Lincvolt's "Last Phase"
Via Lincvolt - Repowering the American Dream - Blog
So what's up with Neil Young's vexed and hexed car project Lincvolt, designed to "repower the American Dream"?
Could we finally have arrived at Lincvolt's "Last Phase"? Or will there be more forks (& knives) in the road?
From a recent posting on Lincvolt Gazette:
Lincvolt is back at AVL US in Orange County for final calibrating and some work on the instrument panel to show the state of charge and real time use of power. This is the last phase before Lincvolt hits the road with Shakey Pictures for a shakedown cruise. We are all eagerly anticipating this moment that has evaded us for so long. There may be a surprise showing of Lincvolt at an upcoming musical event, demonstrating the breakthrough sound of PONO 21st Century Digital from a PONO system that is now installed in the car. Thanks for staying with us.So might the "upcoming musical event" have been this weekend's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, near Orange County, CA? If so, we haven't seen any firm news reports or sightings.
As you can see by the recent history of the webcam, the car is looking great. We will have the webcam up again soon at AVL for you to view the progress.
Thanks for your support.

See you down that "perseverance" road.

such a awesome ride....way to go team!!!
Gonna Keep Driving by The Catbirds would be the perfect anthem for Linc Volt. Neil should contact Chandler Travis and get a PONO version going for the ride...great minds think alike!
Boring...and indeed a wacked out Hippie Dream...seems obvious after the 1st fire that this design - while admirable on some level - is dangerous.
Even the Toyota Prius is a fire hazard...
And what about the battery pack in Lincvolt? Is that "environmentally friendly"?
@12:59:00 - couple of problems.
The LV fire was not related to the batteries but an "operator charging error".
"Toyota Prius is a fire hazard." oh really? citation?
"environmentally friendly"? compared to what?
Lastly, since you seem so critical, what do you drive and support?
...
"Whenever I see the big fire coming
Coming to burn down all my ideas
I try to hold on to my thinking
And remember how it feels"
Wow, those lyrics!
"Whenever I see the big fire coming
Coming to burn down all my ideas
I try to hold on to my thinking
And remember how it feels"
Sometimes it's good to remember why he is that good.
Run LincVolt Run!
I believe in you!
Yes, I believe in you!
Agree that there are few things in this world more boring than the LincVolt project. Who really cares about a car that has been the subject of a zillion dollars of investment -- what does this prove, for the average person?
Neil should get away from all this nonsense, go out into the woods, reflect, and come up with some good lyrics and tunes.
-Big Old Rig
Right on Big Old Rig...this is another example of no one being willing to tell Neil no...I'm sure all of these "partners" have been quite happy to take Neil's money.
And Thrasher, you are as predictable as the sun rising every morning...
Neil's a Dreamin Man & for that I'll always love him dearly...as he said in his book it's the side projects that bring him back fresh to the muse...
I even think PONO might be terrific...might be...that's the dream...
This car, however...not so much...
How's that Chevy Volt selling?
How's that Chevy Volt selling?
I have no idea, but if it doesn't sell well Neil should definitly continu his journey with LincVolt.
There are still a awful lot of folks who have no idea what is happening to this planet.
LincVolt rules!!!!!!
@01:11:00 PM - We think Neil's talking to you here in the 1st few seconds of this clip.... http://youtu.be/Go0p0pINQOo
You know. The part about the doubters.
peace
Maybe he is trying to change your mind Big Old Rig?

from Man's Search for Meaning
I kind of admire NY being concerned about the environment especially since he's used more carbon that 99% of Americans with all his flying back and forth to Hawaii etc but I really think he's beyond naive to think he can come up with a technology beyond what General Motors, Fiskar, Toyota, Nissan, Tesla etc have come up with already. He's pretty rich by human standards but these corporations have invested billions and billions of dollars in what may be worth hundreds of billions to them in the future. How's sticking a big battery in a classic car supposed to change the world?
Keep on dreamin Lincvolt .
How's the workin class affordin such a thing ?
Nothin but a millionare rock star with his toys , preachin to the workin class that he's never been apart of !
How much jet fuel will the tour burn to get down under this spring ?
Biomass fuel in his rock star jet , he'll be landin on water ...EH !
