at Carnegie Hall in New York City for January 6, 7, 9 and 10.

Tickets go on sale Monday (Nov. 4).

Pre-sale begins tomorrow Friday, Nov. 1 at 10 AM ET.

See official http://neilyoung.com for details and http://tix.concertmaps.com/neilyoung/.

Don't be denied.

As a side note, last time we posted pre-sale info, a few folks wrote in suggesting that we shouldn't announce this on TW. But here's our thinking on posting pre-sale info. Fan pre-sales have become somewhat of a joke. Every ticket scalper in the country has this info way in advance of the average fan. And the ticket brokers will be out in full force with their automated buying programs scooping up the tickets while we try and decipher those squiggly CAPTCHAs.

So we're just try to give Neil fans a heads up on this. The more legitimate Neil fans snagging tix means the fewer go on the market via scalpers. Which we think is a good thing.

While this is great news my fear is that I get tickets and make plans and then he announces four nights in Philly...then two in DC...I've seen this so many times with Neil's team...they slowly announce shows one or two at a time and eventually we realize it's a full tour. That's how the Horse dates trickled out last year. But I am all in for a winter trip to New York to see Neil...especially at Cargenie Hall.

So it's a Neil Young show? No Crazy Horse? Perhaps even some new songs? Ah, sweet mystery

At 11/01/2013 06:57:00 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

My guess is that he's going to test out some new songs live before he goes into the studio & cuts an album. That has generally been a pattern of Neil's over the decades.

Solo ? Crazy Horse ? CSNY ? Buffalo Springfield ? The Squires ?

Maybe with Pegi ???

I hope it's solo acoustic, but I'll take Neil anyway I can get him.

Thank God Neil is still here, always doing his thing.

The shows are listed on the Carnegie Hall site but there is no link on Live Nation's site for the individual concert so there's no idea if a presale code is needed nor anything on ticket prices.

Also....I cannot figure out any information on the shows from Neil's website.

Yee owza... too fast... that effing captcha bs effed me up like 4 times... wennt for the big money tix, slightly relieved that they were gone in 2 seconds, back round for the 3rd time and got a pair for 200... here's the thing... I got a pair for 200 ea. and they are 2nd tier all the way back. I am glad to be in the building but just barely. Then I read that someone scored a single tick for 200 and its located in row 5 center (congrats by the way), so if 200 gets you bleacher seats and 5th row center, wtf do you get for 400?... I am tempted but I cant look at the scalper sites because I know it'll make me sick!

Thank you Neil!!

@tomcrac the cheap ones I got were in center balcony row M. Way up there, But at $57 including charges to be in the room with a living saint I'll take it.

I'd pay $57 to see Neil from the back of the room. Hell, I'd pay $150 but damn, you know there aren't many of those available so that leaves us poor folk out in the cold. Congrats on scoring a reasonably priced seat tomcrac. You beat the odds for sure. To the rest of you that can afford paying $400-$500 for a pair to sit in the back, have a great night. You deserve it!

It wouldn't be any fun if ALL of us were nothing but positive all the time. Thanks for all you do. It is appreciated!! God Bless Neil Young.

Not sure how I lucked out, but I got 2 in row F on the floor. Dead center. At 11:45a est. Went to Carnegie site just out of curiosity to see what the price range was and put in for 2 seats just for the hell of it. I had to read the (somewhat confusing)seating chart a few times to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.

Since I paid $200 and my "section" was labeled as "Parquet F-S" I assume the $400 seats are rows A-E.

Saw Neil at the Beacon a few months before Harvest Moon came out. Sat in the very last row of the top balcony and paid $35. Which at the time also seemed obscene. A ticket is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it!

See you in Dec...

Livenation pre-sale code for the month of November (that's how it works) is BOOMKING. Unfortunately, Livenation is not handling the ticketing for NY @ Carnegie.
BTW
I just got off the phone w/Carnegie Box office & was told all the presale tixs through their site are sold out.
which is why BOOMKING doesn't work on Carnegie's site.
DENIED. twice in the same day.
guess I got a better chance of catching trunk show in a local movie house :(

oh yeah, one more thing for those fans out there with the deep pockets:
go to LIVENATION to buy NY tix now and they will kindly, gently re-direct you to their tickets now partner site where they WILL sell you a ticket @ a premium. they call it a "marketplace for resellers" but I smell a corporate rat.
They (Livenation) will deny it all day long, but once upon a time ago I got redirected to tickets now and stupidly bought seats for a sold - out show (Lucinda @ WAMU theatre MSG). you can only imagine how shocked I was when I realized not only wasn't the show sold out but we were the only suckers in our section (300's)!
Don't be denied but don't be fooled either....

