How can you tell what day Neil plays? Jack White? It would be helpful to know if anyone is privy to this. Thanks!
It looks like Neil is Saturday's headliner.
How can you tell?
Never mind. Saturday it is!!! They have it listed by day on the ACL site now. Neil is following Jack White!! Awesome!!!!!!
Wonder when the full tour schedule will be released?
@Brent - not soon enough!!
Interesting how these dates are just randomly popping up and a few more summer festivals will probably be added.
My own guess is that, if there is a tour, it will start with the Bridge Benefit shows.
For what it's worth: Neil will almost certainly not "follow" Jack White-- he will almost certainly overlap 75%-100% of Jack White's set. The only "headliner" that performs without someone else on the opposite end of the park's big stage at ACL Fest is the Sunday night headliner.
ie, last year Stevie Wonder and My Morning Jacket overlapped for Saturday night, but Arcade Fire got the entire Sunday night last slot to themselves.
Been to every single one of these since the first year and it's been the same way every single year. So, you'll have to choose Jack vs Neil. HARD CHOICE (he said sarcastically).
No one will even be able to HEAR Jack White....what were the festival organizers thinking???
As one who attended ACL last year, they totally botched Stevie Wonder's sound. One could hear MMJ very clearly. We wanted to see SW but also love MMJ so we headed over that way. Ultimately, seeing NY/CH on "tour" is more satisfying than seeing them as a festival headliner. Better than nothing, however....
oh i'm sure you'll be able to hear jack fine. his new album is pretty great and he's got a couple of good bands with him (yes, 2 bands, one all male and one all female. both all rock).
hate to say it, but the new jack white is probably better than the new neil young. of course, if i went to acl you know i'd be at the feet of the master.
I don't even want to go now. I was stoked to see Jack White followed up by Neil and Crazy Horse! That's almost surreal. So they're going to screw it all up and have them play at the same time? Hell, piss in my cereal. I'd listen to Neil play "Jimmy Crack Corn" if that's what he wants to do, but to know Jack White's playing right next door, that just sucks....the big one! Guess I'll wait for a tour if it's to be.
Steven James
It's POSSIBLE that they'd have Neil play opposite of the Roots. Or that they'd give Neil a longer set, thus allowing at least the end of his set to not overlap with Jack White.
But just given my experiences at the previous 11 of these (and, really, we shouldn't count year #1 when there wasn't even a Friday!) I can't imagine that Neil & Jack White aren't overlapping.
Regarding the MMJ v Stevie Wonder sound debacle last year: Yes, MMJ was really loud (I was in the front 20 rows) and Stevie seemed abnormally quiet when I went over to his set after MMJ finished (see above about Neil getting the longer set!). I don't think I'd ever experienced the "bleed" from the two big stages before, so I wouldn't worry about Neil being drowned out by Jack White or vice versa. Even last year, there was no major bleed across the stages best I could tell EXCEPT for the Stevie/MMJ thing. Very weird.
Regardless, glad I'm going to see Neil 2x this summer at a minimum. Was already going to Outside Lands and now I'll see him in my backyard in Austin.
Album review for Americana from Tone Audio. Looking forward to this release. Particularly the vinyl & bluray reviews.

Great review from Tone audio. Can't wait!!!
I don't know what they did with Stevie Wonder last year ... but the volume was so low (and I was "reasonably" close) that it practically ruined it and I left to watch MMJ finish.
The previous year I saw Phish on the main stage, and the sound was loud and pristine.
Anyway, Jack and Neil will overlap heavily as stated ... and if you want to see a bit of one, and a bit of the other ... then you'll be standing WAY back for whichever you go to finish the night.
I'm hoping Jack does an aftershow or ACL Live taping on one of the other nights.
Can't see Neil doing an aftershow being a headliner, although he might do an ACL Live taping (Coldplay and Arcade Fire both did one last year).
Looking forward to hearing about some East Coast dates!!
I've seen NY&CH once, in '03, on the Greendale tour, and it was amazing. I am psyched to see the Americana tour!!!!
I saw Jack White in a small club this past Saturday night and he was absolutely incredible. Neil with Crazy Horse is probably my all time favorite band but I am not sure I could honestly recommend them over Jack White right now. He was that good. Especially if you have seen the Horse multiple times and have other chances to see him this tour.
