LINCVOLT Live Web-Cam Debuts
The LINCVOLT road trip is about to begin.
Neil Young has been working for sometime now to build a car that will eliminate road-side re-fueling. The car -- LINCVOLT -- is finally ready to hit the road on its cross-country journey and we will be able to watch the trip from a live web-cam.
Neil's team is out to prove that large cars can be just as efficient or even more efficient than many of the next-generation vehicles being designed.
The propulsion system aims to out-perform the Chevy Volt in power, mpg and overall efficiency. The journey will be carried live on the web at Lincvolt.com. The site will feature live, real-time statistics with location, mpg, altitude, speed, battery power, and generator activities as they happen.
Good luck Neil and the Goodwin Young Lincvolt Team on your historic trip across the USA!
Got roads to drive and not much fuel to burn.

Interesting.. They're leaving the light's on all night long in the workshop. They could save some trees by turning it off!
That's what we were wondering about here in Germany, too.
Now it's 8.30 in the morning, bright sunshine outside, the light is still burning, but we suppose those are energy-safing-bulbs...
And nobody has arrived yet.....
If they turned the lights off, then what would the point of the live camera be of looking at a dark room?
I was watching late last night and there were workers in the shop.
So does tha mean we will be able to see where Neil is 24/7?
I don't know... Neil has arrived whit camera crew? Hard to see but...
B.S.M.
Yes, it's him with two handycam man. B.S.M.
Okay, he's gone again. I wish this webcam was with sound and moving images. Good old shakey joke.
Anyway, he's there and he's working on the LincVolt movie again. That's good. B.S.M.
I saw people working on LincVolt at least until 11.30 pm local time, when I checked an hour later the car was al alone and I wondered about the burning lights, too. So I asked by mail about that and got an answer from Nicholas at Goodwin Concepts, LLC:
"Don't worry, we turn the lights out. The way the webcam works is off the last image it had movement on and then stays on that image until new movement. So you saw the same image for several hours even while the lights were out."
Yes, its definetly him...., exciting!
Thank you, thesongdong, for that information!
Liza, It's TheSongDog not SongDong.
And yes, thank you SongDog... hope it's true... Daylight is not something you can call "movement".
Neil's having lunch? He will be back soon. Are they going for a ride? Who knows.
Oh, I'm sorry for the typo, of course it's "thesongdog".....
It's all funny. But this webcam could use some more action. Can somebody connected to Neil give him a call and ask him to step in front of the camera and play some air guitar for all his fans on TW... Time Fades Away on air guitar. That balls. B.S.M.
this is cool!
but can someone clarify that you are getting what i get. i have tried it in 3 different browsers...
aol, ie, and firefox.... and i don't really get a webcam feed...it seems... just a picture that seems to change every 15 seconds..... but during that span resets the same picture 3 times.... about every 5 seconds, with the same time on the clock. if this is what the live journey is going to be like... looks like a jerky ride coming.......
What you see is what you get. Yes, it's exactly like you describe it.
It's like playing with Crazy Horse.
A friend caught a picture with Neil waving to the camera, at 12.46 pm....
I think that the camera is one of those that captures and posts a picture in intervals. From the time on the page, it looks like a new image every 10 or 20 seconds.
I don't think that movement or lack of it has anything to do with the picture refreshing.
Lets forget the lincvolt for a second, What does Neil think of Palin and this bail-out. He is objective and it would be interesting what he thinks.
SHAKEY; SHOW US THE WAY!!!!!!!!

I think Neil left around 7pm. their time. I saw him standing around chatting for a minute and haven't seen him since. But this was a waaayy cool idea. Is the location kept secret cause Im surprised fans arent looking in the windows.
Is it me or is that a Hummvee in the background? Isn't that being a bit of a hypocrite?
Neil gives the world a peek at a prototype that could end roadside refueling and reduce the chances of war....and all you do is bitch about lights being left on for a few days and a hummvee sitting in the background. Amazing! The hummvees at Goodwins are there for conversions to Biodiesel....a difference of 10 or 12 mpg to 25 mpg. Staying big...but being fuel efficient. That's what LincVolt is all about.....keeping the American dream. Relax people!
SOMEBODY STOLE THE CAR!! WTF
NEIL IS THERE!! RIGHT NOW!! OMG HOW COOL IS THAT!!
What happened to the mobile video feed?? Who drove the car out?? WTF I missed it and was watching it "live"
the live feed is back!

Is there audio on the live feed?
Cool. Just came back from driving around all day. Looking at the empty garage. They moved LincVolt to another space. Ha, great with video stream. Neil's standing in front of the camera. Ha, great he's now showing his cap. Playing with the camera and having fun with us. Did he play air guitar yet? I don't know, just great to watch. B.S.M.
Audio is on!
That's much better, great movie/livestream to watch.
B.S.M. oh, they just turned the audio off again.
The Hummer is fueled by bio diesel. Here is the article: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1109363,00.html

I just left from seeing Neil's car and another celebrity's which I won't mention because the fellow I met that works there (Dave) was very kind and I want to respect the privacy. I live right near where they are converting Neil's car. I just bought a Honda Hybrid and didn't even know the webcam existed until Dave shared this with me. My husband did see Neil out front with "the guys" Thursday evening when he went down the street to get gas for his truck. However, again for privacy, we didn't want to run over. We appreciate what he is doing with his beautiful 1959 Lincoln and we hope by setting the example, others follow suite. I spent an hour there this morning and have great converstaion with these very intelligent fellows. This is our future and I hope everyone begins to think "green"!
BTW, we are a HUGE Neil Young fan. Just not imposing.
So now I am bummed. I am not able to see Neil's tour as KC was the closest city for me. How about Wichita Neil?
(Jonathan/Dave: Can either of you talk him into it? Or he can jam with my hubby, we are right around the corner, remember?)