I LUV Neil & have seen him 55x the 1st with CSNY in 1974 but I gotta say that the prices for Neil at Carnegie Hall are OUTRAGEOUS! In fact Neil's concert prices, especially solo have been Over the Top HIGH for at least a Decade. Bruce has pretty much kept his concert prices below a hundred despite carting a huge number of musicians with the current E Street Band & when he has done solo tours & played smaller venues he has not then upped his ticket prices. Yes Bruce has a lot more $$$ than Neil but that's not our fault or concern. And it's not just Bruce, Pearl Jam tix are reasonable & when Eddie Vedder toured on his own he also did not jack up his ticket prices.

Didn't Neil come down on the Eagles years ago for their concert prices being to high? So what's the deal? To my mind this is very UN-Rock'n'Roll to say the least!

I'm sorry to say that Neil has been bleeding his fans for some time now. Lets look at the Archives Box he released some of the Live stuff previous to the Box & then his avid fans like myself then have it twice. When Bruce (my 2nd Favorite) came out with his Born To Run mini box he released the audio concert after the Box. Also think about why Neil didn't release ALL of his albums from that period on Archives? Because several months later he released his 1st 4 albums on CD in upgraded audio & yes I bought them but this is really getting out of hand!

I certainly admire Neil for the Bridge School, his passionate stand for Farm Aid & his ecological stand, but I'm sorry to say that as far as many of his concerts & music releases he is Bleeding US some of his biggest fans. I guess Neil is like everything else - Caveat Emptor.

I do expect to be attacked by some Neil fans which is sad because I think if they really think about it they'd know what I'm saying is true, after all - There's nothin' like a friend to tell you you're just pissin' in the wind.

At 11/04/2013 12:46:00 AM, Blogger TomCrac said...

While I will agree that the top end ticket pricing is way high (to deep for my pockets) for a lot of concerts these days, thing that I have noticed over the last number of Neil's tours, the most expensive ticket in the house isn't necessarily the best seat in the house. In '08 I called ticketbastard at exactly the right time, I said I want 2 for the best available. The person on the phone said they were like 250 ea.(most expensive ticket) I asked where they were. At MSG NY, they were on the side of the stage. I asked what about being on the floor? Turned out the the floor was GA @$70.00 ea. I played it right and was on the rail for less than a third of what the "good" seats went for.

Similar stories for tours there after.

There are other bands that package out there seats for really stupid money. If you want to sit in the first 20 rows, you have to pony up for some bs package.

This go around at Carnegie Hall I was lucky enough to get through the bs captcha system etc. and managed to get a seat 5th row for $200. Now, I don't know where the $400 seats are, nor do I care, but if anyone wanted to sit 5th row for a hot Broadway show and it ran $200, my guess most wouldn't bat an eye.

I still think there's got to be a better way to get the tickets to the fans vs. the scalper scum.

Good luck Monday morning!

At 11/04/2013 09:10:00 AM, Blogger Dan1 said...

i heard there are some $50 seats for these shows
every seat is a pretty good seat
the best seats eventually get sold for $1,000 and the scalpers make the real money

bruce has to charge like that because his marketing ploy is to come off as the common man fighting for the common man ... we all know thats BS but if he charged nosebleed prices his cover would get blown
(that aside, there's no denying bruce is a huge talent who puts on amazing shows)

for the last 5 years I've been buying GA tickets to neil shows for like $75 and they're usually at the FRONT. That's an anomaly in today's concert environment.

The stones are Rock n Roll and they charge like $1,000 per ticket ... I think rock n roll = big business, it is what it is ....

but all things being equal for those of us who have ticket stubs from years gone by at less than $20 or less than $10 there's some sticker shock but the way i look at it better to have an option to pay $100 to see Neil than no option at all ...
