FULL VIDEO: Neil Young & Crazy Horse Set from Global Citizen Festival, September 29, 2012
Here's the full video of Neil Young with Crazy Horse at Global Citizen Festival, September 29, 2012 on YouTube.
A comment by Kimball who left a new comment on Photo of the Moment: Dave Grohl & Neil Young & Crazy Horse":
Neil said: "We're joinin' forces for you up here."Thanks Kimball! Loved that full circle observation.
I loved at the beginning of RITFW how Neil walked up to his wedge (guitar pedal system) and started to weave up an effect loop like he was throwing a pizza crust in the air or making some kind of rock and roll cacoon or something. It sounded awesome, then when Grohl brought in some heavily distorted power guitar riffs as the song spooled up to speed, man that was the most powerful start to that song I've ever heard. Unbeleiveable, I hope they put the full resolution video on youtube.
There was generally a good vibe on stage during the song with all the people up there singing and playing. I know that Neil was giving it his all, and I know that he felt the load of all those people wanting their socks knocked off. I think he did a great job leading the mob through the song.
I don't know if Neil has ever jammed with Grohl before, but I can say that I was getting some pretty heavy feelings back to Change Your Mind and Kurt Cobain and Nirvana. I think both Neil and Grohl were experiencing one of those rare connections through time back to where major waves changed them forever. Full circle type stuff. Anyway, I thought the Neil and Crazy Horse performance was top notch.

WOW I'm so glad to see this! ILNY!!! So amazing!
Superb, perhaps The Last Dance
Amazing Amazing Amazing. Loving Walk like a giant.... so amped for the new album now.
Does anybody knows how Neil is getting his sound on stage, I never see any monitors, how does he hear his voice? Only sidefill monitors?
Dave Grohl before had about 4 monitors for himself and then Crazy horse with no monitors at all, just curious!
he talks about that in the Book...can't exactly remember what he said...FWIW, as a Musician, I don't like monitors all that much either...
What ever happened to the Neil/Grohl collaboration that we briefly heard back around late 2010 when 'Sign of Love' was posted online with Grohl playing drums???
I swear all of 'Le Noise' would be great with a full band...
gets me so amped!!! Love and only love....yes indeed! Eric
I see the Exterminator is out of Feelgood's.
so pumped to have this!!! still there was nothing like being there it was POUNDING!!!
Neil has jumped the shark (how sad). Still an artist in the truest, purest sense of the word? Yes. But in the moment, he is now a caricature of himself. Been there, done that. He set the bar high. A tour I've been waiting for since Amherst many years ago is beginning to look and sound like a parody. I see an episode on The Simpsons soon. Sorry Rusties, Briggs is rolling over. Along with many long time fans.

re: " a caricature of himself".
Is Dylan now a caricature of himself? Is Bruce now a caricature of himself?
Aren't all artists a caricature of themselves after their peak?
You point out that Neil didn't sell out. He's still relevant. Ask Dave Grohl or Black Keys.
Is it really better to burn out than fade away?
Maybe only Kurt knows...
It's Neil doing what he's always done he's tried out many genres so he's older but still keeping the rust at bay.
Thanks so much for bringing this home. Really a great event .Clearly an energy that is strong and determined. Guitar lovers feast! Why does anyone keep"fuckin'up!? Just ask. Each other! XOXO Neil!
Anon, explain HOW Neil is a caricature of himself. You seem convinced of it, but offer up no reason at all for this statement. Probably because there is no reason. It's a simple statement of condescension. Nobody who continues to create and perform beautiful art on their own terms is in any way a caricature.
If Neil were doing greatest hits tours, then this might be a worthwhile observation, but coming from yet another (yawn) anonymous poster who can't provide even the most basic reasoning to back up the statement, it's just condescension reeking of jealousy.
"Maybe only Kurt knows..."
or Danny.......
God only knows
Thanks for posting this, can't wait to cross the pond next week for Austin and Tulsa shows. Anonymous, in his many guises, remains a twat.
Anon 5:05 isn't even worthy of a response ... rethink what you posted and then get back with us ...
