Part 1
Part 2
From INTERVIEW: Neil Young on new album 'Americana' - Oldies 106.7 - Portland's Only Oldies Station, Neil Young talks to Bret Saunders, KBCO (Denver) Morning Show Host, about the new release Americana, his early band The Squires, meeting Stephen Stills, sound reproduction and more.
Isn't it just great that Neil's featured on an "oldies" station!?
Look at my life...

Neil Young grabs his second-highest-charting album as Americana debuts at No. 4 with 44,000. His only other set to surpass that ranking was 1972's Harvest, which spent two weeks at No. 1.
Buy a concert ticket, get the album, which counts as a sale, hence the charts. I bought the CD, then bought four tickets. So four Christmas presents are solved.
Neil sure can tell tales about the past and the future. He's always honostr and warm.Talks with a feeling.
Excuse my limited comprehension of the spoken English (the audio was very low as well). In this interview Neil seems to say that Americana was recorded at the beginning of the 2012. Frank Sampedro said instead that it was recorded in separate sessions during 5-6 months.
For conciliate these different two tales, I can only assume tha most of Americana songs were recorded in few days at the end of last year or the beginning of new one. More songs like GSTQ were recorded in the following months. In the meanwhile, sessions for the other record of originals began like the first HorseBack.
What is your opinion?.Thanks.
So Tired.
Here in Portland,Oregon (ORYGUN) there are several stations to tune into. I listen to 106.7 a lot because I'm kind of an oldie myself.
Didn't catch this when it was broadcast live, so thank you Thrasher for posting this!
Still waiting, however, for a Portland date to show up on the tour. But Seattle is a fun road trip if you leave early enough. After all, the road is a song too.

"..I'm still living the dream we had only it's not over!"
...and Neil (among others!) is the soundtrack!
"...Headin' out to where the pavement turns to Americana!"
dear Andrea, Neil, in the interview says that he cannot recall precisely when Americana was recorded. the time frame he indicates is between end of 2011 and beginning of 2012. hope this helps you for your assumptions
Does anybody have a link to the CNN film mentioned in the interview?
