Listening Party for "Fork In The Road" on MySpace
We understand that we need to keep an eye on Neil Young's MySpace place.
We hear there just might be a FITR listening party coming up soon.
Did someone say party???

So after all this speculation, I think this album is cool and fun.
It's a funny and and interesting album, something akin to "Reactor", with its repetitive riffs and minmal lyrics. Much more enjoyable than this fan expected.
Fresh and fun songs, with one masterpiece and at least 4 great songs. Cool album for this springtime.
hey, cool, we had a listening party in a chat room for FITR the other day (someone found it streaming somewhere) and it was a BLAST AND A HALF. we had a great time listening to the songs together and chatting about them. although i had heard live versions of all these songs, it was like i was hearing them for the first time. i think many of us felt that way. they sound fantastic, and really really fun. (although i am still grrrr about my favorite song not being on the album, "get around," and also sea change, but whatevz, ny didn't ask me what i thought, wtf). anyway, you should def be there if there is a listening party on ny's myspace. we'll probably do it again in our little chat room at some point too, it was so much fun.
our funky new little chat room is here, come on by: http://tinyurl.com/c2xfoc
you can sign up for our chat room updates here: http://www.twitter.com/streamland
we're just getting going but it's basically a bunch of like-minded ny/music fans who like to talk to each other? in real time. i think. we're not really what it is yet. but it's fun as all h*ll, i'll tell you that, when it gets going. we'll probably evolve into some kind of schedule so people start to show up at the same time, so sign up for twitter updates if you want to be a part of it.

Cool, thanks Karen !
The listening party was the shizz, K.
Glad Neil thought up the idea-- hahaha!
Thanks for setting up the site.

It's a great party and it sounds funky!
Just wanted to pop in and say I reckon this is Neil's best album, probably since Greendale, maybe since Ragged Glory, i NEVER expected it! It's loose and rockin' and full of old time drivin' tunes! Who needs the Archives when we've got new stuff like this coming out??!
I don't know what all the naysayers were talking about! I love this album.
It chugs along in it's minimal and entertaining way with some great garage rock on the road spirit but it is the quieter moments that come closest to Neil's
absolute best.
Light A Candle is a beautiful song
i agree, it is a surprisingly decent album. curious to know what jimmy mcdonough thinks of it, too.
i will say though that neil has definitely lost most, if not all, of the subtlety he had 'back in the day'. he's always flirted with trashy old man blues sludge (which most of the cd is, imho) but he's always sort of teetered on the edge.
he's not very mysterious like say bob dylan still remain but he is charismatic.
but i dig it. the chord change decisions are cool (and bizarre at times) and the melodies are memorable.
it's a record my dad would probably make if he was a super rock star dad.
I ask myself: What is Neil's worst album?
Gotta be Fork in the Road.
If not this, what?
You can't compare Fork to Landing On The Water (just remember "People On the street need a place to go, looking for a place, a place to go") or even Long May You Run (the album).
Fork is funky, full of beer and is a dirty old man's pleasure. What's wrong with it ?
John
