Recently, an interesting art piece showed up on Neil Young's Official Facebook page.
Spotted by Rustie extraordinaire HarryO, the posting has inspired much speculation, naturally.
Could this be art for the upcoming Neil Young & Crazy Horse Americana album that is so eagerly anticipated?
Well, who knows?
More questions with no answers...
- When will the album be released?
- What's up with the children's choir on Americana?
- When will Crazy Horse tour?
- What about the Horseback track getting an official release?
- When will Trunk Show be released?
- Will Neil's biography really ever be published?
- And what about NYA Vol #2?
- Or the release of TFA??
- How's LincVolt going?
- What happened to OccupyAudio?
- Will Neil ever really appear on Jimmy Fallon doing a Fallon impression?
- So what did Steve Jobs really think of MP3s & vinyl?
- Will Buffalo Springfield reunite again?
- And was Toast just a joke?
"Tell me lies later, come and see me, I'll be around for a while..."
More Neil Young mysteries to solve....

Ralph Molina Omar, Relax...Has nothing to do with...Flag waving..Has to do with...American written...Songs...
Stephen Cross I believe that is Neil's early handwriting and signature 60's to very early 1970's. I own vintage signed Buffalo Springfield albums from reliable source and it's signed the same way.

As alway's, were all just 'hanging on a limb' ....
To me that handwritten style (indeed it looks like it's 'older', not recently written) over the years has become like a 'brandname', stronger than many worldwide known logotypes: "This is good, this is Neil's own."
I love it. Bring it on!
Doesn't look like and album cover.
But it's Neil's handwriting.....

Waging Heavy Peace [Hardcover]
This title will be released on November 13, 2012.
416 pages
However, the book will be pulled back a mere month before release. Some scattered chapters will be released in online blogs, magazine articles, and subsequent different books over the next fifteen years.
: )
I am not so sure about that one Darth Malt.
Looks to me Neil got paid very well for the book.
So, I guess the people from Blue Rider Press made him sign a contract that included a time schedule.

Wow....Harold...cutting and pasting FB discussions? Really? Well, since you've taken some stuff out of context, I guess I'll reply.
I don't have an issue with the word "Americana" as an album title. Offspring used it to good effect. I don't really like the flag font, though. To me Neil's art transcends nationalism/patriotism. The flag font evokes more of a simple nationalist/patriotic feeling than it does the spirit of American folk art. It makes the Art smaller.
Now maybe this is meant to be a children's album. And maybe the cartoonish font works in that vein. But I still don't care for it. Not all of the americana songs which have been spotted in the Horse Back video are really sung by kiddies in grade school. Gallows Pole?
Also, the tracks (as seen in the video) aren't uniformly about the United States. Nor are they particularly nationalistic as a unifying theme, other than Woodie Guthrie. They are just folk songs written by americans (I guess)...or they just form the roots of american folk music.
The songs would play well anywhere without being labled as nationalistic to the United States, which I feel the font is doing.
So I said that and RM replied to me. But I don't think anyone really got what I was trying to convey...since I didn't do it too effectively from my phone...
Which brings me to my earlier thought that copy/pasting from FB isn't the best journalistic method...
FREE TIME FADES AWAY NOW!

I guess that Neil'll "use" the best part of the year for promoting the album(s), the film and expecially the book. The books market is a different beast from the music market. The book will be published in several nations and in several languages. As a serious writer Neil' ll have to visit every country and meet every kind of people for promoting his creature. Not necessarily fans of the Young music. He'll have to demonstrate that he has really something to say about his life, the life of other people and the world in which we live.
A real world tour, though not a music tour. I bet that will be a fun thing for him.
So Tired.

No malicious intent with the cut and paste ... I was just surprised to see Mr. Molina there commenting on FB, and wanted to share it at TW. I used some examples to put it into some sort of context, but felt that any interested party would go to the Facebook page if they were interested in finding out more... I did not think I was posting anything controversial, or something insulting to any one. If I offended you, I apologize. If fact, I thought you explained yourself quite clearly in your comments. It was not my intent to attack you, or take you out of context. I was sharing the comments of a member of Crazy Horse, that is all.

Who for a second thinks this site is journalistic in nature?.. it is more of an internet blog, an information source that gathers most of it's info from the internet. And since facebook is probably one of the most important and popular venues on the internet, why can't TW copy and paste info from Ralph's page? Now Omar, I can see why you'd be upset on why your comments to Ralph appeared here, since they were very out of line, but I can understand there is much anti-American sentiment, especially among some of those who studied socialism in some Ivy League schools. Like Archie Bunker said, "America, love it or leave it"
@Harold - thanks and understand. No harm, no foul.
@Anon 3/19/2012 08:47:00 PM - Not sure how we got to this "Like Archie Bunker said, "America, love it or leave it"", but seems a bit out of proportion to the point being made.
