The latest issue of Broken Arrow Magazine, published by the Neil Young Appreciation Society just arrived and we're now finishing up reading the issue. As always a nice read -- especially as we try and unwind from all of the recent excitement.
And -- thanks to the generous support of NYAS and editor Scott Sandie -- we're pleased to be able to offer a copy of the latest issue of Broken Arrow Magazine to a Thrasher's Wheat reader. Details follow below.
Issue #116 (November 2009) of Broken Arrow Magazine - as usual - has some fine articles, commentary and nice photos.
In particular, a very detailed road trip report by Editor Scott Sandie of his trans-Canada journey tracing Neil Young's path in Winnipeg and Toronto. Scott's tale contains lots of stories and photos of key Neil landmarks, as well as a few surprises along the way. In Winnipeg, his tour guide is longtime fan John Einarson and in Toronto, Rustie extraordinaire Sharry Wilson leads the journey through the T.O. past. A very nice read.
Also in the issue:
- Bridge School Benefit concert review by Paul Docker, NYAS #391
- An in-depth interview of a Bridge School board member Bryan Bell which is surprisingly revealing also by Paul Docker
- Farm Aid 2009 concert report by Lou Cheffy
- An interesting article "20 Things You Didn't Know About Me" by Pete Wyatt
Also, in the issue is a Letter to the Editor that has created a bit of a stir. NYAS' editor Sandie has a calm and measured response that we would agree with and only add that we support NYAS and its editorial decisions. It's probably important to bear in mind that NYAS & Broken Arrow have been going for nearly 30 years now. There is probably not another fan based publication of any genre or type that has continued for this period of time. With that said, as Society members, it's our magazine and if we have suggestions, send them in for consideration.
So check out the Neil Young Appreciation Society page for more info on how to join.
Don't be denied!
Thanks Scott and everyone who is supporting the NYAS & BA!
