I was alternating between Neil and Joni on my ipod all day doing housework, so happy to see this pic!

It was heartwarming for me to see Neil and Joni together in this picture, they are my two favorites. Joni's words, voice and musicianship are definitely in a class with Neil’s.
I have a burlap wall hanging with Joni’s portrait of Neil on it, one of my favorite possessions. I had it for a long time before I realized it was a portrait by Joni, which made it all the more cool. I used to spend a lot of time examining it with my hand over one or the other eye, which turns it into almost two completely different things. I narrowed it down to anger and mysticism, but that's just me. In any event, like Neil himself it oozes feeling. It also reminds me of Picasso's Don Quixote- slashes of lines and minimalist composition that creates something unmistakable, and artless.

Thanks Greg!
Yes, it's wonderful to see these 2 Canadian legends together and catching up.
We can imagine:
Joni: "So Neil, did you ever think when were playing those Toronto coffee houses, we'd be here?"
we think the portrait you described is at link above?
From the Rolling Stone interview by Cameron Crowe?
"ps - and wait until you see tomorrow's Photo of the Moment!"
Hell yes, you got me with this one. I saw the image the other day while I was a bit in a hurry. Guess what came out of my brain. Well, I have to be honest, I was thinking "who is that woman next to Neil? Some kind of Hollywood chick? A movie star?" Well now I know it's Joni. Great picture and thanks for posting.
Oh yeah, the portrait is on the "Joni Mitchell And Neil Young" link, I mixed things up there. Worth a look see for anyone who hasn't seen it. I can only imagine the perspective that these two have when they turn their minds to how things were when they first started, and how it all worked out, especially in terms of who has survived and who hasn't. A very sobering discussion, I'm thinking. I am forever grateful that the two I somehow gravitated to the most are still with us. The world is a better place for it.

Joni looks wonderful and these two have brought much joy over the years - songs with meaning, melody, and integrity! Thanks to Canada!

We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came,
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Although she was always an attractive lady, there must be something especially unique about her soul that draws men to her such as Graham Nash who even just recently mentioned in an interview how after all of these years he has deep regrets over losing the love of this woman. Although he didn't put any demands on her, she's such an independent woman / artist that there is no way she was going to put her career on hold to play the traditional role of mother / housewife. Talk about following her muse. She certainly made a lot of choices along the path of her life in which the 'muse' took precedent over choices which would have drastically altered the course of the life and art of Joni as we have come to know her.
I'd like to call back Summertime
And have her stay
For just another month or so
But she's got the urge for going
And I guess she'll have to go
--Joni Mitchell
Maybe my favorite Joni song, Mr. Henry.
