It was EPIC!! Absolutely phenomenal! "Old Man" brought me to tears. Seriously.
..with dream comfort memory to spare..
setlist?!?! cmon i live for this shit
No setlist for you...but a few change-ups. We were blessed with Four Strong Winds in the middle. Encore was a usual opener...When You Dance...The rest was similar to the other eastern shows!
As expected a complete dream...it didn't matter what he played...Light a Candle from FITR is amazing live.
Rockin Ronny D from St. Joe's
Four strong winds, beautiful, and heading out west now. Seems appropriate!
Soo setlist.

Excellent concert.
What an amazing night. Some of the noises he makes out of that guitar are unreal.
Any rumor of an east coast tour?
The only bummer was the ending - the band was clearly ready to keep going with a classic barnstormer finish but after a few awkward moments Neil just waved and took off the guitar.
Great show with an absolutely amazing "Tonight's The Night."
Neil will be here on the 27th of April in Colorado. I've followed him since 1969, I was 16 yrs old. I've been to all of his concerts here in CO, and treasure all the recordings I've collected thru the years. No one has ever touched my soul like his music. I lost my mom & dad when I was young, and it was his music that comforted me with the pain, the heartbreak, and lonely times of my life. My children, where raised listening to his music, they really enjoyed the work he did with Pearl Jam. Will write review of his upcoming concert...I love the man and his music. KM from Colorado
From the above post:
"the band was clearly ready to keep going with a classic barnstormer finish but after a few awkward moments Neil just waved and took off the guitar..."
If this is true, and not a venue curfew thing, Neil must have been unhappy with something: sound, audience, or maybe hurting... Too bad for the Soo. I almost went.
Still, you got some good ones!
-Chicago
Seems like he's been mostly playing just one encore every show, so it's not that surprising he left after the one encore song.
Purely Neil. He gave all he could in a show for all to enjoy. Some folks I spoke to who were not pure fans, walked out in awe and with a new appreciation for Neil, his talent and his heart. I kinda felt there was one more tune to come in the end too, but Old Black gave all she had in "Dance" anyhow. Thanks to Neil for coming to the Sault!
Ya know what 'Chicago', Neil just cuttin' the concert at his whim IS Classic Neil. It makes me laugh coz thats soughta what happened in Sydney..somethin pissed him off..then he just goes.. Towel it! I'm outa here!...Even the band, I'm sure must go "Huh, Where's he goin?It must be it".
Between that and changin' the setlist at a whim half way through the concert, must confuse the shit outa Ben ,Rick and Crawfo....Neil Ahard act to follow..literally!

Bunch of photos from the show last night.
If anyone has Neil doin' "Cinnamon Girl" at any these concerts..could ya please post it..I need my hit!!
Dear Neal Young!
Thank you for such an awsome concert. The clarity of your voice was amazing. This was my second concert. I can't really say which song I liked the best but, Mother Earth on the pipe organ was outstanding. Thank you for coming to Sault Ste. Marie. And, to your lovely wife thank you as well you were awsome too!
Fran from the Soo!
I tellya what Fran, Its a long way to lug that heavy Pipe organ for just one song.. ya think he'd do another coupla tunes using this.. maybe "When God made me" or somethin'. Maybe a rendition of "A man Needs a maid, played on pipe Organ. Now that would be somethin!!
Has he still got that dude paintin' at the back of the stage?
What IS the story with that..does anyone REALLY know?
Review from Sault Ste. Marie...

The painting guy has been following Neil around for a few years now I think. Neil invited him to come along. He makes a painting for every song, that is thematically related to the song. Quite interesting. They are available on line somewhere to look at. Some of them I like, some are just haphazard, rushed little things. It must be pretty hard to do 15 or 20 good paintings a night.
Ya know Matt, I soughta knew that, coz in my interview with Neil back in Oz last January he jokingly said that this dude's art was a direct influence from his music....
I wonder what works he'll produce when "Fork" gets in full swing at the concerts?
He doesn't create one for each song - he did back in 2007, and those were placed on the easel to announce the next song in the setlist. Even then he created one painting per show, and that's about what he does now. It does take awhile.
The show was fantastic. The best of six Neil shows I've seen. The energy was so intense at the encore that it seemed it could go on forever, and might have but for a venue curfew. Neil and the band were present for every moment. From the first notes to the last, Neil gave all. Amazing to see. He also played to the crowd more than usual, lots of waving and smiling, pointing, and house lights.
Some people were disappointed he didn't play Helpless (as he was in North Ontario), but he also didn't play Long May You Run (Blind River is just down the road). Truthfully, the guy can't play everything. He'd have to be up there for a day and a half.
Even Old Man, Heart of Gold, and Needle -- songs that I've heard so many times that I kind of glaze over when they're played -- were like new songs. The FITR songs were fantastic, too. Just Singing a Song has been in my mind for days now. I'll probably buy the freakin album, although I said I wouldn't.
Don't miss this tour, if you can attend.
It was a great show.
It would have been perfect if he'd have played Harvest Moon and Rockin' In The Free World.
It was an amazing show. I am 35 and had been waiting to see him since I was 16....it was worth the wait!! He is an amazing musician and will always be my ultimate favorite, he stands for so much and his music is iconic.... as the reporter put it "we were awstruck".... indeed we were and 4 days later I am still high on the show.....wicked
The encore at the Soo concert ended awkwardly because Mr. Young recieved news of a death of a personal friend/employee. Believe I got this from a reliable source! wayne
Worst sound quality I've ever experienced. Believe me I've been a die hard fan for 35 years so when I heard the distorted and painful sound coming from the speakers I was very disappointed. I don't know if it was the equipment, the sound man, the acoustics or a combination of all of them. I've heard Elton John and Brian Adams at the Sudbury Arena and both were like being in a recording studio. That's what I was expecting from this concert but it was a complete let down. Let's hope it was a one up problem and not a downward slide for this incredible artist.
