It never ceases to amaze me and I've said it many times...Neil is never idle..if it isn't his music its some other project. What is an interesting observation I feel is whether laying down a new Crazy horse album is following his "muse" or to please his fans by popular demand...god knows how many fans have been pushing the Crazy Horse reformation barrow and now Neil has finally relented to our persistence...Is he an avid Thrasher's wheat reader maybe?

There's no reference in this video. Just a lot of fatherly advice like "You stick with it long enough and something will happen." And other gentle sentiments like something unexpected will emerge from your art or craft and become the focus.
I just think that Neil got the urge to jam with the horse, simple as that. He might have felt it coming a few months or a couple weeks ahead of time and had Elliot let them know that if they were interested they should start getting ready. I seem to recall tht Pancho's availability changed when the house band changed on the tonight show, that could have helped this too.
I get the urge to jam with the horse, I go to the shelf and pick a Neil with Crazy Horse record. Neil gets the urge, he pulls the guys in and makes a record. Alot the same, a little different.
Neil has also experienced quite a lot of heavy losses these past few years in terms of his inner circle...whatever the reasons those of us that love the Horse are thrilled and are waiting with anticipation for what's next...
There's this universal theme that runs through a lot of Young & Demme's art & film craft. It basically states that life, liberties, and pursuit of happiness for one group cannot come at the expense of another group. Isn't this just the opposite of what we teach our children in school?
Don't mean to derail or guilt trip or be a killjoy. Just making an observation about the fine work that has come from these two people in both their documentaries, film, and music.
Back to the regularly scheduled program...
MNOTR - No worries.
"She said,
'You're strange,
but don't change;'
And I let her."
Wonderful. But where the 'eff is the "Neil Young Trunk Show" Blu-ray/DVD? Why has it been shelved so long?
NEIL YOUNG interviewed today on 'All Things D', apparently he spoke about music quality, record companies, and Steve Jobs. Some great photos of the interview and a summary here:

Neil Young: "Steve Jobs was a digital pioneer but when he went home he listened to vinyl."

Thanks Jill, Here's one for you:
“Piracy is the new radio,” said Young. “That’s how music gets around.”
Guess who said that?
Just found the video of Neil from today's 'All Things D' interview, its very funny too:

Wow!!! Neil says 5:05, "yesterday I handed in a brand new record to Reprise Records that is a concept record that everybody loved because they haven't heard anything like it in a long time ..."
Thrasher, please forgive my getting off topic on this thread ... so as not to confuse anyone, all my comments on this thread are related to the 'All Things D' interview Neil did today, and NOT the Demme Interview Part 2 which is the actual subject of this thread.
Peace
It's great news, Dan1. Thanks! The piracy issue is big and I hope we can have a discussion about it.

Neil is everywhere around the www:

The big question is: What is a concept album????.... according to Neil....
...something like Greendale...?
... or Everybody is Rockin' or maybe even Trans
probably the old traditional tunes we saw in the Horse Back video.
Classic American Folk Songs 'Horse style'! I have a hunch they will be along the lines of 'Human Highway', Year Of The Horse version and a cross between side B of 'Hawks And Doves' and side 'A' of 'American Stars And Bars'... Ralph said it's gonna be 'different', but Crazy Horse non the less!
probably takes him back to those 'family jam sessions' he recalls back when his mom & dad and aunts and uncles and cousins would gather around the piano and other instruments and have sing along's. Thrasher listed the songs yesterday ... Gallows Pole, Clementine, This Land, Oh Susanna, She'll Be Comin Around The Mountain, Gotta Travel On. Traditional American Folk Songs Electrified, Crazy Horse Style!
Oh our favorite kid's Americana cassette tape was "Little Cowpoke" done by a very abled 8 year old fiddler named Sarah Watkins, 12 year old brother Sean on guitar, and buddy Chris Thile on mandolin.
Hey all.
