So Who Really Was "The Godfather of Grunge"?

So far every song I have heard from this album has been a little underwhelming for me. This on the hand is akin to "Like A Hurricane" proping up an otherwise weak album like American Stars and Bars. Awesome!
Great, great song, with the good ol sound. But just like a dude said here, it's a perfect song for the Horse. It's a song of the Horse calibre. Maybe the next time ? I pray.
Nice. I only listened to the live version once, and that was when it was played for the first time. It's come a long way since then, I really like this one. Just a couple more days...
:-)

This is my favorite song from the album! It sounds just great, and the guitar playing is classic Neil!
Now I just want to know what exact videos are on the DVD!
Neil's site says 4 never before seen concert videos and 3 from the album.
In reply to Simpson:
Where are you seeing a listing of 4 never before seen concert videos and 3 from the album?
I can't find that.....and it is incorrect.
The FITR DVD has 1 concert video and 3 videos form the album. The main program is one of our Shakey Pictures screensavers. Audio is 24 bit 96 kHz.
HOWEVER...
The FITR BD will have 1 concert video and 11 videos from the album. the main program will be a full length performance piece.
Audio is 24 bit 192 kHz.

I think all the songs on FITR sound a lot better than the live performances from last year, but that's just one person's opinion.
"HOWEVER...
The FITR BD will have 1 concert video and 11 videos from the album."
AG: You guys are bound and determined to get us to buy a Blu-Ray player whether we like it or not. ;-)
bob
Bob- almost seems like we think about this stuff, doesn't it? :-)
Oh ya....and the FITR Blu-ray has a bonus song track that isn't on the CD or DVD...maybe an Easter Egg hidden somewhere, too.
-Archives Guy
I think you're right dear archives guy. And I think the anonymous guy who said that this song is the perfect thing for a Horse come back is also right. Old Black still lives. Sooner or later, the Horse will be back.
Thanks Neil for this song.
John.
I was serious about the bonus song track on BD.
Hmm..now what song might that be?
-Archives Guy
It's a studio version of A day in the life. Could be great. Or something like a joke song, because sometimes Neil is a pain in the ass.
Don't tell us dear archives guy ! Just like the Boss says, Surprise Surprise.
John.
I just love it!...I've been listening to the live version for quite sometime now and was worried how it would come off on an album. The recording reminded me of Ragged Glory...just love it.
This song Rocks. Great feel, great lyrics.
Every song grows on you.
You people here are doing a great detective job at uncovering new and past Neil.
It's a long road.....Enjoy!!
Archives Guy: Bonus Track???Well, it's either "Sea Change" or "You Don't Need A Map To Get Around".
Will Toast be presented in 5.1 on Blu-Ray as well? With the Front-line Video as the Main Program?
Off Topic, but is there really a "Special Edition" Series in the Archives of which "Toast" and possibly "Homegrown" are members? And if we buy them, would we be buying them AGAIN for future Archives Volumes?
I must say...the Archives Volumes aren't really organized as albums so much as a chronological ordering of session takes. So, why, then, would one introduce a construct as presenting "unreleased albums"? Surely there were things from the Homegrown sessions which didn't even make Homegrown and I expect we'd get to hear some of those on the Archives....
LRR
yet another REVOLUTIONARY video by Neil (wink-wink).
Bring on the Archives, fellas.
I wonder when we will have a Blu-Ray release date. Seems strange to have it being released after the the CD\DVD release...??
Can anyone comment on the significance of Neil's shirt?
These video-cam videos that Neil has made in association with this album really impress me. I just relate to them (and to Neil) on so many profound levels. He just doesn't ossify. He is my role model for how to live as I grow older. He makes "Nerd" something to live up to.
Thank you Neil.
Old Black
Glad to see ya back Archives Guy.When's the Blu-ray edition of FITR coming out?WHEEEEEEEENN!!!Also.Any answers on when Archives vol.1 preview disk (The Early Years) might be shipped to those that pre-ordered?Yes I did order the BD edition. Thanks
The Mugwump
One question AG, Any idea of when is going to be released the blu-ray version?
Thanks.
Sergio
Well, what can we say. Neil Young in a canoe is something else all right. Also, it's even more eco-friendly than a green car! (Takes a lot longer to get to Washington though..) But, eh, this bonus track on FITR BD wouldn't happen to be, eh, Time Fades Away right? Just checkin... ;-)
Hey again AG.I just gotta ask.Any guess on when and if the Trunk Show will be available on BD?Thanks again.
The Mugwump
On all his albums (bar a couple), there's always that one anthemic song..i.e. 'Hey, Hey, my my'.. Like a Hurricane, 'Rockin in the free world' Cinnamon girl,The Loner ... etc. This will be "That" song from FITR..
Definitely the song to ressurect "The Horse" with heh !!
When Neil powered through Just Singing A Song live in Perth, Australia it did not seem out of place amongst the classic rockers that he played that awesome night.
That live version in Perth was ferociously played and I loved the solo he did on it. This song kills live, alot better than on record I reckon.
This is what "Hurricane" was to Stars and Bars and "Rocking In The Free World" was to Freedom.
I agree. I'm a bigger fan of Neil's older stuff. He never was much of a singer but a great siongwriter/storyteller like Dylan.
